We are a disruptive, VC-backed climate tech company based in Silicon Valley with offices in Australia and Europe. Our cutting-edge technology leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize renewable energy and battery storage projects on the electricity grid. Our products help project owners achieve strong economics and operational excellence, paving the way for a decarbonized and profitable future grid. We work on exciting projects with leaders in the world’s most lucrative and complex electricity markets. We are looking for someone with deep experience in electricity market operations or trading who is excited to apply their expertise to guide our customers through the sales, onboarding and operations with out products while helping our technical teams build the next generation of energy software. This position is based in Australia, with a preference for candidates who can work from our Melbourne office two to three days per week. ## About the Role As an Energy Market Analyst, you will bring your real-world experience from electricity markets to enable our customers to gain the most value out of the products suite as well as helping shape how Powerline’s products analyse and optimise energy assets. In this customer-centric role, you will understand the balance our customers navigate between risk and reward. Your experience will allow you to work closely with traders, asset operators, and renewable developers to analyze market outcomes, evaluate trading and development strategies, and deliver recommendations that improve the value our solutions provided to our clients. You will also collaborate closely with our engineering team to help build our client-focused development roadmap to ensure our products solve real commercial challenges faced by developers, operators, and energy traders. This role sits at the intersection of electricity markets, customers, and product development, helping translate real-world trading and operational workflows into better software and better outcomes for our customers. Core Responsibilities As a key member of the team, your primary focus will be on managing our customers' experience and use of the suite throughout their lifecycle. From pre-sales, through to implementation and ongoing technical account management, you will be the customer’s main point of contact, advice and support. You will be their advocate within Powerline ensuring that they capture the value that is already available to them within the suite and helping guide the roadmap to further improve the value they can capture. Your work will focus on two core areas: 1. Improve Customer Performance Work directly with traders, asset operators, and developers to help them maximize the value of their energy assets. - Provide technical preparation and assistance with sales to new customers, take the lead on customer implementations and on-going operations - Work closely with customers to ensure they are both successful using Powerline’s tools to make better decisions through: - Analysis of trading outcomes and asset performance across electricity markets. - Identifying opportunities to improve revenue through better trading strategies, forecasting insights, or operational decisions. - Delivering actionable recommendations that help customers improve asset performance and increase revenue. - Building customer capability and capacity to fully leverage the solutions. - Provide insights on market dynamics and emerging opportunities in wholesale electricity markets. 1. Improve Powerline Products Use your real-world market expertise, and identified customer needs, to help improve Powerline’s software and analytics. - Work with engineers to improve dashboards, visualisations, and analytical tools used by traders and asset operators. - Provide ideas and feedback on how to improve simulations, forecasting models, and optimization algorithms. - Translate real-world trading workflows into product requirements and feature improvements. - Identify new analyses or tools that would help customers better understand and optimize their assets. ## Requirements - Experience working in the NEM; ideally in a role focused on spot analysis/trading, asset optimisation, or control room operations. - Strong understanding of power market fundamentals, including dispatch dynamics, bidding strategies, and revenue drivers for energy assets. - Experience analysing large energy datasets and extracting insights that support trading, operational, or commercial decisions. - Comfort working with data analysis using SQL, Python, or similar analytics tools. - Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Ability to clearly communicate complex market insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical rigor. - Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Strong Plus - Experience trading or optimizing battery storage assets or renewable portfolios. - Experience building dashboards, automated reports, or market analytics tools. - Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for data analysis. ## About Powerline ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Powerline provides an AI-driven digital twin platform that delivers continuous performance benchmarking, market simulation, and actionable intelligence for battery energy storage portfolios. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage; $7M raised) - **Headquarters**: Palo Alto, California, USA (San Francisco Bay Area) - **Founded**: 2021 - **Founders**: Matineh Eybpoosh (CEO) and Julian Lamy (CTO) ## Core Business - Primary industry: Services for Renewable Energy / Energy Storage Software - Target customers: B2B – project developers, utilities, and large-scale battery asset owners - Mission: To maximize revenue, accurately benchmark performance, and scale battery operations with confidence through AI-powered intelligence. ## Products & Services - **Battery Co‑Pilot™**: An independent, EMS-agnostic AI digital twin that integrates market signals, bottom‑up simulations, and operational data.
