We red-team, certify, and insure agents, e.g., [Harvey](https://www.harvey.ai/), [ElevenLabs](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/matiii_a-first-for-the-industry-voice-agents-built-ugcPost-7429909704266653696-d7Ac?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAABaw0-sBnn0CU9SIZf2TfDwTKAAbDaEqsss), [UiPath](https://www.uipath.com/), [Fin](https://fin.ai/). Soon, agents will take on critical work in hospitals, banks and governments. This could create abundance - or go terribly wrong. History teaches us that standards and insurance are capitalism’s best tools for making risk legible and shaping incentives. We’ve built the gold standard for agent security & reliability, [AIUC-1](https://www.aiuc-1.com/), with 250 [+ CISOs from the Fortune 1000](https://www.aiuc-1.com/consortium). Our team comes from [Anthropic](http://anthropic.com/), [McKinsey](http://mckinsey.com/), [METR](http://metr.org/), [Perplexity](https://www.perplexity.ai/), etc. We've raised $55m from investors like Ribbit, First Harmonic and Nat Friedman. To unlock safe & secure adoption of agents in critical workflows, organizations need a way to validate what agents to trust. We are creating AIUC-1 to fill that gap, becoming the trustmark for AI agents. You'll sit at the center of AIUC-1, working with the organization and the [AIUC-1 Consortium](http://aiuc-1.com/consortium) of 250+ Fortune 1000 leaders to decide what the standard says and why. When an agent fails publicly, you're the person who reads the incident report before anyone else at AIUC, has a sharp point of view within 24 hours, and decides what it means for our controls. When a new taxonomy of harm or a new regulatory framework lands, you're the one who translates it into a control enterprises can implement, and auditors can test. This is a collaborative and high-agency role. There's no playbook for "standards lead for AI agents." You’ll work with colleagues to determine what matters most and execute through rigorous research, conversations with experts, and putting pen to paper. In this role, you will: - Own the AIUC-1 standard update process: running the deep research and continuous incident monitoring that tells us when the standard needs to move, collaborating with the AIUC-1 Consortium, and drafting the quarterly updates - Drive news and analyst commentary: publishing AIUC's take within 24 hours of major AI incidents, and making sure our own team understands what happened and why it matters before anyone asks - Lead technical content development for our blog and other channels — turning research and incident analysis into writing that's credible with security leaders, auditors, and customers alike - Track the regulatory and threat landscape (new laws, frameworks, red-team findings, published exploits) and translate it into concrete, testable control language - Build partnerships with organizations like the CSA, the OWASP community, and CRI, to strengthen the ecosystem around AIUC-1 and drive standard adoption ## What we're looking for - 3-8 years of experience - ideally in AI research or global risk & compliance, but open to exceptional generalists with experience from consulting / startups - Excellent writing: you can turn a complex incident or research finding into something clear, fast, and credible enough to publish under time pressure - Comfort with technical material, with working fluency in at least one of security/compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO, NIST), audit methodology, or AI safety/research - Genuine curiosity about standards and AI failure modes; you read incident reports and research papers out of real interest, and the chance to shape what AIUC-1 says is what draws you to the role - Comfort operating with speed and ambiguity; excitement to take action and develop a perspective without being explicitly directed - Judgment enterprises and auditors will trust; you can hold your own with CISOs, General Counsels, and technical researchers when soliciting input - Operational excellence: you can manage a great process involving 250+ consortium members, external partners, and AIUC team members ## Nice to have - Experience in a high-pace environment like consulting or a startup, followed by a deliberate move into AI safety or governance - Experience writing or applying standards, not just reading them ## Compensation & Perks - Competitive annual salary - Equity (significant part of total compensation) - Health, dental and vision insurance for you and your dependents - Visa sponsorship and relocation stipend to bring you to SF, if needed - Daily meals ## Our Values Strong Back - High standards, keep our promises, work hard Fast Feet - Experiment, cut scope, take delight in pace Eyes Up - ‘Feel the AGI’ across our strategy, teams, and day-to-day work Open Heart - Say the scary thing, create connection, make room for emotions ## About Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: AIUC builds the confidence infrastructure—standards, audits, and insurance—to certify and insure AI agents, enabling enterprise adoption. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: Not publicly available (likely 2024 based on funding timeline) - **Founders**: Rune Kvist (CEO), Rajiv Dattani, Brandon Kent Wang (CTO) ## Core Business - Primary industry/industries: AI risk & insurance, AI standards & certification, enterprise AI trust infrastructure - Target customers: AI agent companies (B2B) and their enterprise customers (B2B, Enterprise) - Mission or purpose statement: "Building the trust infrastructure for AI agents" and "Underwrite superintelligence" [aiuc.com](https://aiuc.com/) ## Products & Services - **AIUC-1 Standard**: The first comprehensive standard for AI agent safety, covering data & privacy, security, safety, reliability, accountability, and societal risks.
