Design Manager Location: Bronx, NY 4 days a week on site required Salary: $120,000-$160,000 Position Summary The Design Manager will oversee design compliance, construction quality, and technical coordination on a large-scale project in the Bronx. This role is responsible for ensuring design intent is properly implemented throughout construction while supporting project delivery, regulatory readiness, quality assurance, and stakeholder coordination. ## Key Responsibilities - Ensure designs, building systems, RFIs, submittals, and construction activities comply with project requirements and contract documents. - Review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, material samples, and mock-ups for design conformance. - Conduct field inspections, quality reviews, and pre-walks to support regulatory inspections, testing, and project milestones. - Monitor project progress related to scope, quality, schedule, and cost, and recommend corrective actions as needed. - Coordinate subject matter expert (SME) reviews for critical building systems, including envelope, waterproofing, firestopping, MEP, life safety, acoustics, and security systems. - Review change order requests and provide technical recommendations. - Facilitate resolution of design and construction issues among project stakeholders. - Prepare field observation reports with documentation, tracking issues through final closeout. - Ensure project documentation, quality processes, and records are properly maintained. ## Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. - 15+ years of experience in design review, construction administration, field inspections, and quality assurance. - Experience with high-rise, public sector, or large complex construction projects. - Design-Build project experience strongly preferred. - Professional Architectural License preferred. - Familiarity with NYC regulatory agencies and permitting processes is a plus. - Strong leadership, project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
