We believe dogs deserve the healthiest, most natural and tastiest meals - with none of the nasties. That’s why we make FRESHly prepared food, cooked just like you would at home and delivered directly to our customers in perfect portions. As a B-Corp certified company, you’re joining a sustainable business that genuinely cares about our people, our products and our impact on the planet. Our goal is simple: to help dogs live healthier, happier, and longer lives, while leaving humans smiling after every interaction. We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave), hand delivered the very first Butternut Box. Today, we feed hundreds of thousands of hungry dogs across the UK and Europe - but we won’t stop until we’re feeding dogs everywhere. To get there, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work for us. 🐾 The job: - Leadership Team: Play a key role in building a >€100mn business/market as part of the German leadership team, together with Brand, Direct Sales, People & Country Management. - Drive Market Growth: Take full ownership of our German acquisition budget, channel mix, and growth strategy. Work hand in hand with our Brand Manager to scale our acquisition channels even further & drive channel diversification. - Lead & Mentor: Direct and empower a team of 3+ channel specialists across performance marketing, influencer marketing & ambassador marketing, as well as agency partners to maximize performance and delivery. - Strategic Leadership: Partner directly with the Country Director on forecasting, budgeting, and long-term expansion plans, e.g. into new markets or channels. - Commercial Optimization: Be responsible for improving payback periods through channel diversification & lowering CPAs, as well as increasing LTVs through a strong focus on retention initiatives. - Reporting & Insights: Own performance reporting and clear stakeholder communication across all organizational levels. - Cross-Functional Alignment: Work seamlessly with global Product, CRM, Brand, and Executive stakeholders. 👀 What we're looking for: - Budget Ownership: 2+ years leading strategic growth with direct ownership of a mid-seven-figure (€) German acquisition budget within the D2C space, ideally subscription-focused. - Omnichannel Expertise: Deep hands-on and strategic expertise across paid digital/performance marketing and non-digital marketing channels, with a proven track record of building new acquisition channels from scratch. - Team Leadership: 2+ years of experience leading, structuring, and managing a team and agency partners. - Advanced Analytics: Strong proficiency in data analytics to drive channel optimisation & diversification. - Product & Conversion: Good grasp of digital product and CRO within the broader marketing ecosystem. You will not own this, but be a key stakeholder to them to improve our digital product & CRO. - Matrix Management: Proven ability to manage relationships across localized country teams and global functional units. - Languages: Native/C2 German and fluent business English. ⏳ The interview process: - Initial call with your dedicated Talent Acquisition Partner, carried out remotely. - The process will include a take home task, or a presentation of some kind. - Skills interview, usually carried out remotely. - Behaviours interview, usually carried out in person in the Berlin office. - Depending on the seniority of the role you're applying for, there may be a final Leadership interview as a final step. We usually expect our interview process to take 3-5 weeks, end to end. 🙌 Our benefits: - 25 vacation days + 1 extra day for every year (up to 4) that you grow with us - 5 additional, paid 'paws' days off per year dedicated to your personal wellbeing. Hit pause when you need it most. - Personal learning & development budget to sharpen your skills - Monthly selection of perks via our dedicated benefits platform - Urban Sports Club discounted membership for your fitness - Employee perks specifically for your four legged companion - Hybrid working (2 days home office / 3 days office) + Remote-First periods - Flexible working hours to fit your lifestyle - A budget to help set you up for success during home office days - Dogs are welcome in the office - yes, really. 🐕 - Close-knit team with regular social events, team buildings and parties guaranteed 💡 Important things to note: - Our team thrives on collaboration. We spend 3 days a week working from our office (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and 2 days working from home. Because being together is a big part of our culture, we’re looking for someone within a comfortable commutable distance to Berlin. - We’re a small (but mighty!) recruitment team. We aim to respond to everyone personally, but if we’re flooded with brilliant applications, we may need to close the role early. We appreciate your patience while we review applications. - For this specific role, we’re unable to offer visa sponsorship, so you’ll need the right to work in the EU. - We use an AI note-taking tool called Metaview at some stages in our interview processes. If you'd prefer to opt out, please inform your Talent Acquisition Partner as soon as possible. - We're committed to ensuring a positive interview experience for all candidates. If you have any specific needs or require reasonable accommodations due to disability, neurodiversity, or any other factors, please let us know and we'll do our best to make necessary arrangements, for example: extending the interview duration; scheduling short breaks during the interview to ensure your well-being; you may bring any necessary materials or tools for the interview such as your own written notes, communication boards or other assistive devices. ❗️We believe in a seat at the table for everyone. Butternut Box is an equal opportunity employer. We believe that to make the best food for all dogs, we need a team that represents all humans. We celebrate different nationalities, backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We are specifically committed to increasing representation from underrepresented groups. We want a strong, diverse team built from different identities and lived experiences. We’re not perfect, but we are dedicated to the ongoing work of building an inclusive, supportive place where you can do the best work of your career. ## About Butternut Box ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Butternut Box delivers fresh, tailored dog food directly to customers’ doors, aiming to improve the health and happiness of dogs and their humans. - **Entity Type**: Private (funding stage not publicly available) - **Headquarters**: London, United Kingdom (187 Wood Lane, London W12 7FQ) - **Founded**: 2016 - **Founders**: Kev and Dave (full names not disclosed) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Fresh dog food manufacturing and direct-to-consumer subscription delivery - **Target customers**: B2C – dog owners in the UK, Ireland, and Benelux - **Mission statement**: “To deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world.” ## Products & Services - **Fresh Dog Food Subscription**: Tailored meal plans based on each dog’s breed, weight, age, and activity level.
