You'll decide what we publish, write it yourself, and ship it, from long-form essays and customer stories to launches and the newsletter. Engineers are some of the most skeptical readers anywhere. Every software vendor promises faster, safer, better, and they've learned to tune it out. Your job is to write things they trust: specific, true and worth their time. Hardware engineering is going through its biggest change in decades, and almost nobody is writing about it well. You'll interview the engineers building rockets, EVs and fusion reactors, work directly with our CEO, and turn what they know into writing the industry seeks out and shares. What you write will shape how the hardware world understands Flow. ## What you'll do - Own the editorial calendar: Decide what Flow publishes, when and why. - Set the bar: Define Flow's editorial voice and style, and keep every piece clear, specific and accurate. - Write the big pieces: Essays, guides and original perspectives on how hardware gets built, from requirements and verification to AI in engineering. - Find stories in the field: Interview engineers at orgs like Rivian, Stoke Space, NASA; visit test sites and factories, and turn what you find into customer stories people want to read. - Build signature formats: Create recurring series that readers come to expect from Flow, like customer field stories, technical explainers or a must-read newsletter. - Write for launches: Draft announcements, blog posts and product pages for new Flow releases. - Write with our leaders: Help our CEO and engineers publish bylines, LinkedIn posts and talks in their own voice. - Grow our audience: Use search and AI-answer visibility (SEO and GEO) to shape what you write from the start, not as a cleanup pass at the end. - Use AI well: Build a writing workflow where AI tools speed up research and drafting without lowering the bar. - Measure what works: Track traffic, engagement and pipeline influence, and use what you learn to decide what to write next. What success looks like - In 3 months: You know our customers and product well enough to write about them with authority, and you've shipped your first customer story and long-form piece. - In 6 months: You've launched a signature series, made the newsletter something engineers look forward to, and set a steady publishing cadence. - In 12 months: Flow is the company hardware engineers read to understand where their industry is going. ## What we're looking for - You have taste. You can't walk past a vague sentence or a case study that says nothing. You know the difference between content that's technically correct and content that's worth reading. - You're a proven writer. You have [6+] years of professional writing experience in content marketing, journalism, editorial or a similar field, and a body of published work you wrote yourself, including long-form pieces you're proud of. - You make hard things clear. You can explain complex technical topics without flattening them or falling back on generic tech-marketing language. You can tell when a technical claim is load-bearing and when it's decoration. - You're deeply curious. You learn unfamiliar subjects fast, ask sharp questions, and earn credibility with engineers and executives alike. - You have a point of view on AI. You've written with AI tools yourself, you know what to trust them with, and you have opinions about where they break down. - You'd rather write than manage. You enjoy doing the work and shipping it yourself. - You run your own show. You pitch ideas, juggle several pieces at once, and publish consistently without being chased. - You're low-ego and collaborative. You take feedback well and make the people around you sound better. ## Nice to have - Experience writing for engineers or technical audiences, especially in aerospace, automotive, energy, defense or developer tools. - An engineering or science background, or time spent covering hardware as a journalist. - Experience at an early-stage B2B startup. - A track record of growing organic search and AI-answer visibility for a technical brand. ## About Flow Engineering ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Flow Engineering provides an agentic platform for systems engineering that enables hardware teams to manage requirements, design, and testing through a living system of record and AI agents. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series stage not explicitly stated; raised ~$40M total from Sequoia Capital and others) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2023 - **Founders**: Pari Singh (CEO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Systems engineering software / hardware development tools - **Target customers**: B2B, Enterprise – hardware engineering teams in aerospace, automotive, robotics, defense, and energy (e.g., Rivian, Joby, Astranis, Radiant Nuclear) - **Mission or purpose statement**: “Help unlock the next generation of hardware” – rebuild systems engineering for the agentic era, enabling teams to design, build, test, and iterate physical systems in hours, not months. ## Products & Services - **Flow Platform**: A requirements management and systems engineering tool that links requirements, design (CAD), simulations, code, and tests in a single “living system of record”. Features include branching/merging, impact analysis agents, systems graph, flexible data model, and AI agents (e.g., Impact Analysis Agent, Safety & Regulatory Compliance Agent, Mass/Cost/Power Budget Agent). Deployable in cloud, GovCloud, or self-hosted with ITAR, export control, and data residency. - **Flow v3**: Latest version – first agentic platform for systems engineering, allowing AI agents to perform real engineering work inside hardware development workflows. - **Flow Engineering Handbook**: Published guide on AI Systems Engineering for the agentic era. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total Funding ~$40M as of most recent round (non‑equity assistance and multiple seed rounds; led by Sequoia Capital and EQT Ventures); Annual Revenue estimated at $2.0M (LinkedIn data) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Sequoia Capital (lead investor; partner Roelof Botha on board), Patrick and John Collison (Stripe co‑founders), David Helgason (Unity co‑founder), EQT Ventures, Google for Startups - **Growth Signals**: - Used by tens of thousands of engineers across teams like Rivian (1,500+ engineers), Joby Aviation, Astranis, Radiant Nuclear, Impulse Space, Mytra, Volkswagen Group Technologies. - Active job postings: 10–12 open roles (as of mid‑2026), with quarterly job posting growth of +66.7%. - Backed by Sequoia Capital (partnered in 2025); company has grown to ~27 employees with presence in US, UK, Sweden, Spain. - Headcount growth recent month showed -6.9%, but same‑source LinkedIn shows heavily active hiring pipeline. ## Competitive Advantages - **Agent‑first systems engineering**: First platform to integrate AI agents that reason across the entire engineering graph (requirements, CAD, simulation, test). Agents perform impact analysis, compliance checks, and budget tracking automatically. - **Defense‑grade security & compliance**: ITAR/EAR aligned, NIST 800‑171, CUI, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA – essential for regulated industries. - **Living system of record**: All engineering artifacts linked and version‑controlled with branching/merging, enabling zero‑cost change propagation. - **High‑value customer base**: Signed marquee hardware companies (Rivian, Joby, Astranis) that are building the next generation of rockets, eVTOL, satellites, and robots. - **Strong investor backing**: Sequoia Capital (a top‑tier VC) and technical co‑founder endorsements (Collison, Helgason) provide credibility and network. ## Strategic Focus - **Agentic transformation**: Doubling down on AI agents that can perform real engineering work (not just assist) – moving from analog/digital to “agentic” era. - **Scaling to enterprise & defense**: Expanding GovCloud, self‑hosted, and ITAR‑compliant deployments to win defense and compliance‑driven contracts. - **Category creation**: Replacing traditional requirements tools (like IBM DOORS) with a modern, agent‑centric platform. - **Global hiring**: Aggressively hiring for engineering (AI, frontend, full‑stack, infrastructure) and sales roles across San Francisco and London. ## Why Work Here - **Impact at scale**: Work directly on tools used by companies building rockets, electric vehicles, autonomous robots – your code ships into real hardware. - **Engineering culture**: Emphasis on shipping a V1 quickly, iterating, and maintaining “zero cost of change.” Values include speed, fundamentals done well, maximum effort/maximum fun. - **Work environment**: Hybrid/remote policies not explicitly stated, but roles are listed in San Francisco (in‑office likely for engineering) and London. Equity offered across all roles. - **Compensation**: Salaries range $120K–$300K for US roles with equity; London roles £80K–£180K. - **Team culture**: Backed by Sequoia, described as a “small team with huge leverage” – ~27 employees currently but growing fast. - **Notable perks**: Free trial demo available; engineering handbook published; company rating 4.0/5 on LinkedIn (16 reviews), with strong compensation (4.0) and culture (3.8) scores. ## Sources 1.
