This role will provision AWS accounts, instances, and VPCs, establish network connectivity, integrate environments with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub and Jenkins, and use tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible. The DevSecOps Engineer will work with application, infrastructure, security, and cloud teams to gather requirements, define environment needs, and develop technical solutions aligned with VA governance and security standards. ## Key Responsibilities - Lead requirements elicitation across product teams, QA leads, release management, and infrastructure support stakeholders to gather environment and testing needs. - Support solution design for the AWS components of the environment, including AWS account structure, sandbox placement, and network connectivity. - Evaluate and recommend the AWS account and infrastructure configuration needed to co-locate the environment appropriately relative to the production account, including pre-production configuration and the PostgreSQL on RDS backend. - Support determination of sandbox type and sizing to accommodate representative regression testing and performance testing data volumes. - Define test data requirements for the environment, including data representativeness, volume needs, and handling restrictions. - Support definition of the data refresh cadence and refresh ownership for the environment, including assessment of whether a new refresh process requires development. - Inventory the integrations and external interfaces required by the environment and support determination of which interfaces should run live versus stubbed. - Support integration of the environment into the CI/CD pipeline and help define the configuration work needed to support automated regression test execution and performance testing execution. - Apply infrastructure automation practices and DevSecOps principles throughout environment design and configuration activities. - Support definition of the operating model and requirements that place the environment within the release management lifecycle, and collaborate with impacted teams to build alignment on the proposed model. - Coordinate with DTC on sandbox provisioning, sandbox control, and AWS account structure questions. - Participate in technical discovery sessions with application, infrastructure, security, and cloud engineering teams. - Project and document anticipated product count, integration count, and data volumes so the environment design scales as additional products are added. - Support testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities associated with environment configuration and setup. - Maintain compliance with VA security and infrastructure standards (OIT Technical Reference Model), DevSecOps best practices, Change and Release Management standards, and VA Salesforce governance group (DTC) Governance standards. - Maintain positive working relationships with federal clients, delivery teams, and technical stakeholders while supporting mission-critical systems. Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience. - Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, including provisioning accounts, instances, and VPCs, and configuring network connectivity. - Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server infrastructure. - Experience supporting DevSecOps practices, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience supporting infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or system administration activities in enterprise environments. - Experience analyzing infrastructure dependencies, environment configurations, and integration requirements. - Experience leading requirements elicitation sessions with cross-functional business and technical stakeholders, including product, QA, release management, and infrastructure teams. - Ability to translate infrastructure and environment requirements into technical documentation and solution design input. - Strong, hands-on analytical and problem-solving skills — this role requires someone who can directly configure and troubleshoot infrastructure, not only advise on it. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams, including Salesforce, infrastructure, and security stakeholders. - Ability to shift focus between competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. ## Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) - Experience supporting infrastructure for Salesforce environments or sandboxes from an AWS/infrastructure perspective. - Experience supporting federal government systems or environments. - Experience using Jira and Confluence, including version-controlled documentation practices. - Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies. - Experience supporting regression testing or performance testing environment configuration. - Familiarity with database backends such as PostgreSQL on RDS.
