SKELAR co-founds consumer businesses and stays in the room. Founders own every decision; the studio supplies the leverage to get those decisions right. It breaks that leverage into three pieces: capital from day one through to profitability, a network of operators who have already solved the hard problem you are hitting, and a platform team that absorbs the back-office work so a small product team can move like a much bigger one.

That platform is the real differentiator. More than ten in-house teams cover legal, finance, HR, talent acquisition, employer branding, and IT for every portfolio company, which is why a three-person product team here can act like it has a full company underneath it.

For a venture builder the products are the portfolio, so read these as the companies SKELAR co-founds and operates rather than one product it sells. The list skews hard toward direct-to-consumer subscription apps: habit and wellbeing tools, kids' learning, pet training, AI styling, and a growing stack of reading and short-video entertainment.

Some are further along than others, and a builder model means the roster churns as bets are placed and folded. Leaply, one of the healthtech businesses, says it tripled in 2025 and is aiming for a top-three global spot in its category. SKELAR topped DOU's Ukrainian employer ranking in 2024 and came second in 2025, in the 800-to-1500-specialist category, which is a real signal in a market where engineers vote with their feet. Its stated values read like a builder's manifesto: act fast, own the outcome, recruit relentlessly, and trust the data over the vibe. Roughly 17 percent of the workforce is technical, with the rest weighted toward product, analytics, and marketing.

The part worth reading between the lines is the pace. The same speed the company celebrates shows up in reviews as long hours, and career headroom is described as far wider for tech roles than for content or product folks. Offices are built to run through blackouts, with their own power, water, and internet, which tells you as much about operating in wartime Kyiv as any values page could.

**Loved for ambition and learning, dinged on hours and pay**

The praise is consistent: a genuinely global vision, unusual transparency about where the company is headed, strong internal schools and clubs, and real room to grow if you are on the technical or leadership track. Around 69 percent of Glassdoor reviewers would recommend it to a friend, on a 4.0 average.

The criticism is just as consistent. People flag an overtime culture and what a few call toxic productivity, work-life balance rates low, and there is a recurring gripe that the products are money-first with thinner product craft. Compensation sentiment has slipped over the past year, and non-tech roles say the ladder runs out faster than it does for engineers.

## Funding

**No outside rounds, because it is the one writing the checks**

There is no Series A story here to tell, and that is the point. SKELAR does not raise external venture rounds; it provides the capital to its own portfolio companies and pulls in outside investment only when a specific business's strategy calls for it. Total funding into the studio itself is not disclosed.

The money that is public flows the other way, into the ecosystem. SKELAR runs Europe's first accelerator for veteran founders, offering up to $20,000 per team, and says it has put more than UAH 38 million into education and charity through its foundation.

## Outlook

**Building global consumer leaders from a country at war**

The plan is unabashedly big: build category leaders for the US, Europe, Latin America, and Asia out of Ukraine, and lean the whole portfolio into AI through a dedicated AI Lab and AI-native products. The consumer-subscription focus and the shared operating platform are the engine meant to get there.

The risks are the flip side of the model. A portfolio of consumer apps is only as good as the winners in it, the hours-heavy culture is a retention question in a hot talent market, and running a scaling studio through war is a bet on Ukraine itself. So far the studio has kept growing, kept hiring across three cities, and kept feeding talent back into the market it recruits from.
