Our goal is to design, build, and operate the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services in the United States. Our mission is to restore America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel—fuel that will power AI, advanced manufacturing, critical industries, and the next generation of nuclear reactors. Ultimately, our work will help power national ambitions and enable a high-energy society. We were incubated by Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by top-tier investors. Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production. We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency. Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable. ## About This Role As Senior Inventory & Warehouse Analyst, you will own inventory accuracy, visibility, and material flow end-to-end across our Paducah manufacturing facility, warehouse, and laydown yard. That covers metal plate, structural steel, pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, welding consumables, and purchased components. This is the site's first dedicated inventory role. You won't inherit someone else's system. You'll build the processes, set the standards, and make sure the right material, with the right paperwork, reaches the right work order on the planned date. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who is both analytical and hands-on. You should be as comfortable building a shortage forecast from a BOM as you are walking the yard to track down a heat number. You'll work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Project Management, Production, Quality, and Finance, and your work will directly decide whether fabrication stays on schedule for a facility of national importance. If you seek high impact and are excited by fast-paced, intense, Skunkworks-style projects, we encourage you to apply to join our team. ## Responsibilities Inventory Planning & Analysis - Forecast material needs from project schedules, build plans, and bills of material (BOMs); set min/max levels, reorder points, and safety stock; flag shortages early through MRP review. - Run ABC/XYZ classification, excess and obsolete (E&O) review, and remnant/drop utilization analysis, and recommend dispositions to Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality. - Analyze job-level material cost variance (estimated vs. issued vs. actual) and report root causes to Project Management and Estimating. - Apply AI and analytics tools to forecasting, shortage detection, and E&O review, checking results against source data before acting on them. Warehouse, Yard & Material Handling - Design storage solutions and optimize warehouse and yard layout, including segregation of carbon, stainless, and alloy materials and controlled areas for safety-related items. - Coordinate receiving, kitting, staging, and material movement with Quality on hold/release status; maintain labeling, preservation, and shelf-life control. - Keep daily-use consumables (filler metals, abrasives, gases) stocked for production using FIFO/FEFO controls. Nuclear Quality & Traceability - Maintain heat/lot traceability, MTRs/CMTRs, certificates of conformance, and PMI status, linked to inventory records and job packages. - Control material identification and status (accepted, on hold, rejected, quarantined) from receipt through storage, kitting, and issue, per the GM Quality Assurance Program and 10 CFR Part 70 facility procedures. - Support receiving-documentation checks for commercial-grade dedication, and flag suspected nonconformances and counterfeit, fraudulent, or suspect items (CFSI) to Quality. - Maintain inventory, receiving, and count records as quality records, and follow export-control requirements for controlled materials, drawings, and records. Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement - Run site-level setup in the MES, inventory management system, and ERP within shared company standards, and keep site data clean and accurate. - Own the cycle count and physical inventory program; investigate variances and drive corrective actions to sustain 98%+ location/quantity accuracy and 100% traceability accuracy on controlled material. - Build dashboards and KPIs (turns, days on hand, accuracy, fill rate, on-time material availability, aged inventory), and support close, valuation, and audits with Finance. - Write SOPs and work instructions, train staff, partner with the systems team on testing and rollout, and lead Lean/Six Sigma improvements. ## Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or Engineering; OR four additional years of relevant experience in place of a degree. - 5–8 years of inventory control, materials management, or logistics experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial construction. - Proven record of measurably improving inventory accuracy, material availability, or warehouse performance, such as count programs built, shortages reduced, or layouts redesigned. - Hands-on experience with MES, inventory management, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar). - Strong command of FIFO/FEFO, heat/lot-specific issue, cycle counting, and ABC analysis; advanced Excel (pivots, lookups, Power Query). - Ability to work in warehouse, shop, and outdoor yard environments, including