We are working on one of the most ambitious problems in human-AI interaction: creating a more natural way for people to control, guide, and collaborate with AI systems by relying directly on brain activity. Our approach combines optimized non-invasive neural sensors with large-scale AI models trained across many users to decode human intent from brain signals, without surgery. Noïa Labs was founded by the team behind NextMind (acquired by Snap) and is backed by tier-1 investors. We are at the beginning of the journey and are building a team of outstanding engineers and scientists where each person can have a major impact on the product and technology. ## ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer to develop the software that powers our non-invasive neural interface. You will work on a compact wearable system that must acquire high-quality neural signals in real time while operating under tight constraints on latency, power, reliability, and data quality. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building robust embedded systems, working across firmware and hardware, and iterating quickly in a fast-moving startup environment. The role spans firmware architecture, sensor data acquisition, device communication, hardware bring-up, testing and integration, while working closely with electrical engineering, ML, and product. ## IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Design, implement, and validate embedded software for our wearable neural interface. - Develop firmware for sensor acquisition, timing, buffering, and communication. - Bring up, debug, and validate hardware prototypes with the electronics team. - Optimize embedded systems for latency, power, reliability, and signal quality. - Build tools and tests to validate device behavior and data quality. - Work with infra and ML teams to stream neural data reliably into the platform. - Work with suppliers and manufacturers to turn prototypes into products. FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST HAVE: - 5+ years of experience in embedded software, firmware engineering, or a related field - Strong experience writing reliable embedded software in C, C++, or Rust - Experience with microcontrollers, bare-metal systems, RTOS, or embedded Linux - Experience developing firmware for battery-powered or resource-constrained embedded systems - Experience with BLE, Wi-Fi, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, or other device communication protocols - Experience debugging firmware and hardware issues with lab equipment - Strong ownership, practical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail ## IDEALLY, YOU HAVE: - Experience with wearable devices, consumer electronics, medical devices, AR/VR devices, smartwatches, fitness trackers, or biosensing devices - Experience with products using EEG, EMG, ECG, PPG, optical, inertial, or other physiological sensors - Experience with real-time signal acquisition, synchronization, buffering, or streaming - Experience with secure firmware updates, OTA updates, embedded security, or production firmware workflows - Experience supporting hardware bring-up, test automation, supplier coordination, or EVT/DVT/PVT builds In case of any doubts or questions, please contact - careers@noialabs.ai ## About Noïa Labs ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Noïa Labs is an early-stage neurotechnology company building a non-invasive brain-computer interface that combines optimized neural sensors with large-scale AI models to decode human intent from brain signals. - **Entity Type**: Private (early-stage startup, backed by tier-1 investors) - **Headquarters**: Paris, France - **Founded**: Year not publicly disclosed (founded by the team behind NextMind, which was acquired by Snap in 2022) - **Founders**: Not publicly disclosed (team previously founded NextMind) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Neurotechnology, Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI), Human-AI Interaction - **Target customers**: Not explicitly stated; likely B2C (consumer wearable) and/or B2B (developers, researchers) given the product’s dual nature as a hardware device and an AI platform - **Mission or purpose statement**: To create a more natural way for people to control, guide, and collaborate with AI systems by relying directly on brain activity, without surgery. ## Products & Services - **Non-Invasive Neural Interface (wearable device)**: A compact, battery-powered headset that acquires high-quality neural signals in real time. The device combines optimized sensors with large-scale AI models trained across many users to decode intent. The system is designed for low latency, high reliability, and comfortable daily wear. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding not disclosed; backed by tier-1 investors (names not publicly specified) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Tier-1 venture investors (specific names not yet public); team previously founded NextMind (acquired by Snap) - **Growth Signals**: Currently hiring for multiple engineering and scientific roles (Embedded Software Engineer, BCI Scientist, Mechanical Engineer); early-stage with high-impact team; product in development with rapid iteration ## Competitive Advantages - **Non-invasive BCI**: No surgery required, unlike competitors such as Neuralink, making the technology more accessible and scalable. - **AI‑first approach**: Uses large-scale AI models trained across many users to decode neural signals, enabling personalization and generalization. - **Proven team**: Founded by the team behind NextMind, a BCI company that was acquired by Snap, demonstrating deep domain expertise and prior exit experience. - **Wearable form factor**: Focus on ergonomics, comfort, and manufacturability for a real-world product. ## Strategic Focus - **Current priorities**: Building the core hardware and software platform for the non-invasive neural interface; scaling the team of engineers and scientists; iterating on sensor integration, real-time decoding, and user studies. - **Direction for growth**: Moving from prototype to production, refining the AI models for robustness across users and contexts, and eventually bringing a consumer-ready product to market. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Early-stage startup where each person has major impact on product and technology; hands-on roles with fast iteration; collaborative environment across neuroscience, ML, hardware, and product. - **Remote/Hybrid Policy**: Hybrid model with Paris HQ (roles are listed as “Paris, hybrid”). - **Notable Perks**: Opportunity to work on one of the most ambitious problems in human-AI interaction; be part of a small, high-caliber team; work on cutting-edge BCI technology from concept to mass production. - **Engineering Culture**: Emphasis on ownership, practical problem-solving, and attention to detail. Cross-functional collaboration with electrical engineering, ML, and product teams. ## Sources 1.
