Level99 Engineers identify critical aspects of new challenges and create prototypes to assess both the technical and experiential risks presented. They work closely with the project management, creative, and software development teams to ensure that scenic details and important gameplay moments are successfully executed. The Design Engineer drafts drawing packages that detail the construction of rooms for both in-house and external fabrication, and oversees the production and final assembly process, continually improving designs after installation.  This is a “working” design engineer role, with the Design Engineer responsible for managing and organizing the work, as well as prototyping and implementing finished solutions directly.  A Design Engineer is passionate about getting the details right, anticipating staff and guest needs, and advancing the Level99 brand.  A Level99 Engineer has honesty and personal integrity that is above reproach, prefers a joyful and positive approach to challenging situations, chooses humility over the need to “be right,” and in all things acts as though s/he is the Owner and Operator of each Level99 venue. ## RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop, design, prototype, and test technical and experiential aspects of new gameplay elements - Redline drawings and visit fabricators for buy-offs and acceptance testing - Draft comprehensive, accurate 3D models and consolidated drawing packages detailing architectural and gameplay components for internal and external fabrication - Create and maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date documentation on components - Coordinate with project management, electrical, software, fabrication, and other teams, both internally and externally,  to ensure design intent is clear and correctly executed - Troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems - Identify and interface with external contractors and suppliers - Write, update, and maintain necessary written protocols, manuals, documentation, and procedures to ensure the proper, efficient, and safe operation of the attractions and the facility as a whole ## MUST-HAVE SKILLS - 10+ years mechanical design and 3D modeling experience - Ability to create clear and detailed shop drawings - Hands-on fabrication experience and significant woodworking skills - Basic understanding of and comfort working with low voltage electricity - Ability to self-manage time and resources in a low-oversight environment. OTHER DESIRABLE (BUT NOT NECESSARY) SKILLS & EXPERIENCE INCLUDE - Four year college degree in a relevant design/engineering discipline - Three years’ experience working in a related technical design capacity, preferably with experience specifically in high-traffic location-based entertainment - Advanced fabrication knowledge and hands-on skill working with wood, metal, plastics, etc While we don’t expect a candidate to have deep experience in all of the above, we’re looking for someone with the passion and capability to learn quickly in the areas that are new! YOU MIGHT BE A FIT ON THE LEVEL99 TEAM IF YOU… Like to laugh, would be described as a "low maintenance, low drama" person, have a tendency to have a bit of fun while you work Have a high tolerance for ambiguity, like to go fast, and are excited to learn on the job Are just a little bit obsessive about getting the details right the first time Have a high energy personality, the kind of person who is typically smiling, and likes to "get it done now" Level99 is an E-Verify employer. ## About Level99 Entertainment ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Level99 Entertainment operates first-of-its-kind, real-world interactive entertainment venues for adults, featuring over 50 physical and mental challenge-based games set in immersive artistic environments. - **Entity Type**: Private (Funding stage: Private Equity-backed) - **Headquarters**: Natick, Massachusetts, United States - **Founded**: 2021 - **Founders**: Matthew DuPlessie ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Entertainment Providers, Hospitality, Location-Based Entertainment (LBE) - **Target customers**: B2C – Adults (21+) seeking social, active, and immersive entertainment; B2B – Corporate event planners and group bookings. - **Mission or purpose statement**: To push entertainment to the next level by creating a real-world, social, and challenge-based experience where groups can laugh, compete, and connect. ## Products & Services - **Level99 Venues (Natick, MA; Providence, RI; Tysons, VA; and expanding)**: An adult playground featuring over 50 life-sized mini-games and challenges, including an Axe Run, Crystal Cavern puzzles, and giant pinball.
