We solve real-world problems with real hardware. We move fast, take ownership, and hold a high bar for execution. We value people who are low ego and team-first, calm under pressure, direct and respectful communicators, willing to roll up their sleeves, and focused on solutions, not drama. We operate with high integrity. We do what we say we’ll do, we’re transparent about risks and tradeoffs, and we build trust through consistent follow-through. The work is hands-on. Sometimes messy. Often fast. Always meaningful. Founded in 2021, Range is led by experienced EV operators from Tesla, Zoox, Honda, and other leading OEMs. We are backed by strong investors and focused on building hardware that fleets will actually use. If you like building real things, solving hard problems, and working with low drama, high output teammates, you will fit here. ## Role Summary As the Full Stack SW Engineer, you will build the digital backbone of our electrification platform. You’ll develop user-facing applications and backend systems that power fleet insights, vehicle monitoring, and operational intelligence. This role sits at the intersection of vehicles, hardware, and cloud software. You’ll work closely with firmware, systems, and hardware teams to turn real-world vehicle data into intuitive tools and scalable services.. ## Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain end-to-end software systems—from frontend interfaces to backend services and APIs - Develop dashboards and tools for fleet operators to monitor vehicle performance, energy usage, and system health - Build scalable backend services to ingest, process, and store telemetry data from connected vehicles - Collaborate with firmware and embedded teams to integrate vehicle and hardware data into cloud platforms - Implement data pipelines and analytics features to support decision-making and optimization - Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability across the stack - Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical strategy - Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in a fast-paced environment What Success Looks Like (first 6–12 months) - Establish and manage a configuration database for tracking and servicing deployed production units. - Build and deploy scalable infrastructure for long-term data storage and tracking from deployed systems. - Develop end-to-end (frontend and backend) testing infrastructure for factory and commissioning data. - Create comprehensive tooling (frontend and backend) to support field service operations and diagnostics. - For the above projects, some of these may involve evaluating 3rd party software tools and integrating them with internal tools that you are responsible for developing Required Qualifications - 3–7+ years of experience in full stack software development - Strong proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar) - Backend experience with languages such as Python, Node.js, or Go - Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with distributed systems - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) - Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and with time-series high-resolution, high-volume data - Strong understanding of software engineering best practices (testing, version control, CI/CD), as well as familiarity with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines - Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and embedded systems teams ## Preferred / Nice-to-Haves - Experience working with IoT systems, telemetry data, or connected devices - Familiarity with vehicle data protocols (CAN, UDS, etc.) - Experience building data visualization tools or analytics platforms - Exposure to real-time data processing (Kafka, streaming systems, etc.) - Background in fleet, logistics, automotive, or energy industries Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. It installs in a few hours, works with any tractor (diesel or electric), and requires no driver retraining or new charging infrastructure. Benefits include 40%+ fuel savings, up to 70% reduction in emissions, and elimination of diesel reefer operation for refrigerated fleets. (Type: Hardware + embedded software) ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding of $31.5M (Seed $8M in Nov 2022; Series A $23.5M in Feb 2024) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Series A led by Trousdale Ventures; other investors include participants in the Seed round (3 investors in Seed, 4 in Series A) - **Growth Signals**: Headcount of 39 employees (+4.7% YoY); active hiring with 5 open positions; team built from Tesla, Zoox, Rivian, and other EV leaders; 5,622 LinkedIn followers (22.9% yearly growth) ## Competitive Advantages - **Retrofit approach** – works with any existing semi-trailer, avoiding the need for fleet replacement or new tractor purchases. - **No infrastructure dependency** – the eTrailer system does not require new charging stations, making adoption seamless for fleets. - **Immediate impact** – delivers 40%+ fuel savings and up to 70% emissions reduction, with elimination of diesel reefer for refrigerated loads. - **Proven team** – leadership and engineering talent from Tesla, Zoox, Google, and other high‑volume vehicle platforms. ## Strategic Focus - **Industrialization and scaling** – transitioning from prototype to production, building operational foundations for long‑term growth, and accelerating deployments (as highlighted by the appointment of Fei Liu, former President of Flex Asia and Motorola Mobility). - **Product expansion** – continuing to refine the eTrailer system and sensor suite while targeting broader commercial adoption. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Values-driven environment emphasizing “beyond boundaries” (cross‑disciplinary collaboration), “build like it matters” (technical precision and safety), and “one team” (mutual support and celebration of progress). - **Work policy**: Mix of on‑site and hybrid roles; headquarters in Mountain View, CA, with a secondary location in New York, NY for some legal positions. - **Engineering culture**: Hands‑on, impact‑focused team with deep EV expertise; opportunities to work on hardware, firmware, full‑stack software, and systems engineering for a product that directly reduces emissions in heavy trucking. - **Perks**: Not explicitly listed, but the company emphasizes meaningful work, technical excellence, and a collaborative atmosphere. ## Sources 1.
