If your skillset is aligned with what we’re looking for, the team will reach out to schedule your interview and tell you a bit more about us (e.g. who we are). ## Role The Facilities Engineering Specialist is a hands-on technical member of the team responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the MEP systems that support our R&D, clean room, dry room, and industrialization environments. This role is focused on hands-on technical troubleshooting and facility reliability, with responsibility for understanding how building infrastructure interfaces with specialized battery and laboratory equipment. We are looking for a strong facilities/MEP professional who can diagnose problems, read schematics, work directly on systems, and determine when specialized vendor support is required. ## Key Responsibilities - Perform daily rounds and readings and routine preventive maintenance. - Monitor Building Management system alerts, alarms, and trend data and respond to out of control or abnormal events. - Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, electrical distribution, controls, pumps, vacuum, compressed air, exhaust, and other MEP systems. - Perform hands-on diagnostics, testing, inspections, adjustments, and minor repairs within applicable qualifications. - Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, controls documentation, and equipment manuals. - Systematically diagnose problems and determine whether the cause is within the building, utility infrastructure, equipment, controls, or the interface between them. - Evaluate facility capacity and utility requirements for incoming specialized lab equipment, including electrical, HVAC, exhaust, vacuum, compressed air, gases, water, and drainage. - Evaluate panels, circuits, and available electrical capacity and identify infrastructure modifications required to support new equipment. - Write preventive and corrective maintenance procedures. - Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting. - Support operation of clean room and dry room environments, including understanding of ISO classification, differential pressure, temperature, humidity, dew point, airflow, and environmental controls. - Determine when specialized vendor support is required and provide vendors with clear diagnostic findings and technical history. - Work with systems integrators to connect critical facility infrastructure and monitoring points to the BMS and establish appropriate alert and alarm parameters. - Complete maintenance service requests and perform a variety of general and specialized facilities maintenance tasks. - Support facility upgrades, preventive maintenance, reliability improvements, and day-to-day technical operations. - Work directly with Engineering equipment owners, Contractors, and service providers to resolve technical issues. ## Qualifications - 6+ years of hands-on experience in facilities engineering, industrial maintenance, laboratory facilities, manufacturing, semiconductor, aerospace, or a similar technical environment. - Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. - Hands-on experience with MEP systems such as HVAC, electrical distribution, controls, pumps, motors, compressed air, vacuum, exhaust. - Working knowledge of building management systems and facility monitoring/trend data. - Experience with fire life safety systems including; fire and smoke detection, gas detection, and fire suppression systems. - Ability to read and interpret schematics, one-lines, P&IDs, drawings, and equipment documentation. - Experience working in clean rooms, controlled environments, and/or dry rooms, with an understanding of ISO classification, differential pressure, humidity, and dew point. - Strong mechanical aptitude and a methodical approach to troubleshooting. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Comfortable working hands-on in an R&D, laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environment. - Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical findings to Facilities, Engineering, vendors, and contractors. - Technical degree, trade certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred. ## Preferred Experience - Battery, semiconductor, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex environments. - Equipment installation, startup, commissioning, or utility integration. - Electrical capacity planning for new equipment. - CMMS and preventive maintenance programs.
