## Job description

Founding Software Engineer — San Francisco, CA (In office - WFH Flex)

## About us

Our partner is a seed-funded startup ($7M) building agentic AI systems that reason over large sets of unstructured data and ship real value to engineers. You’ll work directly with the CEO/CTO and get fast user feedback as you build.

## The role

Invent and build core product and systems from the ground up. Ship full-stack features end to end, make agents not just smart but trusted and usable, and help set engineering culture from day one. In person in SF three days per week.

## What you’ll do

Design and implement production agent workflows for unstructured data; own data ingestion, evaluation loops, and UX around agents.

- Build full-stack features across a React front end and Python services; iterate quickly with direct customer input.
- Establish reliability and performance baselines; instrument, observe, and improve the system as usage grows.
- Collaborate tightly with founders on product direction; create lightweight standards that scale the team.

You might be a fit if you have

- 3+ years of software experience and a product mindset; you thrive in ambiguity and love shipping.
- Expertise with React and Python; comfort moving up and down the stack.
- Solid engineering fundamentals: testing, observability, performance, data modeling.
- Work authorization in the US and availability to be in SF 3 days/week.

## Nice to have

- Hands-on with LLMs/agents (prompting, tools, retrieval), vector search, and safety/guardrails.
- Experience turning messy data into reliable product features.

Location and setup San Francisco, hybrid-in-office (3 days/week).
