Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society. Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all. ========================================================================= ## TEAM Toyota is redefining mobility. We continue to challenge conventional ideas of mobility by enabling the movement of people, goods, information, and energy. Woven City serves as a test course where a wide range of mobility solutions can be created and tested, with the vision of building a human-centered city, a city of experimentation, and an ever-evolving city — all in pursuit of “Mobility for All” and the mass production of happiness. We aim to contribute to people’s well-being by expanding the possibilities of mobility. In an era where shortages of drivers, energy, and other critical resources are expected to become increasingly significant, we believe mobility can play an even greater role by becoming more advanced, versatile, and efficient. The Mobility City Development team develops a mobility ecosystem in which not only advanced products demonstrated in Woven City — such as autonomous driving, eVTOL, and micromobility — but also Toyota’s broader range of mobility solutions are connected and complement one another to create value for society. We also develop the platforms that enable this ecosystem. Our mission is to deploy these platforms in real-world environments and grow them into sustainable and scalable businesses. Working not only with mobility operators but also with municipalities and Toyota Group partners, we combine software, mobility, and urban development to create new services that improve both how people move and the value of cities. We are currently developing a product that integrates a MaaS system supporting the delivery and operation of mobility services with an end-user application. Looking ahead, we plan to expand the product’s capabilities through integration with other services, systems, and urban infrastructure. This role is not simply about building a digital product — it is about using that product to transform real-world mobility experiences in cities. We place strong emphasis on Genchi Genbutsu — going to the source and learning directly from the real environment. We work closely with users and operators in the communities where our services are deployed, and translate those insights into products that create measurable value in collaboration with our Business, Design, and Engineering teams. For more information about Woven City, please visit: https://www.woven-city.global/ WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for a Frontend Engineer who can independently drive the design, implementation, testing, and continuous improvement of the frontend for a MaaS product currently in the development and validation stage. You will create intuitive, accessible experiences by understanding the needs, workflows, and environments of both mobility service users and those who provide and operate the services. You should have development experience with technologies such as React and TypeScript, with the ability to design and implement reusable UI components, integrate APIs, and manage UI state. We value the ability to choose appropriate implementation approaches that balance rapid development during validation with maintainability, future feature expansion, and integration with other services. Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and Business teams, you will translate ambiguous requirements and operational challenges into concrete interfaces, interactions, and functionality. We expect you to propose improvements while communicating technical feasibility and constraints, and to enhance usability, accessibility, rendering performance, and error handling through testing and code reviews. We are looking for someone who embraces Genchi Genbutsu—going to the source and learning directly from actual service use and operations—and translates user feedback and usage data into continuous improvement. We value people who bring frontend expertise while taking an interest in adjacent areas, respect their teammates, and proactively solve problems. We also expect you to use emerging technologies, including generative AI, to improve development speed and quality while taking responsibility for verifying the quality of your work. ## RESPONSIBILITIES - Work with partners and Toyota related MaaS services to develop frontend software and UI/UX specifications for the Mobility Service Controller - Work with software engineers to define functions specifications, interfaces etc. - Create and document reusable UI components using React and Typescript - Rigorously test UI components for defects and identify edge cases when working inside of the larger design system - Perform software document, code and test reports reviews - Build and promote a process continuously to improve specification documents and code - Collaborative, inclusive and respectful of each team member ## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of experience working in front end using modern js libraries/frameworks, specifically React and Typescript - 3+ years of experience working with essential front end languages like HTML, CSS/SASS/CSS-in-JS, and vanilla JavaScript - Experience working with modern development tools and cloud infrastructure (containerization, CI/CD, AWS, etc.) - Experience in software verification and validation of UI applications - Experience in software architecture design of web applications - Business-level Japanese language skills, conversational English or above and work experience at a Japanese company ## NICE TO HAVES - Experience in Business/System developing related to mobility services - Both agile and waterfall development experiences - Experience in full stack development (server side and frontend) - Experience with graphic design applications such as Figma and Sketch - Experience in commitment to open source software ========================================================================= Important Points ・All interviews will be arranged via Google Meet, unless otherwise stated. ・The same job descriptions are available in both English and Japanese; therefore, we kindly ask that you apply to only one version. ・We kindly request that you submit your resume in English, if possible.
