We are an all-scientist team of biologists, chemists, and machine learning experts that believe targeted extrahepatic delivery is the only thing preventing RNA therapies from becoming the standard-of-care for most chronic diseases. We combine deep expertise in receptor biology, generative AI, and high throughput in vivo data generation to exponentially accelerate the development of RNA therapeutics for new tissues. We are addressing a major unmet need across the industry and actively partner with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and biotech. About the Role: We are seeking a Research Associate I / II / Snr RA to conduct molecular biology-based assays to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) properties of therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with various high throughput molecular biology assays and will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support various drug discovery project Core Responsibilities ● Execute routine molecular biology workflows including RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR/RT-qPCR, ddPCR ● Prepare reagents, buffers, and master mixes; maintain clean work practices (RNase-free technique) ● Perform sample processing from diverse matrices (cells, tissues, biofluids) including homogenization, lysis, cleanup, quantification, and normalization ● Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in our electronic lab notebook, including protocols, deviations, and raw data traceability ● Conduct data QC and basic analysis (standard curves, ddCt, acceptance criteria), and summarize results clearly for team review ● Support assay development/optimization: primer/probe evaluation, thermal gradient optimization, input range testing, inhibition checks, and repeatability testing ● Maintain mammalian cell cultures (immortalized, engineered, and primary cells) using aseptic technique, including thawing, passaging, cryopreservation, cell counting/viability assessment, and routine mycoplasma testing; plate and prepare cells for downstream assays ● Use automated liquid handlers and other lab automation to increase throughput and reproducibility of plate-based assays; help develop, program, and validate new protocols on these instruments, including verifying accuracy and precision against manual methods ● Manage inventory for molecular and cell biology consumables; coordinate ordering; monitor reagent lot changes and qualify new lots when needed ● Troubleshoot core lab equipment (qPCR/ddPCR instruments, plate readers, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets), escalating service needs appropriately ● Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure samples are collected, labeled, stored, and transferred correctly ● Share results across company with clear context, controls, and interpretation What we’re looking for: - Ability to work on site in our lab spaces located in the California Bay Area – Research park at Marina Village (Alameda, CA) - Motivated and proactive with strong problem-solving skills. - Team-oriented and open to collaboration across scientific disciplines. - Title is dependent on academic and professional experience – we recruit diverse backgrounds including those with academic, non-profit, and industry experiences! - RA I – Undergraduate degree 0-2 yrs industry, or similar experience - RA II – BS with 2-4 years or MS with 0-2 years of industry, or similar experience - Snr RA -- BS with 4+ years or Ms with 2+ years of industry, or similar experience ## About Nosis Bio ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Nosis Bio is a biotechnology company developing receptor-targeted RNA medicines using an AI-native platform to enable cell-specific gene silencing for the treatment of chronic diseases. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series stage not publicly disclosed) - **Headquarters**: Berkeley, California, United States - **Founded**: Not publicly disclosed - **Founders**: Jim Martineau (CEO & Co-founder), Seth Myers (CTO & Co-founder), Chad Miller (Head of Research Platform & Co-founder) ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Biotechnology, RNA Therapeutics, Drug Delivery, AI-Powered Drug Design - **Target customers**: B2B (pharmaceutical partners for co-development and licensing) and B2C (patients via internal pipeline of therapeutics) - **Mission or purpose statement**: To end chronic disease by changing the cost and risk curve of new therapeutic development. ## Products & Services - **Connexa™ Platform**: An AI-native, physics-aware deep learning platform that designs RNA therapeutics capable of targeting any cell type. It co-selects and co-optimizes delivery ligands with specific RNA payloads to unlock therapeutic access for conditions of the heart, lungs, kidneys, muscle, small intestine, blood cells, and brain. - **Internal Pipeline (Fibrosis)**: Nosis Bio nominated its first development candidate in fibrosis in July 2025, advancing its cell-targeted gene silencing platform into IND-enabling studies. ## Market Standing - **Valuation**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding amount not publicly disclosed; revenue not applicable (pre-commercial biotech) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Johnson & Johnson (strategic collaboration and license agreement, expanded in March 2026 for Neurology), Daiichi Sankyo (collaboration announced March 2025) - **Growth Signals**: 46.2% year-over-year headcount growth (13 employees as of mid-2026); opened a new 16,000-square-foot facility in Alameda, CA; nominated first development candidate; secured major pharma partnerships with J&J and Daiichi Sankyo; active job postings (3 open roles as of July 2026). ## Competitive Advantages - **Cell-specific delivery**: The company’s core differentiator is solving the "largest unmet need in RNA therapeutic development" — delivering RNA medicines to cells beyond the liver. This unlocks an entirely new class of treatable diseases. - **Physics-aware AI**: Unlike many AI drug discovery companies that rely purely on pattern recognition, Nosis uses physics-informed machine learning (e.g., Deep Kernel Inversion) to scale accurate molecular interaction predictions, reducing the risk of overpromising. - **Full-stack platform**: The Connexa platform integrates delivery vehicle design, payload selection, and high-throughput biochemistry in-house, allowing rapid, de-risked in vivo development. ## Strategic Focus - **Neurology and beyond**: The expanded J&J collaboration (March 2026) signals a major push into central nervous system (CNS) indications, a notoriously difficult area for drug delivery. - **Internal pipeline advancement**: With a development candidate nominated in fibrosis, the company is transitioning from a pure platform play to a pipeline-stage biotech, moving toward IND-enabling studies. - **Partnership-driven growth**: Nosis is leveraging pharma collaborations to validate its platform while simultaneously advancing its own therapeutic programs, balancing near-term revenue with long-term value creation. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: The company emphasizes a culture of "empathy and respect," "first principles thinking," and "failing fast, failing often, and learning." They value patient-centric outcomes and hold themselves to the highest standards of scientific rigor. - **Team**: Highly collaborative with a flat structure; the team includes brilliant scientists and engineers across computational, biochemistry, and translational disciplines. As of mid-2026, the team is small (~13 people) but growing rapidly (+46% YoY), offering significant impact and ownership. - **Work Environment**: Based in a brand-new, 16,000-square-foot facility in Alameda, CA, equipped for in-house high-throughput biochemistry. The company is on-site (Alameda/Berkeley area), with a focus on wet-lab and computational science collaboration. - **Notable Perks**: Opportunity to work at the frontier of AI and biology; direct exposure to major pharma partnerships (J&J, Daiichi Sankyo); early-stage equity potential in a high-growth startup; a mission-driven focus on curing chronic disease. ## Sources 1.
