Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour. We're a growing team of engineers, operators and technicians from diverse backgrounds, including consumer tech, finance and media, and companies like Dyson, Shopify, Meta and Tesla. It's still the early days of building the company, and this is a chance to make an outsized impact on a problem that matters. From day one, you'll be working with an experienced founding team, backed by a $32M Series B led by Khosla Ventures and Plural, alongside other renowned investors. Monumental is based in the city centre of Amsterdam, in a beautiful facility with a fully equipped workshop and robot testing floor. We build the whole stack in-house, hardware and software. Our work involves building robots in our workshop and houses on real construction sites, so we're onsite five days a week. Read more on why we believe you should spend your time working on construction, and learn about [our vision](https://www.monumental.co/our-vision/) and [company](https://www.monumental.co/about/). You’ll own the end-of-month (EOM) close across multiple countries, entities and currencies, working closely with our finance and operations teams. Alongside closing, you’ll handle invoice processing and financial administration. This role is open to junior candidates starting their careers as well as people with 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance operations at a startup. You enjoy working with numbers and want to understand how a company runs. You don’t need a background in robotics or construction. Curiosity, care with details and a willingness to ask questions matter. Your work will help suppliers get paid on time, colleagues make informed decisions and the company keep financial records it can trust. Some tasks are repetitive and require patience. You’ll also help improve the processes behind them, so recurring problems get fixed. Finance operations will be your main focus, alongside occasional projects such as researching a supplier, preparing an analysis or helping set up a new process. As you learn the business, you’ll take on greater responsibility and more complex work. ## What you'll do - Process supplier invoices. Check invoices against orders and supporting documents, assign the right categories, resolve discrepancies and gather approvals so payments can be made on time. - Own the end-of-month close. Take responsibility for an accurate, timely close across multiple countries, entities and currencies. Reconcile accounts and intercompany balances, check that invoices and expenses are recorded in the right period, account for currency differences and resolve outstanding items with the finance team. - Keep financial records organised. Maintain supplier details, receipts and expense records. Help prepare customer invoices, track payments and answer questions from colleagues and suppliers. - Improve how we work. Spot recurring errors, document processes and use software and AI to reduce manual work, checking the results carefully. - Contribute to broader projects. Help the operations team with research, analysis and process improvements as priorities arise, while keeping finance operations as your core responsibility. ## What we're looking for - An interest in finance and business. You might be a junior candidate looking to build a strong foundation in financial operations, or bring 1–3 years of accounting or finance ops experience at a startup. We’ll tailor onboarding and support to your experience, with ownership of the monthly close as a core responsibility. - Care with numbers. You can work through an invoice or spreadsheet, notice when something doesn’t add up and investigate it. - Organisation and follow-through. You track deadlines, follow up on missing information and flag when priorities conflict. - Clear communication. You’re comfortable asking questions, working with colleagues and suppliers, and raising problems early. - Comfort with spreadsheets and a willingness to learn new systems. You’re interested in finding better ways to do recurring work. - Good judgement with confidential information. You handle financial and company information carefully. - Nice to have: experience with bookkeeping, accounting software or month-end closing is helpful, but not required. You don’t need to have done every task listed here before applying. ## What you’ll gain You’ll learn how financial operations connect to a business that designs, manufactures and deploys its own robots. Working closely with the finance and operations teams, you’ll build experience across the monthly finance cycle and develop your ability to investigate discrepancies, improve processes and take responsibility for more complex work. The system is vertically integrated – Monumental designs its own hardware, control software, and machine vision pipeline. Robots are treated as a distributed computing system, using Intel NUCs, Nvidia GPUs, RP2040s, and Power over Ethernet instead of traditional industrial PLCs or CAN bus. ## Market Standing - **Valuation / Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding raised – **$25M** (date not specified, but recent) - **Notable Investors**: Plural, Hummingbird, Northzone, Foundamental, NP-Hard - **Growth Signals**: - Robots are already deployed on real construction sites in the Netherlands for paying customers. - Team size ~70 people (20 R&D, 30 deployment, 10 workshop, 10 operations/BD/founders). Split indicates scaling deployment operations. - Expanding into the UK market (posting for a Founding Robot Operator, UK). ## Competitive Advantages - **Vertical integration**: Full ownership of the stack from microcontroller code to robot assembly and control, enabling rapid, weekly iterations on both hardware and software. - **Modern tech stack**: Control software in Rust, simulation and digital twin in TypeScript with Rust compiled to WebAssembly, machine learning in Python. This contrasts with the industry’s typical PLC/CAN‑bus approach. - **Rapid prototyping culture**: Hardware is prototyped in-house (CNC, 3D printing, turning), allowing fast derisking and iteration. - **Product‑outcome focus**: The team measures success in finished walls and building components, not just robot uptime. ## Strategic Focus - **Incremental, achievable goals** in a traditionally change-resistant industry: start with small wins (facades, retaining walls) and scale. - **Expand geographic footprint** (UK already targeted) and increase the number of robot operators and deployment teams. - **Continue to iterate on hardware/software weekly** while maintaining a pragmatic, outcome‑oriented engineering culture. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Office‑first, 5 days a week in the Amsterdam city‑center office (hybrid/remote not supported). The environment is fast‑paced, high‑ambiguity, and highly collaborative. - **Engineering**: Work on a vertically integrated stack – Rust, TypeScript, WebAssembly, Python, embedded C, hardware design – with weekly shipping cycles. Engineers have outsized impact, owning projects end‑to‑end. - **Team**: ~70 people from diverse backgrounds (Palantir, Tesla, Qualcomm, Dyson, Meta, Shopify). Many are repeat founders; previous robotics experience is not required – learning fast is valued. - **Perks**: Competitive salary + generous equity; beautiful office opposite Artis zoo with in‑house workshop and robot testing facility; visa sponsorship and relocation assistance for highly skilled migrants. - **Impact**: Build physical products that affect the built environment, with the mission of making affordable, beautiful housing a reality. ## Sources 1.
