Our platform helps firms integrate structured and unstructured information into knowledge graphs that support simulating, optimizing and automating processes. We’re building towards world models from a different starting point from most AI labs: typed, temporal representations of real systems and the processes that change them. Our founders include Joel Spolsky, who founded Stack Overflow and Trello; Jude Allred, formerly CTO of Glitch; and Dei Vilkinsons, formerly CEO of Soho Strategy. ## About the role HASH works on ideas that are powerful but not always simple: knowledge graphs, processes that change through time, simulations, interventions, operational decisions and new approaches to AI. We’re hiring a senior Brand Designer who can make those ideas clear, persuasive and unmistakably HASH. You will own the visual expression of HASH across sales and marketing communications: decks, diagrams, illustrations, editorial graphics, email, social campaigns, case studies, reports and selected web work. - Some assignments will begin with a good brief. Others will begin with a dense technical document, a rough founder deck or a seller saying, “I need this company to understand why their process can be modelled.” You will need to find the structure, challenge what is unclear and produce an answer that communicates rather than decorates. You will be responsible both for high-craft work and for the templates and systems that let the rest of the company move quickly without diluting the brand. ## Requirements - A portfolio demonstrating exceptional typography, layout, hierarchy and visual storytelling - Strong examples of persuasive presentations and editorial or campaign systems, not only identities and logos - The ability to turn a complicated technical idea into an original diagram or illustration that genuinely improves understanding - Systems thinking: you build reusable components and templates, while knowing when an important moment deserves something bespoke - Speed, organization and comfort shipping through multiple review cycles without losing the central idea - The ability to work directly with founders, sellers, marketers and engineers, extract what matters and challenge an overloaded or incoherent brief - Curiosity about AI, graphs, simulation and complex enterprise systems, and the willingness to understand what you are depicting - The judgment to art-direct yourself and produce excellent work without waiting for a creative director Experience in brand or communications design for enterprise technology, AI, data infrastructure, developer tools or scientific organizations is particularly relevant. So is information design, technical illustration, data visualization, motion, or building presentation systems in Figma, Google Slides or PowerPoint. This is not primarily a product-design role. Experience with digital products is helpful, but your main responsibility will be how HASH communicates outside the product. ## What you'll do - Design and continuously improve HASH’s core company, sales, pilot and research decks - Turn complex product and process concepts into clear diagrams, illustrations and visual narratives - Create distinctive editorial graphics for blog posts, newsletters, social media, case studies and reports - Build campaign and launch systems that work coherently across several formats - Produce one-pagers, leave-behinds and account-specific sales collateral under real deadlines - Establish modular templates and components that non-designers can use safely - Extend HASH’s visual language across typography, layout, illustration, diagrams, data visualization, screenshots, motion and generated imagery - Maintain organized source files, libraries and practical guidance so work remains reusable - Collaborate with technical experts to make sure diagrams are accurate, not merely plausible - Work with Marketing on briefs and priorities and with Sales on the communication obstacles in live deals - Raise the quality bar while preserving speed ## Why HASH - Define a visual language around difficult and worthwhile ideas, rather than applying an established corporate template - Work across sales, editorial, campaigns, research communication and selected web projects - Collaborate directly with the founder, marketers, sellers, researchers and engineers - Join at a moment of rapid growth, with outsized scope and influence: we're now scaling, having raised $5.5m from Silicon Valley VCs and contracted >$10m revenue in the last 18 months - Be part of a high-agency team that cares about output, ownership and quality ## Benefits A base salary will be offered of £65,000-100,000 in London. In addition, you'll receive generous equity on top of your base salary, in order to align incentives. ## About HASH ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: HASH is an open-source platform for decision-making that integrates live data, constructs ontologies, and creates shared understanding through collaborative agent-based simulation and knowledge modeling tools. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage) - **Headquarters**: London, United Kingdom - **Founded**: 2019 - **Founders**: Joel Spolsky and Jude Allred ## Core Business - Primary industry/industries: Technology, Information and Internet; Business Decision-making Software; Simulation & Modeling - Target customers: B2B, Enterprise (with a focus on safety-critical supply chain, biopharmaceutical logistics, and complex systems modeling) - Mission or purpose statement: "Eliminate information failure and help everybody make the right decisions." ## Products & Services - **[HASH Platform (hash.ai/hash.dev)]**: An open-source, collaborative workspace for structured knowledge that integrates live data, enables ontology construction, and provides fast, distributed agent-based simulation. Combines knowledge capture and modeling tools for complex systems decision-making. - **Block Protocol (blockprotocol.org)**: An open standard they drive for interoperable, data-driven blocks, contributing to the commons. - **Open Source Simulation Engine**: Built in Rust/WASM, focused on agent-based simulation and formal verification of distributed systems. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metrics**: Annual Revenue of approximately $1 million; Total Funding of $2.5 million (1 seed round) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Zetta Venture Partners (Lead), Root Ventures, with 6 total investors in the seed round. They also work with the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) and scientists from the University of Oxford. - **Growth Signals**: Headcount grew 14.3% YoY (now 9 employees); actively recruiting for new engineering and research roles; conducting high-profile research programs with ARIA and Oxford on safety-critical supply chains; 2,460 LinkedIn followers with 15.6% yearly growth; employer rating of 5.0/5.0 on Wellfound. ## Competitive Advantages - **Unique Open-Source Approach**: All core tools are open source, building trust and allowing external validation—rare in the decision-modeling space. - **Technical Moat**: Combines graph-backed world models, formal verification, and agent-based simulation (Rust/WASM) with AI research. Very few companies operate at this specific intersection. - **High-Impact Focus**: Working on genuinely hard problems (eliminating information failure) with safety-critical applications (supply chains, biopharma logistics), giving them a defensible niche. - **Elite Talent Sourcing**: Proactively identify and hire exceptional people through their own tooling and community, not just open applications. ## Strategic Focus - Current priorities: Building a next-generation platform for decision-making via graph-backed world models and AI; expanding into safety-critical supply chain management with government and research partners; advancing their open standard (Block Protocol). - Direction for growth: Scaling the engineering team (Rust, TypeScript, Python), deepening AI research (graph learning, formal verification), and expanding use cases in complex systems simulation. ## Why Work Here - **Culture & Work Style**: "We care about output, ownership, and quality." They value raw intelligence, high-energy, and standout performance. The team works in public, contributing heavily to open source. - **In-Person Focus**: Operates in-person from offices in **London** (HQ) and **Berlin**, with company-wide get-togethers at least twice a year in Europe. Some remote flexibility is available (e.g., Full-Stack Engineer roles can be in-office or remote). - **Compensation & Perks**: "Leading compensation" with meaningful equity, competitive salaries, an 'unlimited' equipment and learning allowance, and at least 30 days paid time-off each year. - **Engineering Culture**: Work on hard problems in Rust, TypeScript, and Python, including formal verification, graph learning, and simulation. They emphasize a fast, conviction-based hiring process with decisions made "within days, not weeks." - **Hiring Process**: A short introductory call followed by a focused work sample or technical deep-dive. Most hires begin with HASH reaching out, but candidates can apply for specific roles. ## Sources 1. [hash.ai](https://hash.ai/careers) 2. [hash.dev](https://hash.dev/careers) 3.
