The ideal candidate will assist with various duties such as answering phones, filing, transcribing dictation, and running errands throughout the Opera House. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in opera, arts administration, and non-profit entertainment to learn how the Met runs on a day-to-day basis. This individual must be able to work flexible hours, which includes evenings and both Saturdays and Sundays during the season. This is a part-time paid internship, with a minimum of 25 hours a week in the office at $17/hour. Primary Responsibilities - Provide phone coverage for the General Manager and other staff as needed. - Fax, copy, and prepare documents for distribution, mailing or delivery by messenger. - Prepare reports as requested by the Senior Executive Assistant and the General Manager. - Transcribe dictation. - Provide coverage to the General Manager when Senior Executive Assistant is out of the office. - Perform other duties as required by the Sr. Executive Assistant. - Order and maintain general office supplies. - Retrieve packages from Stage Door or Front of House. - Expedite customer complaints. Forward or respond as needed. - Greet and escort visitors from Stage Door or Front of the House.  Offer hospitality services to General Manager’s guests as needed. - Assist Sr. Executive Assistant with tasks and ensure all functions are covered. ## Skills and Qualifications - Prior Administrative Assistant experience. - Knowledge of opera and/or experience in a non-profit environment. - Completion of a Bachelor’s degree; working towards a Master’s degree. - Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills. - Excellent project management skills and able to prioritize multiple projects. - Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Physical Demands - Must have neat and legible handwriting. - Must be able to work evenings and weekend shifts.  Must be flexible to accommodate last-minute changes in schedule. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Ability to type at a moderate speed. - Ability to take dictation. - Ability to work occasional after-hour events. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
