It designs and builds the whole stack, from the airframes and payloads to the embedded compute and the autonomy algorithms that let a swarm sense, decide, and act with no cloud and no GPS behind it. The pitch is "coordinated saturation": instead of one exquisite platform, you field mass, and the advantage shifts from the aircraft to the autonomous force flying it.

Everything runs on a two-layer model. Platform Autonomy makes each drone smart on its own hardware at the edge, and Mission Orchestration coordinates many of them together, all while keeping a human in the loop on decision authority.

The problem Harmattan AI keeps naming is production, not cleverness. Contested environments now chew through equipment, so forces need systems cheap and plentiful enough to lose without strategic risk, which is exactly what a $30 million exquisite platform can't do. France's DGA placed its largest-ever order for a single drone type, 5,000 Sonora units, after Harmattan delivered an initial 1,000-unit batch within six months of signing. Add 3,000 autonomous systems for the British Ministry of Defence, a cooperation with Ukrainian drone maker Skyeton, and a Paris line producing more than 1,300 drones a month, and the pattern is delivery on contract, not promises.

Harmattan AI has raised about $242 million across three quick rounds. A $12 million seed led by Atlantic in 2024, a $30 million Series A led by FirstMark Capital in early 2025, and then the $200 million Series B led by Dassault Aviation in January 2026 that pushed it to a $1.4 billion valuation.

Dassault isn't a passive check. The French aerospace group is a strategic partner, and the round is explicitly aimed at putting Harmattan's autonomy inside Dassault's future combat aircraft while scaling production of its interception, ISR, and electronic warfare systems.
