We go far beyond traditional payment processing. Breeze combines global payments, AI, stablecoins, and a Merchant of Record-like model to take on the complexity businesses typically manage themselves, including compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support. Our goal is simple: let businesses focus on building and selling great products while Breeze handles the complexity behind getting paid. Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, Breeze is a successful, rapidly growing, and exceptionally well-capitalized company. We have the runway to think long term while remaining early enough that every person joining today can have a meaningful impact on what we build. ## Overview Every merchant Breeze takes on creates an opportunity to grow and real financial exposure to manage. We’re hiring a Underwriter to own the decisions behind that growth: which merchants we support, on what terms, and how we protect Breeze from chargebacks, refunds, fraud, and merchant failure. You’ll own underwriting from application through ongoing monitoring, combining corporate credit analysis with sharp financial judgment to make high-impact decisions. This is a hands-on builder role with the autonomy to create the policies, scorecards, and processes that will shape how Breeze manages risk and scales globally. ## What You'll Do - Underwrite new merchant applications: analyze financials, funding, runway/burn/unit economics; assess the business model's liability tail; make approve/decline/conditional decisions with a documented rationale - Set reserves, holdbacks, volume caps and exposure limits - Run portfolio re-reviews, adjust terms as merchant risk changes, maintain a watchlist/escalation path, track realized losses back into the framework - Build and maintain underwriting policy, scorecard, and exposure reporting to a standard that satisfies a bank/auditor - Use AI/data tooling to speed up file review and decisioning - Partner with Sales, Treasury Ops, Risk/Compliance, and support bank/acquirer diligence ## What We're Looking For - 3+ years of experience in corporate debt analysis and underwriting — venture debt, growth lending, revenue-based finance, private credit, commercial banking, or a startup lending book - That experience should include underwriting startups and privately held companies. You should be comfortable forming a view from incomplete, unaudited, fast-moving financials if needed. - Demonstrated ownership of a credit decision: you have written the memo, taken a position, and defended it to a committee or a decision-maker - Fluency with financial statements, cash flow analysis, runway, burn and unit economics - Advanced Excel (comfort building models and working with large transaction-level datasets) and some degree of experience in AI enablement of finance and analysis workflows ## Nice to Have - Payments/fintech/marketplace/MoR exposure; chargeback/refund/settlement risk - Rolling reserves, holdbacks, chargeback ratios, card scheme monitoring - Experience building/improving an underwriting policy or scorecard - BigQuery or similar - Digital goods, gaming, creator economy, subscription, or prediction markets Our Compensation Philosophy! The annual base salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000 in New York. This range represents the minimum and maximum annual base salary that Breeze, in good faith, expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications. For candidates outside of New York, compensation will be based on the applicable market and location-based pay range. The base salary range listed excludes commission (if applicable), equity, and benefits. ## Benefits & Perks - Health coverage: Breeze covers 100% of employee premiums on our competitive base plan and 75% of dependent premiums. - PTO: 21 days, plus applicable company holidays. - 401(k): Breeze covers all plan administration fees. - Equity: Meaningful ownership in the company you're helping build. - Equipment: A new MacBook Air and whatever else you need to do your best work. - Office & education allowance: An annual budget for your workspace, tools, and professional development. - Wellness: A monthly reimbursement to support your well-being. - Annual global offsite: We bring the global Breeze team together every year. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion or creed, national origin, ancestry, citizenship or immigration status, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, marital or partnership status, caregiver status, disability, genetic information, military or veteran status, height or weight, sexual and reproductive health decisions, status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual violence, or stalking, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Employees based in our Singapore office are expected to work on-site five days per week. In-office expectations may vary slightly depending on role, team, and business needs. Certain roles that require closer cross-functional collaboration or operational support may have additional requirements, which will be discussed during the interview process. Our approach is designed to support meaningful in-person collaboration, team building, and real-time decision-making while providing flexibility where applicable. We believe this structure enables strong execution, close collaboration, and effective teamwork across our global offices. Come Build With Us! We offer a rare combination: the ownership and speed of an early-stage company with the traction, backing, and financial foundations of a successful business. We're building at the convergence of AI, payments, stablecoins, financial infrastructure, and global commerce. The opportunity is much bigger than building another payment processor. We're building the intelligent infrastructure layer for global commerce, and there's still an enormous amount left to build. If you want meaningful ownership, hard problems, exceptional teammates, and the opportunity to help define what comes next, we'd love to hear from you! ## About Breeze ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Breeze provides an all-in-one global payment infrastructure platform that unifies fiat and cryptocurrency payments for modern businesses. - **Entity Type**: Private (funding stage not disclosed; backed by investors and operators from Stripe, Meta, and others) - **Headquarters**: New York, United States - **Founded**: 2022 - **Founders**: Millie Yang (CEO) and Peng Du (CTO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Financial Services – payments infrastructure - **Target customers**: B2B – gaming companies, creators, contractors, and enterprise businesses that need global pay-ins and payouts - **Mission**: "Simplify payments infrastructure for modern businesses, making transactions faster, smarter, and more secure." ## Products & Services - **Merchant of Record (Payins & Payouts)**: Acts as the global merchant of record, handling payment processing, compliance, and settlement via a single API.
