Content Marketing Manager owns the content strategy, narrative and visual identity for TakealotMore as well as cross platform initiatives for Takealot, Mr D and TakealotMORE. This role is responsible for how the brand looks and speaks across every channel, on and off platform, Content Marketing above the line, direct CRM comms and in product. It combines strategic ownership of content and design with hands-on management of a design team and AI-driven production tools, to scale output without compromising consistency and quality. This position reports to the Group Head: Cross-Platform Customer Growth Your responsibilities will include: Content & Narrative: - Own the overarching content marketing and narrative strategy, including the story that drives understanding of TakealotMORE and ecosystem cross-shop. - Write and oversee copy for all channels, on and off platform (performance marketing, email, social, onsite, print, PR, video, webinars, UX copy for mobile app and in-app content). - Manage content across off-platform channels - using editorials and advertorials to position TakealotMore in the minds of consumers. - Own and manage the content calendar, using AI tools to support scheduling, drafting and version management where it reduces manual workload. - Build and manage AI agents/tools to support copy creation and content production at scale. - Map content to the customer journey (awareness, consideration, conversion, retention) rather than producing content on a channel-by-channel basis. - Own content's contribution to acquisition and retention funnels, including TakealotMORE sign-ups, alongside brand and engagement metrics. - Contribute towards owned media as a deliberate growth channel (app content, lifecycle emails, push notifications), not only campaign-based content. - Develop lifecycle/CRM content tied to customer lifecycle stages, working with the CRM/lifecycle team to fit into the group CRM strategy. - Track and report on content-attributed growth metrics (traffic, conversion, retention/repeat-purchase lift), in addition to engagement and brand metrics. Visual Identity & Design: - Create, own and manage the TakealotMORE visual identity end to end on and off platform. - Set and enforce templatisation standards so look and feel are consistent across ATL, BTL and direct channels, across both Mr D and Takealot. - Manage the graphic design team, including workload, quality control and output against brief. - Build and manage AI agents/tools to support visual creation and templating at scale. Audience, Community & Market Insight: - Conduct audience research to understand customer needs, preferences and behaviours, and use this to shape content and design decisions. - Monitor the web and social media, engaging in discussions about the company, competitors and industry. - Manage online presence across major social media channels, using AI tools to triage and flag customer queries/comments that need action, escalating where human response is needed. - Participate in setting marketing plans and strategy, feeding audience and market insight into broader marketing decisions. - Keep up to date with competitor developments, industry best practice and global trends, and share insights with the team. Process & Collaboration: - Create and maintain SOPs for cross-company collaboration (Takealot, Mr D, external agencies, internal creative team). - Create and maintain SOPs for team briefs, to standardise how work comes into the design and content function. - Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across marketing, design, product, partnerships, retail and marketplace. - Build out ai agents to help the team create structure and collaboration and manage the ai agent workforce for design and content creation. Performance & Reporting: - Monitor and report on content and design performance (engagement, ROI, brand consistency, audience growth), using AI tools to automate reporting where possible. - Produce regular output reports with insights and recommendations for optimising future content and design strategy. - Run experimentation (A/B testing) on format, messaging and creative to optimise outcomes. - Continuously refine strategy based on performance data and competitor/industry trends. Qualification & Experience: - Bachelor's Degree  and Master’s Degree preferable. - 5 - 7+ years' experience in content, copywriting, brand or design leadership roles. - Proven experience owning a brand's visual identity across multiple channels. - Strong copywriting and content strategy background, across multiple formats and platforms. - Excellent proofreader, with strong attention to detail. - Active and well-rounded personal presence on social media, with an understanding of each platform and best practice. Attributes Required: - Strategic mindset, comfortable operating at a level that influences brand and business direction, not just executing on brief. - Data-driven, able to interpret performance metrics and translate into strategy. - Strong stakeholder management across a matrixed, multi-brand structure. - Blogging and ad agency experience advantageous. - Knowledge of e-commerce and food delivery industries advantageous. - Experience in content-led growth or performance content marketing, in addition to brand/creative content. - Understanding of attribution and how content contributes to funnel and growth metrics, beyond engagement numbers.
