This is the firm's largest revenue area (55%+ of federal obligations per USAspending). - **Data Analytics & Process Automation**: Helping government clients extract insights from financial and operational data, build cost efficiencies, and enable data storytelling. The firm has recently pivot ed heavily into data, pairing financial system data with operational data. - **Acquisition Support Services**: Support for acquisition and procurement functions within federal agencies. The CEO states the team is "about 50 employees" in a 2024 interview [federalnewsnetwork.com](https://federalnewsnetwork.com/the-business-of-defense/2024/04/taking-a-long-view-on-growth-as-a-small-govcon-in-the-dmv/). The most recent figure (~50) is likely the most accurate. - **Notable Win**: Part of the team that helped the **U.S. Marine Corps achieve the first clean audit opinion by any U.S. military service** — a marquee achievement in federal financial management. - **SBIR Award (2025)**: Awarded $101,261 from the DoD for a Phase I SBIR project: *"Leveraging Generative AI and Synthetic Cognition for Mission Optimization and Workforce Development in Defense Operations"* (Topic OSD254-P001) [sbir.gov](https://www.sbir.gov/portfolio/2662112). - **Key Agency Customers**: Department of the Navy ($1.40M), Defense Human Resources Activity ($966K), Defense Logistics Agency ($784K), and Missile Defense Agency. ## Competitive Advantages - **Certifications & Set-Asides**: EDWOSB, Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), 8(a) Program Participant, and Minority-Owned Business designations — positioning it favorably for federal set-aside contracts [usaspending.gov](https://www.usaspending.gov/recipient/adabb610-ee7e-8193-cd5e-c830ff136f11-C/latest). - **Audit Readiness Expertise**: Proven track record with the Marine Corps' clean audit — the first ever achieved by a military service — giving the firm credibility and a clear pitch for similar work at other agencies. - **Focused Operating Model**: Deliberate strategy of staying concentrated in financial modernization and transformation ("You can't get your hands in too many pots") while "radiating" into adjacent capabilities like data analytics and AI [federalnewsnetwork.com](https://federalnewsnetwork.com/the-business-of-defense/2024/04/taking-a-long-view-on-growth-as-a-small-govcon-in-the-dmv/). - **Senior Leadership Depth**: CEO Hailey Le has deep DoD transformation experience spanning back to the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) Commission. ## Strategic Focus - **Financial Modernization & Audit Sustainment**: Continuing to support clean audits and building the controls required to maintain them across defense agencies. - **Data & AI Expansion**: Growing the data analytics practice — helping customers "tell a story" with financial and operational data, reducing duplicative feeder systems, and enabling clean data. - **Generative AI for Defense**: New SBIR-funded research applying Microsoft's GenAI stack and "Synthetic Cognition" to workforce development, talent attrition, scenario simulation, and predictive analytics in defense operations [sbir.gov](https://www.sbir.gov/portfolio/2662112). - **Radiating Growth**: Methodically expanding from core financial systems support into adjacent transformation needs at existing customer agencies. ## Why Work Here - **Mission-Driven Work**: Directly support U.S. military departments and federal agencies on high-visibility programs like the Marine Corps' audit success — work with tangible national impact. - **Flexible Work Modes**: Open roles span remote, hybrid, and on-site arrangements (Arlington, VA and multiple locations) [jobs.lever.co](https://jobs.lever.co/redwoodstrategygroup). - **Small-Team Visibility**: At ~50 employees, staff get direct exposure to senior leadership and broad ownership across projects — a distinct contrast to large defense primes. - **Growth Trajectory**: The company is expanding into data, AI, and SBIR-funded research, offering employees early exposure to emerging GenAI applications in government. - **Clearance Note**: Several roles require an **active security clearance** (e.g., Defense Travel SME, OneStream Programmer), so holding or being eligible for a DoD clearance is a significant advantage. - **Diverse-Owned Culture**: As a minority-owned, economically disadvantaged woman-owned small business, the firm carries a genuine commitment to diversity at the ownership level. ## Sources 1.
