Companies like Rivian run their programs on Flow, keeping requirements, interfaces, tests, and design decisions connected in one live system instead of scattered across documents and legacy tools. We're growing fast, backed by Sequoia, and selling into an industry that is actively rethinking how engineering work gets done. ## The role Our technical win is consultative. In mid-market and enterprise deals, our SEs run a structured two-week evaluation where they don't just prove the product works. They sit with systems engineers and chief engineers and help them redesign how their organization does engineering to move faster. When we win, it's because we’ve demonstrated to the customer a new way of working, not because we checked more feature boxes. Right now we have a small SE team and no playbook. Deals get won, but they're won on individual effort rather than a system. Your job is to build that machine while running deals inside it. You'll carry evaluations yourself from day one, codify what already works on the team into a playbook anyone strong can run, and then hire and ramp the team that runs it. We plan to grow from to 10+ across regions in the next 12 months. The hiring bar, the ramp program, and the eval framework are yours to design and own. You'll report to the Head of Sales and work as a peer to our AE team. You'll also help design the handoff from technical win to deployment as we build out post-sales. ## What you'll own in year one - Personally run technical evaluations on our most important deals - Codify the SE playbook: trial plans, workshop formats, demo environments, competitive positioning against legacy requirements tools - Define the SE hiring profile and hire SEs - Build onboarding and certification so a new SE is running evals independently within their first quarter - Design the technical-win-to-deployment handoff with the Head of Sales Who does well here - You've led a solutions engineering or solutions architecture team of roughly 4 to 10 people, and you were still in deals while you led it. If you haven't personally run an enterprise evaluation in the last year, this probably isn't the right fit. - You built the systems, you didn't inherit them. You can show us an onboarding program, eval framework, or demo environment you created from nothing, ideally at a company generating eight figures of ARR - You've hired SEs against a bar you defined, and you can talk honestly about the ones you got wrong. - You're credible with engineers. You've sold technical products into hardware, manufacturing, CAD/PLM/simulation, or embedded software, or you have an engineering background yourself. You don't need to be a former systems engineer, but you need to be able to hire and evaluate them. - You want to build at this stage. If your ideal next step is running a 50-person org you didn't build, this role will frustrate you. ## About Flow Engineering ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Flow Engineering provides an agentic platform for systems engineering that enables hardware teams to manage requirements, design, and testing through a living system of record and AI agents. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series stage not explicitly stated; raised ~$40M total from Sequoia Capital and others) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2023 - **Founders**: Pari Singh (CEO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Systems engineering software / hardware development tools - **Target customers**: B2B, Enterprise – hardware engineering teams in aerospace, automotive, robotics, defense, and energy (e.g., Rivian, Joby, Astranis, Radiant Nuclear) - **Mission or purpose statement**: “Help unlock the next generation of hardware” – rebuild systems engineering for the agentic era, enabling teams to design, build, test, and iterate physical systems in hours, not months. ## Products & Services - **Flow Platform**: A requirements management and systems engineering tool that links requirements, design (CAD), simulations, code, and tests in a single “living system of record”. Features include branching/merging, impact analysis agents, systems graph, flexible data model, and AI agents (e.g., Impact Analysis Agent, Safety & Regulatory Compliance Agent, Mass/Cost/Power Budget Agent). Deployable in cloud, GovCloud, or self-hosted with ITAR, export control, and data residency. - **Flow v3**: Latest version – first agentic platform for systems engineering, allowing AI agents to perform real engineering work inside hardware development workflows. - **Flow Engineering Handbook**: Published guide on AI Systems Engineering for the agentic era. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total Funding ~$40M as of most recent round (non‑equity assistance and multiple seed rounds; led by Sequoia Capital and EQT Ventures); Annual Revenue estimated at $2.0M (LinkedIn data) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Sequoia Capital (lead investor; partner Roelof Botha on board), Patrick and John Collison (Stripe co‑founders), David Helgason (Unity co‑founder), EQT Ventures, Google for Startups - **Growth Signals**: - Used by tens of thousands of engineers across teams like Rivian (1,500+ engineers), Joby Aviation, Astranis, Radiant Nuclear, Impulse Space, Mytra, Volkswagen Group Technologies. - Active job postings: 10–12 open roles (as of mid‑2026), with quarterly job posting growth of +66.7%. - Backed by Sequoia Capital (partnered in 2025); company has grown to ~27 employees with presence in US, UK, Sweden, Spain. - Headcount growth recent month showed -6.9%, but same‑source LinkedIn shows heavily active hiring pipeline. ## Competitive Advantages - **Agent‑first systems engineering**: First platform to integrate AI agents that reason across the entire engineering graph (requirements, CAD, simulation, test). Agents perform impact analysis, compliance checks, and budget tracking automatically. - **Defense‑grade security & compliance**: ITAR/EAR aligned, NIST 800‑171, CUI, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA – essential for regulated industries. - **Living system of record**: All engineering artifacts linked and version‑controlled with branching/merging, enabling zero‑cost change propagation. - **High‑value customer base**: Signed marquee hardware companies (Rivian, Joby, Astranis) that are building the next generation of rockets, eVTOL, satellites, and robots. - **Strong investor backing**: Sequoia Capital (a top‑tier VC) and technical co‑founder endorsements (Collison, Helgason) provide credibility and network. ## Strategic Focus - **Agentic transformation**: Doubling down on AI agents that can perform real engineering work (not just assist) – moving from analog/digital to “agentic” era. - **Scaling to enterprise & defense**: Expanding GovCloud, self‑hosted, and ITAR‑compliant deployments to win defense and compliance‑driven contracts. - **Category creation**: Replacing traditional requirements tools (like IBM DOORS) with a modern, agent‑centric platform. - **Global hiring**: Aggressively hiring for engineering (AI, frontend, full‑stack, infrastructure) and sales roles across San Francisco and London. ## Why Work Here - **Impact at scale**: Work directly on tools used by companies building rockets, electric vehicles, autonomous robots – your code ships into real hardware. - **Engineering culture**: Emphasis on shipping a V1 quickly, iterating, and maintaining “zero cost of change.” Values include speed, fundamentals done well, maximum effort/maximum fun. - **Work environment**: Hybrid/remote policies not explicitly stated, but roles are listed in San Francisco (in‑office likely for engineering) and London. Equity offered across all roles. - **Compensation**: Salaries range $120K–$300K for US roles with equity; London roles £80K–£180K. - **Team culture**: Backed by Sequoia, described as a “small team with huge leverage” – ~27 employees currently but growing fast. - **Notable perks**: Free trial demo available; engineering handbook published; company rating 4.0/5 on LinkedIn (16 reviews), with strong compensation (4.0) and culture (3.8) scores. ## Sources 1.
