We are a hands-on digital services consultancy – part technologists, part change agents, and all heart.  We employ modern best practices in all that we do as we work to solve problems in public health, financial industry regulation, granting citizenship and asylum, and identity and access management. ## About the Role The Associate Software Engineer contributes to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions while continuing to build technical expertise and professional experience. You will be working on our Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) Health Information Oversight System (HIOS) team where you will be planning, developing, executing, and documenting manual and automated testing across functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and release-readiness activities. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding reusable test suites, managing defects and test evidence, and verifying traceability between requirements and results. Engineers at this level are expected to work with increasing independence, own smaller features and enhancements, and actively participate in team collaboration and technical discussions. What you will do: - Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that support customer and business objectives. - Plan, develop, execute, and document manual and automated testing across functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and release-readiness activities. - Maintain and expand reusable test suites, manage defects and test evidence, and verify traceability between requirements and results. - Leverage tools like JMeter, Postman, Selenium, Playwright in support of test automation. - Ensure accessibility in development leveraging tools like ANDI, Inspect DevTool, CCA, NVDA, and JAWS. - Implement features and enhancements with limited supervision. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices. - Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and technical issues. - Collaborate with engineers, designers, business analysts, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle. - Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge-sharing efforts. - Participate in Agile planning, estimation, and delivery activities. - Continuously improve technical skills and knowledge of modern development practices. We are hiring for multiple levels under this job posting. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications, with salary ranges aligned accordingly. The range for this specific role is from $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.
