KitCheck's hardware fleet spans multiple RFID reader models, each with device-specific firmware written in different languages and frameworks. We're looking for an engineer to take ownership of maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting, and supporting that firmware in the field. You'll be a full member of our ~10-person KitCheck engineering team, working especially closely with our three-person hardware and RFID software team — a tight-knit group where firmware sits at the center. This role is roughly 75% software, 25% hardware. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX. You can expect to - You'll spend the most hands-on time in Python and Go — the two languages our stack leans on most heavily — though prior experience in either isn't required. - Own firmware across our full fleet of RFID reader models — maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting — with each device line running its own language and framework. - Produce and maintain the support documentation and materials our Support team needs to handle day-to-day, live-device support in the field. - Take ownership of the codebase: create, review, and contribute to pull requests across a wide variety of languages and frameworks. - Contribute to and grow expertise in our RFID device-control platform, including performance-sensitive scanning code. ## What We Are Looking For - Comfortable working in unfamiliar programming languages and ramping into new stacks quickly — you'll be supporting firmware across several from day one. - Able to make progress toward a goal even when the path forward is abstract or not fully defined. - Genuinely interested in close, ongoing collaboration with product and domain experts — this is a highly collaborative role, not a solo one. - Strong communication habits: proactive updates, regular check-ins, and comfortable flagging blockers early rather than going quiet. - Early-career engineers with strong fundamentals who are excited by broad language and hardware exposure will thrive here. ## Nice to have - Experience building or supporting on-premise / on-device software. - Exposure to IoT device build/dev as a hobbyist or tinkerer. - Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, common protocols). - General Linux systems knowledge. - Familiarity with how web applications communicate (REST APIs, client-server request/response patterns). - Familiarity with our day-to-day toolset: macOS working environment, Linux development, Git/GitHub, Jira, Slack, and Docker containers Our environment Our codebase spans several languages depending on the device line, including Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, TypeScript, and Ruby. ## What you'll get from us - Opportunities to solve problems of scale, debt and security to redefine what’s possible in medication intelligence - Room to be creative and choose your own path - Trust in your sense of ownership - Dedicated budget for training and career development - Coworkers who you'll learn from, who will push you and who are looking to learn from you This position is open to applicants in the continental United States. Why Bluesight? Bluesight’s culture is built on innovation and teamwork. There’s room to grow and opportunities to take initiative. You will partner with sharp, motivated teammates looking to disrupt a massive industry—and have fun doing it.  We truly believe that where you work and what you do matters.  Join us as we revolutionize the hospital pharmacy landscape! -Competitive salary -Time off when you need it – unlimited vacation days! -Generous insurance coverage -401k program with a company match -Fun, collaborative culture!
