Our price indices are live on Bloomberg Terminal. We structure and trade compute hedging instruments. And we're now building a platform that brings exchange-grade mechanics like order management, matching, scheduling, and settlement to how compute capacity gets reserved and allocated. We're a lean team in New York, backed by leading venture and strategic investors. ## About the Role We're hiring a Fleet Operations Engineer to stand up, debug, and secure the systems that get GPUs into production. ## What You'll Do Build and operate low-level systems infrastructure across Linux environments, from bare metal to VMs to orchestration. Provision and manage virtualized GPU compute (KVM/QEMU, GPU passthrough) alongside Kubernetes and Slurm workloads. Write production-grade Python daily and contribute to Rust services. Secure the node fleet with network segmentation, firewalls, access control, and secure-by-default configuration. Own problems end to end in a fast-paced environment with minimal hand-holding. ## What We're Looking For ## Requirements - Strong low-level systems fundamentals, including OS internals, performance, and debugging. - Excellent in Python. - Deep familiarity with Linux environments. - Effective communicator and independent problem solver. You will interface with customers, operators, and internal teams. - A genuine interest in AI hardware: GPUs, accelerators, and the systems that feed them. Nice-to-Haves - Virtualization experience: KVM/QEMU, hypervisors, VM lifecycle management. - Network security experience: hardening exposed nodes, VPNs and zero-trust access, firewalls, locking down cluster access. ## Why This Role Matters At this stage, technical product quality and company credibility are tightly linked. The systems you build will shape how users experience the company and how fast the organization can operate. ## Compensation and Benefits Benefits include competitive salary, meaningful equity, health coverage, free meals, and additional benefits. This is a leadership role with significant strategic impact and equity upside. ## Equal Opportunity Statement Ornn is committed to building a diverse team. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work, not on pedigree or background. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. ## About ornn.com ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Ornn builds the financial layer for AI infrastructure — a regulated platform for pricing, trading, and hedging GPU compute. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage) - **Headquarters**: New York City, United States - **Founded**: 2025 - **Founders**: Kush Bavaria (CEO), Wayne Nelms (CTO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Financial Services / AI Infrastructure - **Target customers**: Institutional investors, compute buyers and sellers, hyperscalers, AI labs, and capital providers (B2B, Enterprise) - **Mission or purpose**: Turn AI’s core inputs (compute and data) into markets that can be priced, financed, and hedged. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) ## Products & Services - **Ornn Compute Price Index (OCPI)**: A transaction-based reference price for GPU compute across hardware types (H100, H200, B200, B300) — used for pricing, hedging, and settlement. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) - **Market Intelligence**: Pricing, volatility, supply, and demand data for the compute economy. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) - **Capacity Finance**: Infrastructure that makes GPU capacity easier to underwrite and scale. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) - **Compute Access**: Direct capacity for training, inference, and infrastructure-scale workloads. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) - **Futures & Derivatives** (in partnership with ICE): GPU compute futures contracts based on OCPI, enabling risk management for compute. [linkedin.com](https://linkedin.com/company/ornn) ## Market Standing - **Valuation / Market Cap**: Not publicly available - **Key Metric**: Total funding – $5.7M (Seed round, 2025-11-28) - **Notable Investors / Partners**: Vine Ventures, Crucible Capital; Partnership with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). [linkedin.com](https://linkedin.com/company/ornn), [linkedin.com](https://linkedin.com/company/ornn) - **Growth Signals**: 7.1% monthly employee growth (12 employees currently); partnership with ICE to launch first GPU compute futures; SEC-registered (CIK 0002133586). [linkedin.com](https://linkedin.com/company/ornn) ## Competitive Advantages - **Transaction-based, not survey-based**: OCPI is built on real trades, not scraped offers or estimates — giving it market credibility. - **Regulated and compliant**: Full KYC/AML architecture, SEC-registered entity — unusual for a compute marketplace. - **First-mover in compute derivatives**: Only platform combining physical compute access, index pricing, and risk-transfer products in one integrated infrastructure. [ornn.com](https://ornn.com/) ## Strategic Focus - Scale the OCPI as the industry benchmark for compute pricing. - Expand derivative offerings (futures, options) on regulated exchanges (ICE). - Grow capacity finance products to unlock institutional capital for AI infrastructure buildout. [linkedin.com](https://linkedin.com/company/ornn) ## Why Work Here - Early-stage fintech tackling a new asset class (compute as a commodity) — high ownership and impact. - In-office culture in New York City; roles include Engineering, GTM, Product, and Operations. [jobs.gem.com](https://jobs.gem.com/ornn) - Team includes alumni from Susquehanna, Citadel, Optiver, BCG — a blend of finance and engineering talent. - Building regulated market infrastructure for AI, a fast-growing sector with clear institutional demand. ## Sources 1.
