This role involves conducting strategy audits, designing sprints, and driving adoption of agentic AI tools to improve business outcomes for Fortune 500 clients. ## Job description Tenex helps companies put AI to work across their operations. We work with clients to identify where AI can help, build the workflows, and get teams using them. As an AI Strategist, you’ll combine consulting and product management. You’ll help clients identify the right problems to solve, translate those problems into product requirements, and lead the work through rollout and adoption. You’ll work directly with executives and the teams doing the work each day. You’ll run discovery, assess business value, set priorities, and define what success looks like. Alongside Forward Deployed Engineers, you’ll turn those decisions into working software and workflows. You’ll own business requirements, product direction, and adoption for your workstream. Your engineering counterpart will own architecture and software delivery. You’ll also build prototypes and automations using AI and low-code tools to test ideas and clarify requirements. You’ll report to an Engagement Manager. Success means the client uses what your team delivers and can measure how it improves their business. ## What you’ll do - Understand how the client works. Interview teams, map processes, and identify where work gets delayed or requires unnecessary manual effort. - Decide what’s worth building. Assess opportunities, estimate their business value, and help clients choose where to start. - Define the product. Turn discovery into requirements, priorities, and acceptance criteria. Keep scope grounded in the client’s needs as you learn more. - Lead the client relationship. Run executive discussions, explain tradeoffs, and raise problems early. Give clients a clear recommendation when their proposed approach needs to change. - Work with engineers to deliver. Resolve product questions, test prototypes with users, and coordinate feedback. Build prototypes and automations with AI, SaaS, and low-code tools where useful. - Own adoption. Plan rollouts, train users, gather feedback, and track usage and business results after launch. - Share what works. Turn lessons from engagements into playbooks other Tenex teams can use. Examples of the work For a national insurer, you might run a four-week diagnostic across claims, underwriting, and customer operations. You’ll identify the ten highest-return AI opportunities, present a roadmap, and help deliver the first two. For a healthcare system, you might lead a two-week sprint to define an agent’s requirements, prototype it with engineering, and manage its rollout across three hospitals. For a private equity firm, you might build an AI training program across its portfolio. You’ll develop the playbook, lead training, and prepare internal champions to continue the work after the engagement ends. ## What we’re looking for - You have 3–7 years of experience in consulting, strategy, operations, product management, or workflow design. - You’ve changed how a team works and can explain what you changed, why you made those decisions, and what happened. - You can turn an unclear business problem into requirements, priorities, and a practical delivery plan. - You use AI tools daily to build things and solve problems. Your experience might include Claude, Cowork, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable, or Zapier/n8n. - You ask good questions and follow up when an answer is vague. You’re comfortable learning how a business works from both its leaders and its frontline teams. - You can translate client needs into work an engineer can act on, and explain technical decisions to someone without an engineering background. - You take responsibility for outcomes, move work forward without detailed instructions, and respond thoughtfully to feedback. Relevant backgrounds include consulting, startups, and companies building with AI. You may have worked as a Chief of Staff, operations lead, product manager, service designer, or founder. Experience at firms such as McKinsey Digital, BCG X, Bain Vector, IDEO, or Fjord is also relevant. Writing, talks, or public projects that show how you think about applied AI are a plus. ## Why Tenex You’ll work on client engagements with direct access to our partners at Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel, and Lovable. That includes working with Anthropic and OpenAI’s Applied AI teams on client problems. Anthropic named Tenex as a partner in its Claude for Small Business launch. We deliver AI fluency training across US cities, and workflows we built are available inside Claude for Small Business. The role gives you responsibility across the full engagement: helping a client choose what to build, working with engineers to deliver it, and seeing how it performs in daily use. ## Benefits - Medical insurance with PPO and HSA options, plus dental and vision - HSA, Healthcare FSA, and commuter benefits - 100% employer-paid life and AD&D insurance - 100% employer-paid long-term disability insurance - Responsible PTO: take what you need Working at Tenex We work from our New York City office five days a week. Expect to travel to client sites approximately once a month. ## About Tenex ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Tenex is an AI transformation partner that helps enterprises shift from AI-absent to AI-native through outcome-based engineering squads and custom transformation programs. - **Entity Type**: Private (services firm; no public funding rounds disclosed) - **Headquarters**: New York City, New York, USA - **Founded**: 2025 - **Founders**: Alex Lieberman (co-founder of Morning Brew) and Arman Hezarkhani (former Google Cloud AI leader and adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: AI transformation consulting and engineering services - **Target customers**: B2B, primarily enterprise companies with >$25 million revenue that are motivated to become AI-first but lack internal resources - **Mission**: “To help your business reach its potential & end up on the right side of history, post-AI.” ## Products & Services - **Tenex Engineering**: Outcome‑based, subscription‑style product and engineering squads that leverage AI acceleration to ship production‑grade software faster.
