By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come. This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched. Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission — operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you. At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started. ## Role Overview Harvey's Finance Engineering team is the investment-side counterpart to our Legal Engineering team: former investment professionals who bring real deal experience to Harvey's prospects and customers. Forward Deployed Finance Engineers lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds alongside our AEs and CSMs. They translate real investment work into Harvey solutions, serving as the trust layer across the entire customer lifecycle, from the first pilot to the most complex, custom-built workflow. Finance Engineers work on Harvey Deals, a new product built off of Harvey's acquisition of Benchmark. Harvey Deals is where investment teams run their deals — screening, underwriting, diligence, and committee materials — built in the firm's own templates and formats, with every figure traceable back to the document it came from. Harvey works with 150+ asset management firms and analyzes 178M+ documents each month; the Finance Engineering team is how that capability meets the way deal teams actually work. Finance Engineers understand how investors think and work, and use that expertise to design, build, and refine solutions that hold up under live deal pressure. In doing so, they don't just drive adoption; they shape Harvey's product roadmap, ensuring every release is grounded in what investment teams actually need. It's a team built to make Harvey the platform investment teams can trust with their most important work. This role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to buyout. You will build the buyout playbook — demo library, workflow templates, use cases — while running live pilots, and lead the buyout practice as the team grows. You may be asked to travel around 2–3+ times per month. Travel is always for a significant business need and typically is for 1–3 days at a time. ## What you'll do Forward Deployed Finance Engineers on the buyout team are former deal professionals who left the investment side to help build the future of how deals get done. Working closely with Account Executives, they engage with middle-market and lower-middle-market buyout funds, sector specialists, and serial acquirers throughout the pre-sales process and stay with them well past it — leading pilots on live opportunities, guiding sponsors through what's possible with AI, and sitting down with deal teams to build screening, underwriting, diligence, and investment committee workflows in the firm's own templates and formats. The work is the work they did on the desk: CIM and management presentation review; QoE and data pack analysis; banker and operating model interrogation; LBO and returns analysis; comps; add-on screening; and investment committee materials. It continues post-close into portfolio monitoring, add-on pipeline tracking, and valuation support, so value compounds after the first deal. Along the way, Finance Engineers bring deal-team feedback back into the product, helping shape the future of Harvey. ## What you have - 3+ years on the investment team at a buyout fund — middle-market or lower-middle-market, ideally with add-on activity — or a growth-buyout or sector-specialist fund, with demonstrated ownership of live deal work: screening, underwriting, diligence workstreams, modeling, and drafting investment committee materials. Investment banking or transaction advisory experience before the buyside is welcome, but principal-side deal execution is required. - Strong command of the documents and data that drive a buyout decision — CIM and management presentation, QoE and data pack, banker and operating models, LBO, purchase agreement and financing terms — and an instinct for where the numbers and the paper disagree. - Advanced Excel and financial modeling, comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows, and a builder's instinct for turning a repeated manual process into a repeatable automation. Python, SQL, or experience building internal tools is a plus. - Executive presence and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility from analysts and associates through to partners and investment committee members. - Outstanding communication and presentation skills — comfortable leading a live demo, facilitating a workshop, or holding your own in a technical conversation about an underwriting assumption. - Deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform investment work, paired with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset and bias toward action. - Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results, with curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes. - Customer-facing or commercial experience (LP or investor relations, capital formation, banking coverage, business development) and/or hands-on experience using AI tools in an investment setting are pluses. ## Compensation - OTE $254,600 - $350,000 USD (75/25 Split) • Offers Equity Depending on your location, an Applicant Privacy Notice may apply to you.
