At C12, we believe that achieving a true breakthrough in quantum computing requires rethinking the fundamentals. That’s why our founders—deeply rooted in academic and engineering excellence—have chosen carbon nanotubes as the building blocks of our quantum processors. This ultra-pure material dramatically reduces error rates, boosts performance, and minimizes hardware overhead—key ingredients for scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing. By crafting a unique approach that scales, we aim to revolutionize quantum computing just as silicon transformed classical computing. Since our founding, we’ve raised over €25 million in funding, published 11 scientific papers, and secured 8 patents. Today, our fast-growing team of 80+, including 25 PhDs, has over 26 nationalities represented. We have our own cutting-edge lab spaces in Paris' historic Panthéon district, where scientists, engineers, and innovators work side-by-side to tackle some of the most exciting technical challenges of our time. If you're passionate about shaping the future of quantum technology and want to make a real impact, C12 offers a unique environment to grow, learn, and innovate. The Chip Design Team works at the heart of this development. It provides a safe environment for the quantum processor – the qubit – as well as pathways to interact with qubit. We work in collaboration with other teams, providing them validation methods and data for the same for their experiments in improving qubit quality. You're internship at C12 Quantum Electronics: C12 Quantum Electronics is looking for an intern to join the Chip Design team and contribute across the development process, from design and simulation to experimental measurements and data analysis. Working closely with the team, you will investigate how on-chip component designs translate into measured performance and how these findings support the work of other teams. The role includes performing experiment-specific measurements at millikelvin temperatures, with hands-on involvement in setting up the dilution refrigerator and measurement equipment, and analyzing the resulting data - including maintaining and improving the (python) code for data analysis and visualization. By connecting design work with experimental results, you will gain a practical understanding of how chip design contributes to a quantum compter’s broader development efforts while working collaboratively with engineers and researchers across teams. Key responsibilities: - Simulate and compare designs, explore trade-offs, and investigate the relationship between predicted and measured performance. - Help cycling the dilution refrigerator based on the experiment requirements, and coordinate the measurement equipment as needed. - Carry out measurements and log data. - Process, analyze, and visualize experimental data to characterize component performance and inform further design work. - Document code, simulation methods, experimental procedures, and results clearly to support reproducibility and knowledge sharing. - Collaborate with engineers and researchers across teams, communicating findings and relating them to shared technical goals. About you: - You are completing or have recently completed a master’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field. You are interested in quantum technologies and enjoy the process of conducting experiments from start to finish. - You have a strong background in quantum physics and have taken courses on Quantum Electromagnetism. Exposure to Quantum Information is a strong plus. - You have Python programming skills. - You have an interest in experimental work, including setting up measurement equipment, and troubleshooting. - You have a collaborative mindset, with the willingness to communicate your findings, ask questions, and work constructively with colleagues from different technical backgrounds. - You are curious about quantum experimentation, and are willing to learn new methods and work in a start-up environment. - Previous exposure to circuit or electromagnetic simulation, electronic measurements, quantum devices, or cryogenic systems would be appreciated. - You speak and write English fluently. What we offer our interns: €1,400 Two incredible office spaces in the heart of Paris (both next to the famous Panthéon!) Swile meal vouchers Vibrant office culture (team lunches, offsite events, Friday breakfasts..) Mental health support with moka.care You should join us if... You want to contribute to achieving landmark results in quantum computing, making a difference in the emerging quantum technologies You want to work within a 80+ people team with various backgrounds in nanofabrication, quantum electronics, and carbon nanotube science to create a revolutionary quantum computing processor You want to thrive in an exceptional scientific environment with several industrial and academic partners You share our values (excellence, scientific integrity, diversity, curiosity, and care) and want to help us define our product-focused culture and ambition to accelerate C12 encourages all who feel qualified to apply. Recruitment decisions are based solely on qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience. Applications from women are particularly encouraged and welcomed! ## About C12 Quantum Electronics ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: C12 Quantum Electronics builds scalable, carbon-nanotube-based quantum computers to unlock breakthroughs in materials science, chemistry, and industrial optimization. - **Entity Type**: Private (Pre-Series A; raised €18M pre-Series A + $10M seed) - **Headquarters**: Paris, France (two offices near the Panthéon, Quartier Latin) - **Founded**: 2020 - **Founders**: Matthieu Desjardins and Pierre Desjardins (twin brothers), spun out of ENS Physics Lab ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Quantum Computing / Computer Hardware Manufacturing - **Target customers**: B2B, Enterprise, Industrial R&D (partnering with leading industrial companies on early quantum adoption) - **Mission**: Build a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer using carbon-based qubits, solving the scalability limits of other approaches. ## Products & Services - **Carbon-based quantum processors**: Proprietary qubits made from carbon nanotubes, offering world-class coherence times and a novel interconnect architecture that avoids the scalability issues of silicon-based qubits. - **Callisto Quantum Emulator**: A software emulator grounded in carbon nanotube physics, enabling developers to design and refine quantum algorithms on realistic hardware models. - **Quantum Fab & Foundry Services**: An 800m² in-house fabrication hub (cleanroom, cryostats, full-stack control) in Paris for prototyping and producing quantum chips. - **Industrial Partnership Programs**: Early revenue-generating collaborations with industrial companies to explore quantum advantage in materials, chemistry, and optimization. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding ~€25M+ (€18M pre-Series A + $10M seed); 80+ employees; 24+ nationalities; 20+ PhDs; 11 scientific publications; multiple foundational patents - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Backed by European deeptech investors; scientific advisors include Takis Kontos and Matthieu Delbecq (ENS Physics Lab) - **Growth Signals**: Team grew from 10 to 80+ in ~3 years; opened a second office (600m²) in Paris; first quantum chip production line built; record-setting coherence time breakthrough published in *Nature Communications*; early revenue from industrial partnerships ## Competitive Advantages - **Unique materials approach**: Uses carbon nanotubes instead of silicon, delivering higher qubit quality and a fundamentally better way to connect qubits at scale. - **Full-stack vertical integration**: In-house quantum fab (cleanroom, cryostats, control electronics) gives them end-to-end control over fabrication and testing. - **IP moat**: First wave of foundational patents in qubit control, carbon nanotube growth, and quantum device architecture. - **World-class team**: 20+ PhDs, 24+ nationalities, strong academic ties to ENS Physics Lab. ## Strategic Focus - Scale the team past 100 as they advance toward a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer. - Deepen industrial partnerships and revenue streams to demonstrate real-world quantum advantage. - Continue improving qubit coherence and connectivity through materials science breakthroughs. - Expand IP portfolio and scientific publications to strengthen competitive position. ## Why Work Here - **Mission-driven deep tech**: Work on one of the most transformative technologies of the century — quantum computing — with a unique, science-backed approach. - **Location & space**: Two connected offices in the heart of Paris (Quartier Latin), totaling 1,400m² of labs and workspace.
