With a strong customer pipeline, Sage Care is transforming healthcare by simplifying care navigation. Our platform makes it easier for patients to find the right doctor and helps providers focus on those who need them most through harnessing the latest AI innovations. Building on our successful collaborations with health systems across the U.S., we have expanded internationally to the MENA region. We are now partnering with health systems there to deploy our AI-powered care navigation platform. ## ABOUT THE ROLE A core part of our product is integrating with healthcare partners through Epic to read and write critical data—including provider information, referrals, patient charts and history, and clinical workflows. These integrations power key products such as Provider Matching, Scheduling, Referral Recommendations, and AI voice agents. As an Epic Integration Specialist, you will own the full lifecycle of these integrations, working closely with healthcare partners, product leaders, engineers, and AI/ML teams. You’ll translate partner requirements and workflows into reliable, scalable integrations while solving the unique challenges that come with integrating with Epic across different healthcare organizations. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data, integration engineering, AI/ML, and partner management. We’re looking for someone with deep hands-on experience integrating with Epic as a third party, who can creatively navigate integration challenges and help build scalable API integration solutions. You should also be comfortable working directly with clients to understand their workflows, drive projects toward launch, and build strong, trusted relationships. ## WHAT YOU'LL DO Build and own EPIC and other EHR integrations. - Identify APIs to read/write data to EPIC based on product needs. - Architect integrations with EPIC based on the healthcare partner’s unique setup. - Create an overarching framework to unify these integrations to work with our products. - Enable scaling of this integration infrastructure to work across all healthcare partners. Build relationships with partners - Work with partner healthcare providers to understand their system to build integrations with them - Drive the integration effort - Create a relationship to maintain integrations long term. ## WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required - 5+ years of Software engineering experience. - Experience working with EPIC integrations is a must. - Experience working closely with partners in iterative fashion gathering feedback along the way. - Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking. - Experience working with ambiguous problems and defining solutions from first principles. - Experience turning novel techniques into testable prototypes. ## Nice to Have - Experience working on products that deal with reading referrals and patient data from EPIC. - Experience with medical AI systems. - Experience with extraction of text/data from PDFs and Images. Example Things you’ve Done - Built extensible 3rd party integrations with EPIC for medical data across multiple partners. - Worked extensively with FHIR and HL7 interfaces. - Integrated with other EHR systems. ## About Sage Care Inc ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Sage Care builds an AI-powered care navigation platform that helps health systems triage, schedule, and connect patients to the right care more efficiently. - **Entity Type**: Private (venture-backed, early-stage) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, CA (likely – not explicitly stated; team background suggests Bay Area) - **Founded**: Not publicly available - **Founders**: Justin Ho (CEO), Dr. Caesar Djavaherian (Chief Medical Officer), Chris Blumenberg (CTO) — repeat entrepreneurs with prior exits from Carbon Health, rideOS, and Uber ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Healthcare technology (care navigation, patient access, clinical operations) - **Target customers**: Health systems, hospitals, and provider organizations (B2B) - **Mission or purpose**: “Make healthcare more efficient and scalable” by eliminating operational inefficiencies that frustrate patients and providers, and ensuring patients get the right care at the right time ([sage.care/about-us](https://www.sage.care/about-us)) ## Products & Services - **Sage (Care Navigation OS)**: An AI-powered platform that orchestrates patient calls, triage, and scheduling. Expanding platform capabilities and deepening integrations with existing health system workflows. - **Direction for growth**: Continuing to invest in AI that “eases staff workload” and “gets patients to the right care faster,” with an emphasis on evidence, safety, and transparency. ## Why Work Here - **Culture highlights**: Described as “a culture of innovation and impact” where employees tackle “complex, meaningful problems with real healthcare impact.” Values include collaboration over individual credit, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to improving healthcare. - **Remote/hybrid/office policy**: Not explicitly stated; job postings (via Ashby) and language like “We’re looking for people who care deeply” suggest a remote-friendly or hybrid environment typical of early-stage tech. - **Notable perks**: “Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits” are called out on the careers page. Team includes former engineers from Apple, Uber, and Carbon Health, offering a steep learning curve in AI and healthcare. - **Engineering culture**: Emphasis on building “systems that are clinically grounded” and “shaped by user feedback” – a blend of technical rigor and real-world impact. ## Sources 1.
