Intern Project- What You'll Do: - Support the development of a knowledge and tools repository focused on freight corridor electrification deployments, including researching and organizing relevant data and resources, and refining and compiling existing tools. - Support the development of a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model that assesses the impact of different policy measures on vehicle economics (e.g., road charges, feebates, etc.) for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, incorporating key vehicle, energy, infrastructure, operational, and financing parameters. - Translate analytical results into clear visualizations, summaries, and user-friendly outputs for policymakers and other stakeholders. - Collaborate with members of the Drive to Zero team and other CALSTART teams to prepare existing tools and resources for global adaptation and replication. - Support other research and analytical activities related to zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, infrastructure, and enabling policy as needed. Intern Project Key Deliverables: Toolkit for freight corridor electrification deployments Qualifications: - Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a Master's degree in engineering, energy, transportation, environmental science, economics, data science, public policy, or a related field. - Experience developing quantitative models, particularly TCO, techno-economic, financial, or policy-impact models. - Familiarity with web-based tools, databases, dashboards, or digital knowledge platforms. - Knowledge of zero emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, transportation electrification, charging infrastructure, or energy systems. - Familiarity with clean transportation policies and the role of incentives, taxation, regulation, and other policy mechanisms in influencing vehicle economics. - Experience translating analytical work into intuitive and user-friendly tools or visualizations. - Interest in working in an international environment and supporting governments and other stakeholders in the transition to zero-emission transportation. - Weekly Minimum Hours of Availability: 15-20 We understand that not everyone will match the above qualifications 100%.
