The most important companies of this era are private, and almost no one can own them. What's missing is the financial system public markets spent a century building: exchanges, custodians, brokers, and ways for ordinary people to buy in. Private markets, now $28T, never had the equivalent. AngelList is building it. The last decade of structural innovation in venture happened here: syndicates, SPVs at scale, Rolling Funds, scout programs. Today we have $200B+ in assets and 30,000+ startups funded on our platform. The rest of private markets is next. Funds is the software and services behind private funds, Nova is the banking network, Meridian is the wealth platform for accredited investors, and USVC is the brand behind a registered fund that lets anyone invest in venture. Working here means an unusual amount of agency on a problem that matters. Titles are closer to suggestions, and there are about 200 of us building what private markets never had. Come build it with us. About the Role: Meridian Platform Securities LLC is a registered broker-dealer and placement agent built for the modern private markets. We work with fund managers, sponsors, and issuers to connect capital with opportunity, with the rigor, structure, and integrity that investors demand. Compliance is not an afterthought here. It is core infrastructure, and we are looking for a CCO who sees it that way too. You will own compliance end to end. That means building and maintaining the regulatory framework that lets us grow confidently rather than reactively, serving as our Series 24 principal, and holding the primary relationship with FINRA, the SEC, and applicable state regulators. You will be a trusted partner to leadership and a strategic resource for the deal team. You will be our first in-house CCO, standing the program up and taking it over from a vendor handoff already in motion. You'll be in the room when deals and new products take shape, so compliance moves at the same speed as the deal team, finding the creative compliant path to “yes” on deal timelines. The program you build will scale with the firm. You'll start with a lean team and a live exam already underway. ## Responsibilities - Serve as the firm's designated CCO under FINRA Rule 3130, own the Written Supervisory Procedures, - Be the deal team's compliance partner: review and clear diligence, marketing materials, private placement memoranda, and investor communications, and pressure-test new product structures so they are built compliantly from day one, on deal timelines. - Manage FINRA and SEC examinations, inquiries, and correspondence from first notice through resolution, and run the annual compliance review with findings to senior management. - Own registration and licensing across jurisdictions (principals, registered reps, state blue sky), maintain books and records under SEC Rules 17a-3 and 17a-4, and manage outside counsel on regulatory matters. - Administer the firm's AML/BSA program, and monitor FINRA, SEC, FinCEN, and state developments, translating them into policy before they become problems. You may be a good fit if you - Hold an active Series 24 in good standing and have 7+ years of compliance experience at a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, including 3+ years in a senior or lead compliance role (ideally an online BD or fintech). - Know private placements, Regulation D, secondaries, and the mechanics of how placement agents operate. - Have managed FINRA cycle exams and regulatory inquiries yourself, not just supported them. - Want to be the first in-house compliance hire and build the program from early stages. - Bonus: Experience with SPVs, fund administration, syndication platforms, or exempt offering structures. Working Here If you don’t meet every requirement above, we still encourage you to apply. We value complementary strengths and operators who learn by doing. We operate out of hubs in New York City and San Francisco. For most roles on those teams, we work from the office at least two days per week (Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday). Compensation:The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $285,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Full details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process. Benefits:We support your life both in and outside of work. The company's stated goal is to solve the "ownership gap" for private companies — building the equivalent of public-market infrastructure (exchanges, custodians, transfer agents, brokers, retail distribution) for private markets, which now represent more than $28T in U.S. fund AUM. ## Products & Services - **AngelList Funds**: The administration layer for venture capital — enables fund managers to launch and operate venture funds, SPVs, and syndicates on the platform. - **USVC**: The brand behind retail access to venture investing, allowing non-institutional investors to participate in private-market deals. - **Meridian**: The wealth layer for private markets; a platform for managing private-market assets and portfolio operations. - **Nova** (coming soon): The banking and payments layer for private markets, announced as the next major product release. - **Scout Funds & SPVs**: Additional investment vehicles supported on the platform alongside venture funds. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (private company) - **Key Metric**: Total funding of $124.1M (8 prior rounds). Platform scale figures are conflicting across sources: LinkedIn reports **$171B in assets on platform, 25K+ funds and syndicates, and 72K active investors**, while Built In reports **$15B in assets for fund managers, 17K+ startup investments (including 287 unicorns), and 1.3K startups using founder services** — both cited below as conflicting reports. - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Not publicly available in the provided data sources. - **Growth Signals**: Acquired Nova (banking/payments layer) in July 2023; acquired Prospectify (2019) and Product Hunt (2016, for $20M); has delivered $10B in capital to startups with a stated ambition to reach $10T; active hiring across Engineering, Data, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Success teams. ## Competitive Advantages - **Network effects / de facto standard**: Positions itself as the default platform for startup investing, with 25K+ funds and syndicates and 72K active investors on platform (per LinkedIn data). - **Full-stack private-market infrastructure**: Unlike point solutions, AngelList spans fund administration (Funds), retail access (USVC), wealth management (Meridian), and soon banking/payments (Nova) — a vertically integrated stack for private markets. - **Data moat**: Years of transaction, fund, and investor data create switching costs for fund managers and investors alike. - **Founder-friendly brand equity**: Long-standing reputation in the startup ecosystem, including backing 287 unicorns (per Built In). ## Strategic Focus - **Launching Nova**: The banking and payments layer for private markets is positioned as the next major growth vector, completing the company's "financial system for private markets" vision. - **Scaling Meridian**: Building out the wealth layer to serve private-market asset management at scale. - **Expanding retail access**: Growing USVC to bring venture investing to a broader audience beyond accredited investors. - **Growing platform AUM**: Pushing from $10B in capital delivered toward the stated $10T ambition. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: The company emphasizes high agency and ownership — described as "no ladders, only roads," where employees are expected to pave their own career paths and take on more than peers in the industry, faster, with less. - **Work mode**: Hybrid roles available in San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY (e.g., Senior Platform Engineer, Investor Services Specialist, Investment Operations Associate). - **Funder & founders program**: Employees can invest up to $100K from an AngelList fund into deals they source and earn 20% of the profits from those investments. - **Financial wellbeing**: Competitive salary, 401K, equity, FSA, and access to a finance coach. - **Healthcare**: Premium medical, dental, vision coverage, One Medical, wellness coach, FSA, Carrot fertility benefits, and generous parental leave. - **Lifestyle perks**: Unlimited PTO, unlimited book stipend, wellness reimbursement, and a remote office budget (co-working/home office). - **Office perks**: In-office meals, coffee walks, team offsites, commuter benefits, and safe rides home. - **Team size (conflicting reports)**: The careers page cites a team of 140; LinkedIn reports 321 employees (-0.7% YoY); Built In reports 518 total employees across 3 offices. ## Sources 1.
