Robots, drones, and self-driving cars all run on physical data: multimodal, multi-rate sensor streams tied to time, space, and embodiment. Data infrastructure built for web and business data breaks down under that load. Rerun's open source SDK has become a default way robotics teams visualize, log, and query this kind of data. On top of that open source foundation, Rerun is now building Rerun Hub, a commercial data catalog and storage engine, currently in private preview, that extends the same tools to the scale of object storage. The strategy mirrors the open source to commercial platform playbook of Confluent, MongoDB, and Elastic, except Rerun is building the category as well as the company. Some of the most ambitious teams building physical AI already build on Rerun's open source tools, including teams at Meta, Google, Hugging Face, and Unitree. ## THE ROLE Physical AI is being built by a community of robotics engineers, ML researchers, and builders scattered across a handful of hubs and a lot of Discord servers and meetups. That community doesn't have a heartbeat yet, and that's this role. You'll bring creative thinking to where and how this community shows up: which cities and labs are actually building physical AI, what kind of events and programs get them in a room together, and how to give this community real content and social touch points, not just another meetup series. It's part field marketing, part developer evangelism, built for someone who wants to design and run that program rather than inherit one. ## WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON - Map the physical AI landscape: the cities, labs, companies, and communities where the people building this space actually are. - Design and run developer events, physical and virtual, from small meet ups and hack nights to a presence at larger industry conferences. - Build recurring programs that give the community real content and social touch points, not one-off events that go nowhere. - Partner with engineering and the founding team on the technical content that makes these events worth showing up to. - Represent Rerun in the robotics and physical AI community, at conferences, meet ups, and with key open source contributors. - Coordinate closely with the founding team in Sweden to start, then partner with Rerun's VP of Marketing in SF once that role is filled. ## WE'D LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE - 3-7 years in field or community marketing, with real depth in event planning, physical and virtual. - Experience marketing to or building community for a technical audience at a B2B tech startup. - You've personally organised meet ups, hackathons, workshops, dinners, or conferences; not just supported someone else running them. - You've built something recurring, a series or a programme, rather than only one-off events. - Experience working closely with founders or engineering teams, and ideally with developer or open source communities. - Real hospitality instincts and taste. You notice when an event is curated and when it isn't. - Comfortable travelling up to 40% of the time. - Genuine curiosity about robotics and physical AI. ## HOW WE WORK AT RERUN - This role is based in the Bay Area, hybrid, with 3 days a week in our SF office. - We're a remote company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with a growing hub in San Francisco. - We meet up in person for a week roughly once a quarter. - We're spread across European and US time zones. Rather than one fixed window, each team keeps a few hours of daily overlap that fits where its members are, and every role posting says what that looks like. - We've put together an uncommonly talented tech team, value agency and helpfulness highly, and expect everyone to take broad responsibility for what they build. - We offer competitive cash and equity compensation, six weeks paid vacation, and whatever hardware and software you need to do your job. - Parental leave: 12 weeks full pay for every parent, alongside your local statutory leave entitlements. ## About Rerun ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Rerun builds the unified data layer for Physical AI, providing an open-source SDK, time-series database, and visualizer for multi-rate, multimodal data used in robotics, spatial computing, and simulation. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage) - **Headquarters**: Stockholm, Sweden - **Founded**: 2022 - **Founders**: Nikolaus West (CEO), Emil Ernerfeldt (CTO), Moritz Schiebold (COO) ## Core Business - **Primary Industry**: Software Development / Data Infrastructure for Physical AI (robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, spatial computing) - **Target Customers**: B2B — engineering teams at companies building Physical AI (robotics, autonomous systems, simulation) and researchers in embodied AI - **Mission/Purpose**: To build the multimodal data stack for embodied AI, enabling teams to ingest, visualize, query, transform, and train on multi-rate, multimodal data from teleop, fleet logs, human-data rigs, and simulation — all from a single columnar store. ## Products & Services - **Rerun SDK (Open Source)**: A logging SDK (Python, Rust, C++) for multi-rate, multimodal data. Logs are stored as column-chunks in `.rrd` files, purpose-built for physical data. Enables real-time visualization and debugging. - **Rerun Viewer**: A cross-platform visualizer for exploring, annotating, and debugging temporal and multimodal data. Supports custom views and plugins for every stage of the pipeline. - **Rerun Hub (Commercial)**: A managed data catalog and storage engine. Provides byte-range indexing, SQL/dataframe querying across recordings, column-aware and video-codec-aware dataloading for training, and transform capabilities (add derived columns, evolve schemas without history-breaking). Turns object stores into a queryable, streamable foundation. - **Rerun Query Engine**: Full dataframe or SQL queries over any robotics data, including post-processing and annotation capabilities. ## Market Standing - **Valuation**: Not publicly disclosed - **Total Funding**: $20.4M - Pre-Seed (June 2022): $3.4M from 17 investors - Seed (March 2025): $17M led by Point Nine, with participation from 9 other investors - **Key Metric**: $20.4M total funding - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Point Nine (lead investor in Seed round), Costanoa Ventures, and 17+ other angel and institutional investors from the Pre-Seed round. - **Growth Signals**: - 52% employee headcount growth year-over-year (31 employees as of mid-2025, up from ~5 in 2022) - 20,020 LinkedIn followers (+39.4% yearly growth) - Operating in 14 countries across Europe and North America - Open source project with active community contributions; stewards of open source tools the industry relies on - Commercial product (Rerun Hub) launched in 2025, now in active use by teams building Physical AI ## Competitive Advantages - **Unified Data Layer**: Combines logging, visualization, querying, transformation, and training into one columnar store — eliminating the need for export jobs, stale copies, or multiple disparate tools. - **Purpose-Built for Physical AI**: Designed from the ground up for multi-rate, multimodal data (e.g., camera feeds, LiDAR, IMU, control signals) — not a bolt-on for a general-purpose database. - **Open Source Core**: The SDK and Viewer are open source (MIT/Apache), fostering community adoption, trust, and contributions from the robotics and AI research communities. - **SQL/Dataframe Querying on Recordings**: Allows users to run complex queries across the entire catalog, down to individual time ranges and values inside recordings — a unique capability for physical data. - **Column-Chunk Storage**: Efficient for multi-rate data, enabling fast retrieval and streaming without full-file downloads. ## Strategic Focus - **Scaling Rerun Hub**: Commercializing the managed data catalog and storage engine to serve enterprise Physical AI teams. - **Building the Data Loop**: Enabling seamless data flow from teleop/fleet logs through visualization, curation, and directly into training loops — "train without an export step." - **Open Source Community Growth**: Continuing to invest in the open source ecosystem, contributing to and maintaining tools the robotics community depends on. - **Talent Acquisition**: Actively hiring across engineering (Rust backend, infrastructure, dataframe SDK), forward-deployed engineering, and strategic operations to support product and customer growth. ## Why Work Here - **Mission-Driven Impact**: Build the foundational data infrastructure that will power the next generation of Physical AI — robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, and spatial computing. - **Remote-First & Distributed**: Remote-first company with founders based in Stockholm, Sweden, and teammates across Europe, the US East and West Coasts, and Canada.
