AI systems that can design, simulate, and optimize complex products to achieve breakthrough levels of performance. Our mission is to enable engineers to move beyond today’s slow, manual design cycles by providing agents that reason about physics, explore design trade-offs, and generate high-performance solutions across aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing. We’re backed by top-tier investors and work directly with industry leaders to deploy AI-native tools that go far beyond today’s design automation. ## Role Overview We’re hiring a Backend Engineer to help build the infrastructure behind our autonomous engineering agents. You’ll work across model serving, simulation orchestration, multi-agent coordination, and developer-facing APIs. This role is critical to delivering fast, reliable, and scalable systems that engineers can trust in production design environments. ## Responsibilities - Own core backend systems for serving AI agents and managing their compute, data, and model coordination - Design and implement APIs that expose agent functionality—simulation control, CAD operations, optimization workflows—to internal tools and customer integrations - Build secure, scalable infrastructure for multi-agent orchestration, including support for containerized workloads, caching, and distributed compute - Collaborate closely with ML, frontend, and simulation engineers to create a cohesive, performant product experience - Integrate external tools such as CAD software, simulation backends (e.g., OpenFOAM), and data stores into our pipeline - Support agent development workflows, including tooling for versioning, introspection, and reproducibility - Contribute to infrastructure decisions that will shape the technical foundation of our platform as it scales - Engage directly with early customers to support integration, identify infrastructure needs, and gather feedback ## Qualifications Required: - Strong backend engineering skills in Python or similar languages - Experience designing and maintaining production APIs - Familiarity with containerized development and deployment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) - Comfort building infrastructure that supports AI/ML systems or computational workflows - Strong systems thinking and ability to reason across compute, data, and model interactions - Experience in fast-paced environments where end-to-end ownership is expected - Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred: - Expertise in FastAPI - Experience integrating with scientific software (e.g., CAD, FEA, CFD tools) - Exposure to agent frameworks, workflow orchestration, or distributed systems - Familiarity with model serving (e.g., TorchServe, Triton) or simulation backends - Interest in physics, geometry, or real-world engineering applications - Prior experience building developer tools or working in high-trust customer-facing roles ## Why This Role Matters We’re not just building software—we’re building the future of engineering itself. As a backend engineer at Navier, you’ll architect the systems that allow our AI agents to reason, simulate, and design like expert engineers. Your work will directly impact how rockets, cars, aircraft, and next-gen hardware are conceived and built. ## What We Offer - Competitive compensation, including salary and equity - Direct exposure to high-impact technical problems in aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing - Opportunity to help define a new category of engineering software ## About Navier AI ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Navier AI builds an Agent-Driven Engineering platform that uses AI agents to automate complex simulation workflows, enabling engineering teams to run CFD simulations at scale. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2023 - **Founders**: Cameron Flannery (CEO, Co-Founder), Evan Kay (Co-Founder) ## Core Business - **Primary Industry**: AI-powered engineering simulation software (Computational Fluid Dynamics / Agent-Driven Engineering) - **Target Customers**: B2B; engineering teams in aerospace, automotive, and other hardware-intensive industries; companies that need to run complex CFD simulations at scale. - **Mission**: To enable engineers to focus on designing great products by automating the tedious, time-consuming steps of simulation—from geometry cleanup and meshing to solver configuration and cloud resource management. ## Products & Services - **Agent-Driven Engineering (ADE) Platform**: A web-based SaaS platform built on OpenFOAM (the industry-standard CFD solver) that uses AI agents to autonomously handle the end-to-end simulation workflow. The agents leverage computer vision and spatial reasoning (built on technology from autonomous vehicle development) to interpret 3D geometry, set up cases, manage cloud compute, and generate reports. The platform is available as both a cloud-native and local application. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly available. - **Key Metric**: Total funding of **$6.1M** (latest round: $5.6M Seed announced in December 2025). - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Y Combinator (Winter 2024 batch), GV (Google Ventures), HCVC, Innovation Endeavors, Soma Capital, and others. Partnered with **Rescale** to accelerate computational engineering with AI physics. - **Growth Signals**: Headcount grew **+57.1% YoY** to 8 employees. LinkedIn followers grew **+178.8% over the past year** (3,356 followers). The company has a presence in the US (HQ), Canada, and France. The founders are alumni of SpaceX, Tesla, Aurora, General Atomics, and other top engineering firms, lending strong credibility. ## Competitive Advantages - **Founder-Market Fit**: Founders Cameron Flannery and Evan Kay are aerospace engineers with direct experience building rocket engines, satellites, autonomous trucks, and hydrofoiling ships at SpaceX, Tesla, and Aurora. Their deep domain expertise is a core differentiator. - **Proprietary AI Technology**: The agents are built on proven autonomous vehicle technology (computer vision, spatial reasoning), giving them a unique ability to interpret complex 3D geometry and automate cross-disciplinary translation between design and engineering. - **Consolidated Platform**: Unlike the current patchwork of separate software licenses, compute management, and manual coordination, Navier offers a single platform combining AI agents, compute infrastructure, and tool integration. - **Productivity Claim**: The company states its platform enables teams to "triple their output" by automating repetitive tasks, compressing development cycles from months to weeks. ## Strategic Focus - **Platform Development & Expansion**: The $5.6M seed round is being used to develop the platform further and expand its customer base, specifically targeting aerospace and automotive companies. - **Democratizing Engineering**: The company aims to make advanced simulation tools accessible to teams of any size, not just large engineering departments, by reducing the overhead of running simulations. ## Why Work Here - **High-Impact Engineering Culture**: The company is building the "first Agent-Driven Engineering platform" and is at the forefront of a third major productivity shift in engineering (after CAD and simulation). Employees will work on hard technical problems involving AI, 3D geometry, cloud infrastructure, and physics simulation. - **Founding Team Pedigree**: Working alongside founders who have built hardware and software at SpaceX, Tesla, and other top-tier companies offers a steep learning curve and exposure to best-in-class engineering practices. - **Remote/Hybrid/Office Policy**: The company is headquartered in San Francisco, CA (with an office at 71 Stevenson Street). Job postings for Backend Engineer and Full Stack Engineer list San Francisco as the location, suggesting an in-office or hybrid model for engineering roles. - **Notable Perks & Culture**: The company's stated mission is to let engineers focus on "high-value engineering decisions" rather than repetitive tasks. The culture is likely fast-paced, autonomous, and deeply technical, typical of a well-funded Y Combinator startup. The team is small (~8 people), offering significant ownership and impact. ## Sources 1. [navier.ai](https://www.navier.ai/) 2.
