Paris hybrid welcome, but not required. WHY OPAL? - Mission-Driven Impact: We are on a mission to help 1Bn people to focus better every day. We've empowered our community to save 500M+ hours and counting. - Ownership & Flexibility: Structure your work to foster creativity and productivity. - Collaborative Culture: Work with a small, high-impact team that gathers quarterly for meetups and learning. Nearly $1M in Revenue per Employee. - Growth & Recognition: Join a top-30 US productivity app with competitive compensation and early equity. 4.8/5 rating on 60k+ reviews, and past $15M in ARR. - Well-Supported: Backed by world-class investors and founders of companies like Pinterest, Snapchat, and Revolut. WHY THIS ROLE AND WHY NOW? At Opal, we're building tools to help people reclaim their time and focus on what truly matters. As we continue to grow and save millions of hours of screen time for our community, we’re looking for a Monetization Manager to accelerate growth and take ownership of B2C revenue generation. Here's why this is the perfect moment to join: - Ownership & Impact: You'll take the lead on paywall and offer experimentation, pricing and packaging, Android and Web monetization, and lifecycle recovery. Working directly with Julien (Growth Systems Lead) and closely with Product, Design and Engineering. - Your Role in Growth Systems: You'll be the dedicated monetization owner on a small, high-ownership team, stepping into a fast-growing company where your work will directly shape the future of focus, productivity, and Opal's revenue engine. Within six months, you'll own the monetization roadmap end-to-end and be running several revenue initiatives in parallel. ## WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING As our Monetization Manager, you will: 1. Own paywall and offer experimentation, end-to-end. This is where most of your week goes. You'll run the test pipeline on onboarding and in-app surfaces: pick the hypothesis, build the paywall yourself, ship it, read it on revenue per user, and call it win / kill / scale. We need someone who builds, not someone who briefs and waits. 2. Own pricing. Shape the price ladder, plan architecture, trial design, intro offers and eligibility, discounting, and geo/PPP pricing bands - owning the model behind the price, not just the price itself. 3. Grow Android and Web monetization. These are the two platforms with the clearest headroom versus iOS, and a direct unlock for future growth investment on those surfaces. 4. Build monetization surfaces inside the product itself. Feature gating, entitlements, and contextual upsell in the context of the feature itself - partnering closely with Product, Design and Engineering to design and land these. 5. Own recovery and lifecycle monetization. Trial-cancel win-back, abandoned transactions, churn recovery, and referral offers. You own the offer and its economics, CRM owns the channel. ## WHAT YOU BRING - 3 to 5 years owning monetization at a consumer subscription app. You can point to a paywall, a price, or an offer that shipped because of you. - You build it yourself. Hands-on experience implementing paywalls in a paywall tool (Superwall, RevenueCat, Adapty, or equivalent). - Self-serve on data and AI. Comfortable with self-served BI, product analytics, and subscription reporting; you can size an opportunity and read an experiment without an analyst holding your hand. - You own the pricing model. You've built a price ladder or elasticity view and can defend it with numbers. - You know the stores. Deep familiarity with App Store Connect and Play Console subscription mechanics - subscription groups, intro offers and eligibility, win-back offers, price changes, and store review constraints on paywalls. - Experimentation rigour. You write a hypothesis and a numeric prediction before you launch, respect guardrails and cohort maturity, and report losses as readily as wins. - English required. French preferred, not required. Bonus points for: - Android monetization at scale, or experience with web2app or Stripe funnels. - Geo and PPP pricing run across several markets, including the localization and reporting nuances that come with it. - An AI-native way of working - we run much of this stack with agents. - Copy and design taste on paywalls, grounded in applied behavioural psychology. - Experience somewhere small enough that you had to close the whole loop yourself. If you're ready to shape the future of focus and productivity, we'd love to meet you! ## About Opal ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Opal is The Focus Company that builds a screen time app helping users measure and improve their focus on iPhone, iPad, and macOS. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed Stage) - **Headquarters**: New York City, United States (with a main office in Paris, France) - **Founded**: 2020 - **Founders**: Kenneth Schlenker (CEO) and Matt Davenport (CTO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Mobile Computing Software Products / Digital Wellness - **Target customers**: B2C — individuals seeking to reduce screen time and improve focus; B2B/B2G through Opal for Schools - **Mission statement**: "To empower humans to focus better every day."
