They research what’s working in the feed, figure out why, make more of it, and measure what happens. We call that loop the creative strategy flywheel, and we’ve been building for it since day one. We started on the research and reporting end of the wheel. Motion became the analytics platform that shows marketing teams which of their ads are winning and why and that’s how we found product-market fit. Over the past two years we went all-in on AI, and now our agent, [Runneth](https://runneth.com/), runs the rest of the loop too: the ideas, the briefs, the creative, the launch. It’s the whole wheel now, and Runneth is taking off. That bet is paying off. Our valuation has nearly tripled in two years, and some of the world’s best ecommerce and DTC brands and agencies, including Vuori, AG1 and HexClad, run on Motion. This role will be fully remote, but the candidate must be based out of Toronto. 🇨🇦 About the Head of Sales Development role 🔍 Everything that got us to our Series B came inbound: word of mouth via content, events, and the product itself. We’ve never had a real outbound function, and now that Runneth is taking off, we want someone to own it. The good news is you wouldn’t be starting from zero, and you definitely wouldn’t be starting cold. There are 700K people in our CRM who already know us and a lot of the infrastructure is already built too. From personalization at scale, to signal-based sequences and enrichment, to RevOps support and a CRM that’s actually segmented. What we’re missing is the person who pulls all of that together, decides where to point it, and owns the number. You’d start hands-on, prove what works, then hire and lead the team that scales it. And if there are SDRs you’ve worked with who’d join you with a couple of phone calls, we’d love to hear about them. Things that make this role unique ✨ - It’s a fun category. You’d be selling to marketers about ads and creative, which is about as far from dry B2B software as it gets. - 700K person CRM. We don’t have a list problem, we have an execution and ownership problem across our warm CRM. - Data nobody else has. We spend millions collecting paid, organic and creator content so we can see the feeds people actually experience. That means you can open a conversation with what a prospect’s competitors are running right now, instead of a generic pitch. - Fixed comp to start. Outbound is new for us, and we’re not going to ask you to carry quota on a channel with no history yet. Your first six months are fully fixed, and variable comp tied to the pipeline you build kicks in after that. - AI is your headcount multiplier. There are no token limits here. ## What you'd be doing 🛠️ - Owning the lists. You decide who we go after, in what order, and which signals bump someone to the front of the line. - Owning the mediums. Email, phone, text, LinkedIn, events, etc. and in-person. You’d pick the right mix for each segment, whether we’re reaching the people running the ads or the leaders who own the budget. - Owning the messaging. The message, the CTA and the offer for every segment are yours. - Owning the number. Help us get to predictable pipeline quickly. - Scaling it. Recruit SDRs (including people you’ve worked with before) and onboard them into your system. Our ideal fit brings ✨ - You’ve built this before. You were the first sales development leader at a fast-growing B2B company, you hired the team, wrote the playbook and owned the pipeline it created. Today you’re probably a director, senior manager or head of sales development. - You know how to work warm pipeline. You’ve turned event attendees, product activations, lost deals and former customers into real meetings, not just worked cold lists. - You’re AI native. You run Clay-style enrichment, signals and automation, and you’ve built workflows or agents that let one person do the work of a team. - You’re still great on the phone, and you can coach it. You can pick up the phone and book a meeting yourself, and you know how to teach reps to do the same. - You have a bench. You know great SDRs, and they’d take your call. - You get the whole business. You understand how the company works, not just your part of the funnel, and you can explain why you do things the way you do. - [High agency](https://www.highagency.com/). You don’t wait for perfect conditions or a finished playbook. You read the data honestly and move. Bonus points - Experience selling to marketers - Experience running win-back programs for churned customers - You’ve built in person culture amongst SDRs - A background running field or in-person programs (dinners, workshops, city events) - Firsthand experience using Motion/Runneth ## What you'll love about Motion 💜 - Competitive compensation package: We offer competitive compensation, equity for all, health benefits from day one, a monthly health & wellness stipend, 20 days of PTO, a $1,500 work-from-home stipend, and your home internet bill on us. - Remote-first with hybrid flexibility: Our team spans Canada, the U.S., and beyond, with optional office spaces in Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, and Porto. - A deeply AI-native culture: AI is central to both our product and how we work. Our team is encouraged to experiment with any AI tools they'd like, without worrying about token limits. - A top-tier team: Our hiring philosophy is simple: high performers, low egos. - Growth that speaks for itself: We’re a Series B company with strong product-market fit, and our valuation has nearly tripled in the past two years. - Opportunity for impact: We’re still very much in startup mode, so your work will directly shape the product, the team, and the future of the business. - Team connection: We’re remote-first, but stay close through an [AI virtual office](https://ro.am/ai-video-meeting-app?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22127123966&gbraid=0AAAAAByzyQNhkanJxudcFyTsgMgNKEkC_&gclid=CjwKCAjw1IHTBhAaEiwA4AYNFhNPvH4iZvXNPt8ao7sMlgiE8_g2Ibicw_XElyNK7rdq9gM2GIkc3xoC-CQQAvD_BwE) and come together in person at least once a year for a company-wide retreat, usually in Muskoka! We closed out 2024 with a $30M Series B raise and strong signals from our customers. In 2025, we built the foundational capabilities our customers rely on, setting the stage for what’s to come. In 2026, with fresh funding ($65M+ total capital raised), we’re building forward from that foundation, taking what we learned to market in a deeply AI-native way. 🌎 A note on location: Motion is a fully remote company, but we’re looking for someone based in Toronto. 💸 Compensation: $250,000 to $300,000 fixed salary, plus equity. Your first six months are fully fixed, and after that we add variable compensation tied to the outbound pipeline you build, based on actual performance. We use artificial intelligence (AI) in certain parts of our recruiting process at Motion, ranging from administrative and efficiency-focused support to, in some cases, conducting introductory interviews. Every AI interview is reviewed, and every hiring decision is made, by a (human) member of our team. ## About Motion ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Motion is a creative analytics command center that helps performance marketers and creative teams analyze ad performance, research trends, and generate data-backed creative recommendations. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series B) - **Headquarters**: Toronto, Canada - **Founded**: 2021 - **Founders**: Reza Khadjavi (CEO), Alexander Sloan (CTO), David Berglas (CFO/Head of Finance) ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Advertising Technology (AdTech), Creative Analytics, Marketing Software - **Target customers**: B2B; primarily Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) e-commerce brands, performance marketing agencies, and increasingly B2B SaaS companies and consumer apps. - **Mission or purpose statement**: Not publicly stated in a formal mission, but the company operates as a "command centre for creative strategists," bridging the gap between performance marketers and creative teams to ship more winning ads. ## Products & Services - **[Creative Analytics]**: The core product.
