The firm’s team of equal parts investors and operators provides hands-on operational support and the flexible capital to systematically scale marketing, sales and customer success at its portfolio companies. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $5.6bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe. ## About the Role We are seeking an AI Engineer to build the AI and automation layer of our revenue operations—designing, building, and shipping intelligent workflows that make our sales, renewal, and retention motions faster, more predictable, and scalable. Ultimately, this role is helping the Customer and Sales organizations deliver more revenue sustainably. This is a building role where you will embed with portfolio company revenue teams and bring a point of view on where AI can create the most leverage—spanning pipeline creation + advancement, forecasting, renewal automation, churn prediction, and more—then re-engineer those workflows using AI agents, LLM-powered tools, and automation frameworks. You will build working systems, put them into production, and iterate based on real performance data. The ideal candidate is a structured thinker, a relentless builder, and a lifelong learner who thrives on bringing order to complexity. You should be equally comfortable writing a prompt chain as you are configuring a workflow inside of a CRM or revenue intelligence platform, and you should be energized by the challenge of turning a manual, repetitive process into something an AI agent handles autonomously. ## Key Responsibilities - AI Agent Design & Development: Design, build, and ship autonomous AI agents that execute revenue workflows end to end—including lead qualification, opportunity scoring, account health monitoring, renewal triggers, and win/loss analysis—with minimal human intervention. You will be the one writing the code. - Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Turn/River’s sales, customer success, and finance leads, as well as the data team and portfolio companies, as a thought partner on how AI can accelerate revenue growth, retention, and renewal performance. - Workflow Identification & Re-Engineering: Bring a systematic lens to revenue operations, identifying high-value automation opportunities across the full customer lifecycle. Decompose manual workflows—from pipeline creation to renewal processing—into agent-ready components: skills, tools, evaluation frameworks, and feedback loops. - Portfolio Company Collaboration: On a project basis, partner directly with portfolio company revenue teams on specific initiatives—for example, building and testing AI-powered workflows that support a portfolio company’s sales productivity, renewal automation, or churn reduction programs. - Pipeline & Forecast Analytics: Build AI-assisted reporting and forecasting frameworks that provide real-time visibility into pipeline health, deal velocity, and revenue risk. Surface insights that help sales and CS leadership identify gaps, prioritize accounts, and improve forecast accuracy. - Renewal & Retention Automation: Design and deploy intelligent workflows that automate the renewal cycle—including proactive risk identification, renewal outreach sequencing, expansion opportunity detection, and churn propensity modeling—to protect and grow net revenue retention. - Frontier AI Adoption: Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape—new models, agent frameworks, and revenue intelligence tooling—and rapidly prototype and deploy new capabilities to keep Turn/River’s revenue function at the cutting edge. ## Qualifications - Hands-on experience building AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or intelligent automation systems in a production environment. - Individual contributor by preference. You are accountable for building and shipping the work yourself rather than directing others who do — this role is measured in systems running in production, not specifications handed off. - Real-world application of AI to improve revenue in a commercial business & extensive knowledge of primary AI platforms - Deep familiarity with the B2B SaaS revenue tech stack: CRM platforms (Salesforce or equivalent), revenue intelligence tools, CPQ, and customer success platforms. - Data-driven mindset with experience building pipeline dashboards, renewal forecasts, and retention analytics. - Structured thinker who can break complex revenue processes into systems of components, root causes, and dependencies. - Strong communicator who can distill technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with sales and CS leaders. - Hands-on, execution-oriented, and accountable for results—this is a building role, not an advisory one. - Curious, experimental operator who continuously tests new approaches and technologies. Location - San Francisco, hybrid work model ## Compensation - The annual base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $180,000 taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements. ## Benefits and Perks The below benefits are offered to full-time employees based out of our San Francisco office: - An opportunity to make an impact across multiple high-growth tech firms - Competitive salary and discretionary bonus - Medical, dental, and vision insurance covered 100% for employee & dependents - Flexible vacation policy - 401K matching - Paid parental leave - Commuter benefits - Health and Wellness benefits - Household Services benefits - Home Office benefits - Annual Home Office Equipment Reimbursement - Donation matching - Work from home Monday & Friday - Energetic work environment with snacks and weekly team lunches 3x per week, centrally located near multiple public transit lines - A company that enjoys having fun: holiday parties, annual company offsite and retreat, annual summer "work from anywhere" month Turn/River provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed (including religious dress and grooming practices), national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical or mental disability, medical condition (including cancer and genetic characteristics), genetic information, marital status, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, or related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, natural hair styles, age (40 years and over), sexual orientation, veteran and/or military status, protected medical leaves (requesting or approved for leave under any applicable state, or federal leave act), domestic violence victim status, political affiliation, and any other characteristic or status protected by state or federal law. ## About Turn/River ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Turn/River is a software investment firm that applies a proprietary growth engineering strategy, partnering with B2B software businesses to accelerate organic revenue, scale operations, and build enduring value in the AI era. - **Entity Type**: Private (private equity / venture capital firm) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2012 - **Founders**: Not publicly available ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Venture Capital & Private Equity, Software Growth Investing, AI Platform Transformation - **Target customers**: B2B – portfolio companies (mid-market and large software businesses seeking operational scaling);
