At Raidium, we build our own foundation models for radiology, for 3D CT and MRI imaging. We released Curia, a state-of-the-art vision encoder for CT and MRI, trained on about 150,000 clinical exams. We then built Jolia, a vision-language model for 3D CT that learns from radiology reports at the level of individual findings. Our next steps include localization, multi-volume and longitudinal reasoning, and more interactive use of these models by radiologists. As an intern, you join the research team and work on one research topic related to foundation model pre-training and adaptation. In particular, you will work development of generative VLMs with image grounding and localisation, with applications to findings classification and evolution of pathologies through time. In this internship, you will: Read the latest literature on foundation models research for vision and language Design and run experiments on 3D vision and vision-language foundation models for radiology Train models at scale on Raidium's dataset of radiology exams and reports, using GPU clusters Benchmark your approach on clinical downstream tasks (detection, segmentation, classification, report generation) Work with radiologists to define the needs and to check the results Share your results with the team, and when possible, publish them in a top-tier conference or journal You will have a daily follow-up with a researcher from the team, and a weekly meeting with senior researchers. The internship will be managed by a lead researcher at Raidium. ## About Raidium Raidium builds foundation models for radiology and the software that brings them to radiologists. Our models, Curia and Jolia, power a new generation of tools to read and analyze CT and MRI exams. Raidium was founded by experts in radiology and machine learning: Pierre Manceron, CEO, Centrale Paris engineer in Applied Mathematics and Machine Learning, former ML lead at Owkin Paul Herent, CMO, radiologist and former interne des hôpitaux de Paris, Cogmaster (ENS) and PSL, with published research on deep learning in radiology ## Your profile - Final year of MSc in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering (for example MVA), or PhD student looking for a research internship - Strong knowledge of Deep Learning, with Computer Vision and/or NLP - Good Python skills, and experience with PyTorch - Interest in research and in the healthcare domain - Authorization to work in France Pluses (not required): - Experience with Transformers, self-supervised learning or vision-language models - ## Experience with 3D or medical images - ## Experience with version control such as git - ## Experience with HPC clusters and multi-GPU training - Experience with coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex - Publications in top-tier Machine Learning or medical imaging venues ## Why join us - Work on real research problems with a direct impact on patient care - Train large models on a unique dataset of radiology exams and reports (130 TB) - Access to large GPU clusters, including European supercomputers - Work with a team of expert ML researchers, engineers and radiologists - Apply and improve the latest Deep Learning technologies to build an inspiring product - Have a real and positive impact on people's lives - Access to premium computing hardware - Competitive salary ## About Raidium ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Raidium builds an AI-native interactive platform that uses foundation models to advance precision radiology, enabling radiologists to detect lesions, generate RECIST-ready reports, and accelerate clinical workflows. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage; $22.1M total funding including grant and venture rounds) - **Headquarters**: Paris, France - **Founded**: 2022 - **Founders**: Paul Hérent (MD, MSc, CEO) and Pierre Manceron (MSc, CSO) ## Core Business - Primary industry: Medical imaging AI / Healthcare IT - Target customers: Radiologists, hospitals, clinical research organizations (B2B, Enterprise) - Mission: To democratize precision radiology by embedding state-of-the-art foundation models directly into radiologists’ existing workflows, reducing manual context-switching and improving patient outcomes. ## Products & Services - **[Raidium Read](https://raidium.eu/about-us/)**: AI-native viewer for oncology that detects solid tumors, new lesions, and incidental findings; segments organs and lesions; and produces structured RECIST 1.1–ready reports within a single interface. (SaaS / Software) - **[Jolia](https://linkedin.com/company/raidium)**: Vision-language foundation model for chest and abdominal CT, trained on 74,434 CT–report pairs using the ConQuer alignment method. Achieves state-of-the-art findings classification (77.05% average AUROC) and abdominal CT report generation (+34% relative gain on RadGraph-F1). (Foundation model / API) - **[ONCOPILOT](https://raidium.eu/about-us/)**: AI model for automated solid tumor evaluation, delivering radiologist-level precision in RECIST 1.1 measurements and reducing variability. (AI model) ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding of $22.1M (including a €16M seed round co-led by Kurma Partners and Newfund, a €2.5M EIC Accelerator grant, and other rounds) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Kurma Partners, Newfund, Galion.exe, Founders Future, Debiopharm, Techmind, European Innovation Council (EIC), Bpifrance, Inria, Microsoft (via GenAI Studio), Centre d’Imagerie du Nord - **Growth Signals**: 43 employees (+82.1% YoY); named laureate of France 2030 “Pionniers de l’IA” program; winner of Microsoft GenAI Studio; selected for the IA-ction deeptech accelerator; won the “AI for Health” Challenge (€600K) from Île-de-France Region. ## Competitive Advantages - Proprietary foundation models (Curia for structural understanding, Jolia for vision-language) trained on large, diverse datasets. - First AI-native PACS viewer that integrates detection, segmentation, and structured reporting into one semi-automated workflow — avoiding the “tool trap” of fragmented point solutions. - Strong sovereign AI positioning (French government backing, partnerships with Inria and Bpifrance). - Access to large retrospective real-world datasets via hospital partnerships. ## Strategic Focus - Deploy Raidium Read to market and scale commercial adoption. - Continue advancing foundation model capabilities (e.g., Jolia, ONCOPILOT) for broader clinical applications. - Grow the team across research, engineering, and clinical deployment roles. - Expand partnerships with industrial and academic biomarker research projects. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Mission-driven team passionate about transforming radiology with AI; described as “cutting-edge” and “sovereign” technology environment. - **Work policy**: Hybrid and on-site options available in Paris (roles like Clinical Account Manager are hybrid; some positions are on-site). - **Notable perks**: Part of high-profile national AI initiatives (France 2030, Microsoft GenAI Studio); opportunity to work on state-of-the-art foundation models with direct clinical impact. - **Engineering culture**: Strong research focus (13 researchers out of 43 employees), with backgrounds from Inria, Owkin, Cardiologs, and top universities.
