Created by parents for parents, Nex combines technology and play to deliver fun, social, and interactive experiences powered by natural body motion, encouraging kids and adults to move more, play more, and have fun together. Nex Playground, the company’s award-winning active play system, is purpose-built to get families moving year-round, with safety and privacy as core considerations in its intentional design. It is certified kidSAFE+ COPPA compliant and built to support healthy, active play for all ages and abilities. Nex Playground features a growing library of 50+ experiences, including motion and dance games, fitness and educational experiences, and Nex Originals. Content includes collaborations with partners like Hasbro, Sesame Workshop, and NBCUniversal. Nex has been recognized by Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, TIME’s Best Inventions, and Parents’ Best Entertainment System for Families, and has earned Red Dot, IDEA, and Core77 international design awards. We encourage you to explore [Have Fun](https://www.playthatmovesyou.com/p/have-fun) and [Is Motion Gaming Back?](https://www.playthatmovesyou.com/p/is-motion-gaming-back), as they offer a deeper look into our culture, values, and explain how our approach to motion gaming differs from previous generations. To protect yourself from recruitment scams, please note that Nex communicates through official company emails ending in @nex.inc. If you receive a suspicious email or message, please do not respond and report it immediately to us. Location: Remote USA Annual salary: $120,000 - $150,000 USD Type: 3 month contract with potential for FTE conversion Reports to: Engineering Manager ## The Role Join a small, ambitious team where your work shapes how customers first discover and fall in love with our product. You'll be a frontend-first engineer who owns and evolves our marketing site — the CMS powering our pages, the component library keeping our UI consistent, the performance and the polish that makes every visit feel intentional. This is a role for someone who takes genuine pride in a well-maintained, well-crafted web presence; who notices when something's a pixel off, when a page loads a tad too slow, or when the content publishing workflow could be half as painful with a smarter setup. What makes this role special is the ownership and the visibility. You'll work directly with designers, marketers, and leadership — close enough to understand the why behind every build, and trusted enough to run with it. You'll be the person who keeps the lights on beautifully — iterating on the design system, improving the content publishing pipeline, and making sure our public-facing web experience is always in great shape. Your work will be live, visible, and experienced by millions of visitors. If you care deeply about frontend craft, love the intersection of design and code, and want to be the person a whole team relies on to make things look and work brilliantly — let's talk. ## What You'll Do - Own and evolve our marketing site — the CMS, the component library, the frontend architecture, and the analytics integrations that tell us how it's all performing. This is yours to steward and improve. - Collaborate with Design and Marketing to build and maintain customer-facing web experiences — landing pages, campaign builds, and commerce integrations — that are polished, performant, and on-brand. - Partner with Design, Marketing, and Publishing to keep our content publishing pipeline smooth — so the team can move fast without depending on engineering for every update. - Build and maintain lightweight integrations and tooling — connecting third-party services, CX tools, and external APIs — that make the broader team more productive. - Obsess over performance and user experience — from Core Web Vitals to CMS workflows — so that every interaction feels fast, polished, and intentional. - Develop and maintain our Web Design System and component libraries, keeping the foundation consistent and scalable as the brand and team grow. ## About You - You've built and maintained a performant, production marketing site that real teams depend on — and you know what it takes to keep it fast, stable, and easy to update. We'd love to hear about it. - You've set up or significantly evolved a CMS for a non-technical team — you've thought about content modelling, editor experience, and how to make publishing fast without breaking things. - You care about code quality and reliability — you write tests, sweat the edge cases, and don't consider something shipped until you're confident it holds up in the real world. - You've diagnosed and fixed real performance bottlenecks on a public-facing site — you know what kills LCP, how to audit a slow page, and how to make the fix stick. - You’re ready to take charge end-to-end — from scoping and building to deployment and smoke testing in production. - You've worked closely with non-engineering teams before — marketers, designers, stakeholders — and you know how to translate between creative vision and technical reality. - You have a DIY mindset and genuine obsession with code quality, user experience, and craft — always asking how things could be better, and doing something about it. - You embrace AI-assisted tools like Claude Code — and you know when to trust them and when to push back. - You are proficient in TypeScript and have experience in a modern full-stack JS frameworks (we use SvelteKit, but Next.js or similar is great!) — bonus points if you've already shipped something in Svelte. Bonus If You - Have a good eye for design and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback in design tools like Figma — you don't just implement designs, you help make them better. - Have worked with Sanity CMS — it's what we use day-to-day, and hitting the ground running here would be a genuine advantage. - Have experience with international localization tools and architecture — big plus given where we're headed. - Have implemented privacy compliance (e.g. GDPR) and managed cookie consent flows. - Have maintained software libraries or written technical documentation others actually want to read. #LI-remote ## We Offer - Competitive compensation package. - Flexible working hours and vacation policy. - Product-driven culture that treasures talents and individual growth. - Front-row seat and hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies in the evolving gaming field Nex is located in San Jose, California, USA and Hong Kong.
