Brighte is building the platform to enable and accelerate the energy transition by making it affordable, easy and less risky to buy and sell energy equipment. Our founder and CEO, Katherine McConnell, has been awarded Telstra Businesswoman of the year in 2020 as well as winning the Sustainability Crusader award at B&T's 2023 Women Leading Tech Awards. She is a passionate and humble leader who has a human first approach to business. As a business in 2025, we have been named a AFR Sustainability Leader within the Banking and Finance category and won the inaugural Sustainability Award at the Affies in 2024! ## About the Role Brighte's financial platform sits at the heart of everything we do and we need someone curious enough to truly understand it. You'll work inside our core financial system finPOWER alongside an internal expert, using AI tooling to decode existing scripts, build a knowledge base, and bridge the gap between legacy logic and our modern stack. This is a rare chance to develop deep, high-value expertise in a system that directly drives the business and leave your mark on how we carry it forward. If untangling complexity with the support of AI sounds like your kind of challenge, this one's worth a look. ## What You'll Do - System support & development - Work within an established VB and C# codebase to investigate, troubleshoot, and implement changes. You'll develop a thorough understanding of the system's architecture and data model over time. - SQL & data - Write and optimise SQL queries to extract and validate financial data, supporting investigations and reporting requests from Finance and Operations. You'll identify data integrity issues and work with the team to resolve them. - Business & UI understanding - Review the system from a user perspective to understand how business teams operate day-to-day, translating that into meaningful technical improvements. You'll ask "why" as much as "how." - Documentation — Write clear, maintainable documentation of system behaviour, business logic, and investigation findings. Good documentation is part of the job here, not an afterthought. - Learning & growth - Actively build knowledge of financial concepts including lending, payments, and reconciliation, and surface problems you find — not just the ones you're assigned. As Brighte embraces AI tooling, this role will grow with it. ## What You’ll Bring - Understanding in VB Script this is highly valued and central to your success in the role. - Working knowledge of SQL and the ability to write queries independently. - Exposure to C# or a willingness to pick it up quickly. - Comfort navigating legacy systems and getting into the detail without a full map. - An interest in finance and financial systems, prior exposure is a bonus, but a genuine appetite to learn is essential. - Strong attention to detail and methodical problem-solving approach. - Working in a financial services or fintech environment would be highly advantageous - Familiarity with accounting concepts such as reconciliation, ledgers, or payments would be highly advantageous. Our hiring process We use AI every day at Brighte, and we hire people who do too. Every role includes an  assessment that shows us how you put AI to work, use whatever tool you're most comfortable with, there's no trick to it. Background and reference checks (police, AML, bankruptcy) come towards the end. We use AI in parts of our recruitment process, but final decisions are made by humans. ## What's in it for you - Hybrid working. 3 days in office, 2 from home. - We love our Socials - lunches, drinks, snacks, table tennis, a properly stocked pantry, and the company of people you actually like. - Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP). Share in Brighte's success. - End-of-trip facilities for cyclists, including showers and towel service. - Anniversary leave. An extra day off each year to mark your time with us. ## About Brighte ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Brighte makes sustainable energy affordable and accessible for Australian households by providing financing for solar, batteries, electric vehicles, and home electrification through a network of trusted tradies. - **Entity Type**: Private (venture-backed; last known round: Series C in Dec 2020 led by Grok Ventures) - **Headquarters**: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia - **Founded**: 2015 - **Founders**: Katherine McConnell (CEO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Financial Services (solar finance & clean energy lending) - **Target customers**: B2C (Australian homeowners), B2B (solar installers/tradies, government partners) - **Mission**: To make sustainability affordable and accessible for everyone, with a focus on solar, batteries, electric vehicles and home electrification. ## Products & Services - **Home Energy Saver Loan**: 0% interest, no-fee loan for NSW households to lower energy bills (funded by NSW Government). - **Solar & Battery Financing**: Loans for residential solar installations and battery storage through a network of 2,600+ partner tradies. - **EV & Home Electrification Loans**: Finance for electric vehicles and energy-efficient home upgrades. - **Government Scheme Administration**: Manages programs such as the $200M ACT Sustainable Household Scheme and $50M TAS Energy Saver Loan Scheme. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed (private company). - **Key Metric**: Annual Revenue ~USD $23.1M (per LinkedIn); Total Funding ~USD $434.3M across 9 rounds. - **Notable Investors & Partners**: Grok Ventures (lead Series A & C), AirTree Ventures (lead Series B), National Australia Bank, Bank of Queensland.
