We recruit, train, and support transformational candidates up and down the ballot — and run them to win. We believe that no matter where we come from or what our color, most of us want the same things. We want to earn enough to thrive, not just survive, and leave a better future for our kids. We want healthy food and clean water, safe neighborhoods and a safe world. We want to be free. The Working Families Party is regular people coming together across our differences to make a better future for us all. We’re a multiracial party that fights for workers over bosses and people over the powerful. We want an America which realizes the promise – unrealized in our history – of freedom and equality for all. ## ABOUT THE ROLE Our Field Organizer program will support our Vote WFP campaign in NY19, a must-win general election race in the state. In this district, we will help defend NYWFP-endorsed Democrat Josh Riley and defeat his Republican challenger Peter Oberacker by driving up votes for Riley on the Working Families ballot line. The Field Organizer will receive comprehensive field training, including on field strategy, community organizing, voter contact tools, persuasion, and volunteer recruitment and management. This program runs from September 21, 2026 to November 6, 2026. ## ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Execute strategic field plans; plan and host phone-banking, canvassing, and other voter contact events; talk to voters - Build, recruit for, and lead multiple in-district community canvasses each week - Record data on a daily basis - Recruit, train and develop volunteers into field leaders; build membership for the Party - Outreach community organizations and constituency groups - Build deep relationships with our priority campaigns and candidates and serve as a day-to-day operations contact ## SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - Experience doing field organizing (including as a volunteer) at a community organization, at a union and/or on an electoral campaign - Familiarity with some voter contact/field tools - This person must be a data and people person — able to spend some days in spreadsheets and voter files and other days calling and meeting with volunteers - Deeply relational and can build trust with people from different backgrounds and with different work styles - Values alignment on our theory of change, which is that we are electing progressive champions to form a governing bloc to deliver material results for our people - Operating effectively in a fast-paced, “startup” environment with a lean team - Demonstrated commitment to, and experience in, centering equity and inclusion in your work - removing barriers to participation and engaging people across lines of race, class, age, language and geography, especially when it’s not the path of least resistance Applicants must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor, or take over sponsorship of, employment visas at this time. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Families Party is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to economic and social justice. Women, people of color, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, and members of other historically disenfranchised populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Any applicant who requires an accommodation in order to apply for or perform the essential functions of the job should contact us at jobs@workingfamilies.org with the subject line "Application Accommodation" to request such an accommodation. ## About Working Families Party ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: The Working Families Party (WFP) is a progressive political party in the United States that fights for the multiracial working class by recruiting, training, and electing people-powered candidates. - **Entity Type**: Private (Nonprofit Political Organization) - **Headquarters**: Brooklyn, New York, United States - **Founded**: 1998 - **Founders**: Bertha Lewis, Dan Cantor (merger of the New Party, Citizen Action, and ACORN) ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Political Organizations, Electoral Campaigning, Advocacy - **Target customers**: Voters, activists, working-class individuals, unions, community organizations (B2C and B2B with partner groups) - **Mission or purpose statement**: To build a nation that works for the many, not the few – fighting for higher wages, fair criminal justice, and getting money out of politics. ## Products & Services - **Candidate Recruitment & Training**: WFP identifies and trains progressive candidates for offices from city council to U.S. Senate. - **Electoral Campaigns**: Runs field organizing, messaging, and get-out-the-vote operations, sometimes in Democratic primaries, sometimes on the WFP ballot line. - **Coalition Building**: Partners with unions, community organizations, and social movements to advance a shared legislative agenda. - **Membership Program**: Offers a dues-paying membership ($10/month or $120/year) that gives supporters a direct role in party governance. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (nonprofit) - **Key Metric**: Annual Revenue of USD $3,653,167 (most recent data); Membership of 69,622 (December 2025) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Unions, community organizations, and social movements; the party is governed by its members and partner groups. - **Growth Signals**: Active hiring for multiple senior roles (Chief Development Officer, Director of Engineering, state directors, organizers); expanding into new states like Massachusetts and Rhode Island; 152 employees with offices in five U.S. locations. ## Competitive Advantages - **Fusion Voting Strategy**: WFP cross-endorses candidates on its own ballot line in states where fusion voting is legal, giving working-class voters a distinct progressive option without "spoiling" the election. - **Multiracial Coalition**: Deliberately built as a multiracial party, uniting diverse communities around shared economic and social justice goals. - **Proven Track Record**: Over two decades of electing transformational leaders and winning major policy victories (higher wages, criminal justice reform, money-in-politics reform). ## Strategic Focus - **State Chapter Expansion**: Currently building new state chapters (e.g., Massachusetts, Rhode Island) and deepening existing ones (California, New York, Oregon). - **Electoral Power**: Recruiting and running candidates up and down the ballot, with a focus on local and state races that build long-term movement infrastructure. - **Data & Technology**: Investing in engineering and data infrastructure to better target voters and measure campaign effectiveness (recently hiring a Director of Engineering). ## Why Work Here - **Mission-Driven Culture**: Staff are deeply committed to progressive change and working in a unionized, inclusive environment. - **Comprehensive Benefits**: Health/dental/vision (first of month after hire), FSA, life insurance, 401(k) with immediate vesting, generous vacation (including comp time, sick days, personal days), paid parental leave (up to 12 weeks), sabbatical after 4 years, short-term disability, and $400/year professional development fund. - **Remote/Hybrid Options**: Many roles are fully remote; some are hybrid (e.g., California organizer roles).