lifting up to 40 lbs and climbing ladders to elevated storage; ability to travel approximately 25%. - U.S. person status required due to export-control requirements; ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and access authorization. ## Preferred Skills and Experience - Experience in a nuclear, DOE, or NRC-regulated quality environment, including safety-related material control, CFSI, and 10 CFR Part 21. - Knowledge of process piping materials, including pipe schedules, ASTM/ASME specifications, fittings, flanges, and valves, and MTR/CMTR traceability for code work. - Experience with spool fabrication, isometrics, and material take-offs. - APICS CPIM/CSCP/CLTD certification; Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt; Master's degree. - Deep SAP (MM/PP/WM) or Oracle experience; ERP implementation or upgrade experience; Power BI or Tableau. - Experience with WMS and barcode/RFID tracking, and with MRP for complex, multi-phase projects. - Demonstrated, measurable results applying AI or machine-learning tools to inventory, forecasting, or material planning. - Experience standing up a new warehouse, site, or inventory function in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment. - Forklift certification; hazardous materials handling. Additional Requirements Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary. ## Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this role is $90,000–$175,000 annually. Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at General Matter. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock options. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, HSA/FSA/Commuter benefits, and various other benefits. ## About General Matter ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Nuclear energy – uranium enrichment, nuclear fuel supply chain - **Target customers**: Nuclear power plant operators (civilian reactors, small modular reactors, microreactors), data center operators, industrial manufacturers, and government/defense entities - **Mission**: “Restore US leadership in nuclear fuel” and “make the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable” [generalmatter.com/mission](https://generalmatter.com/mission/) ## Products & Services - **Low Enriched Uranium (LEU)**: Enrichment of uranium to 3-5% U-235 for existing US civilian reactors (supplying ~20% of US grid power) - **High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU)**: Enrichment to 5-20% U-235 for next-generation small modular reactors (SMRs) and microreactors - **Enrichment as a Service**: Novel, scalable, cost-competitive enrichment technology to fill the critical gap in the US nuclear fuel cycle (conversion → enrichment → deconversion/fabrication) ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (private company) - **Key Metric**: Currently hiring for 64+ roles across engineering, construction, legal, and operations; actively building enrichment capacity - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Described as backed by “institutions” and “generational companies” – specific names not publicly available [generalmatter.com/careers](https://generalmatter.com/careers/) - **Growth Signals**: Aggressive hiring across multiple disciplines; establishing a physical presence in Los Angeles (HQ) and Paducah, Kentucky (construction/manufacturing); addressing a critical national security gap (US currently performs <1% of global enrichment) ## Competitive Advantages - **Domestic enrichment technology**: Novel, proprietary enrichment process designed to be cheaper, more reliable, and scalable compared to foreign state-backed competitors - **National security moat**: Sole US-focused enrichment startup aiming to break dependence on Russian and Chinese supply chains - **Talent pool**: Attracts high-caliber individuals from nuclear engineering, technology, finance, and special operations backgrounds - **First-mover in HALEU**: Positioned to fuel the next wave of advanced reactors and behind-the-meter power for AI data centers ## Strategic Focus - **Scale domestic enrichment capacity**: Build and operate enrichment facilities in the US (Los Angeles and Paducah) - **Support AI and manufacturing growth**: Provide reliable, emissions-free baseload power for compute and industrial expansion - **Enable advanced reactors**: Supply HALEU for SMRs and microreactors, opening new markets in remote and austere environments - **Strengthen US energy independence**: Restore US leadership in nuclear fuel production ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: High standards, extreme ownership, copious autonomy, deep trust, zero politics – described as “work with the best across nuclear, tech and finance” [generalmatter.com/careers](https://generalmatter.com/careers/) - **Work environment**: On-site roles in Los Angeles, CA (engineering, nuclear, legal) and Paducah, KY (construction, procurement); no remote/hybrid options explicitly stated - **Notable perks**: Mission-driven work with national impact; opportunity to solve a critical energy and security challenge; flat organization with high agency - **Engineering culture**: Emphasis on control systems, embedded software, simulation, DevOps, and nuclear safety engineering; also seeks creative minds and numbers savants ## Sources 1.
