Position Overview: LawDepot is currently expanding and looking to recruit an Online Notary Public. You will be responsible for completing remote, online notarizations for our United States–based website users and providing feedback to help improve our platform. While we also serve Canadian customers, this position is dedicated to supporting our U.S. users. This is an independent contractor role, performed remotely. We are primarily looking for candidates with daytime availability during the week, with weekday shifts running from 1–6 p.m. Weekend shifts run from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and may be a good fit for someone looking for more casual or part-time weekend work. Compensation ranges from $5.00–8.00 for the first notarial act and $2.00–4.00 for each additional act. We also offer Notaries the opportunity to serve as witnesses, earning them $5.00 for each completed session. Primary Responsibilities: - Complete the notarization of customer documents - Verify the authenticity of important documents while working remotely - Explain the notarization process to customers and provide a professional, responsive experience - Review and verify signer identity per the commissioning state's requirements - Confirm the signer understands the document and is signing willingly - Review documents for completeness and correct certificate wording - Administer acknowledgement and jurat notarial acts - Record each notarization in a digital notary journal as required by state law - Certify the authenticity of signatures on important legal documents - Serve as a witness for other notaries' sessions when required and available - Support product quality by testing features and reporting bugs and improvement ideas to the notary team - Manage customer communication through our internal account portal - Maintaining certification as mandated by state - Assist with testing and quality assurance, when needed Knowledge and Skill Requirements: - More than 6 months of experience in a Remote Online Notary Public role, handling confidential and private customer documents - Valid Electronic Notary Public certification in Virginia - Commissioned Notary Public in Virginia - Strong attention to detail - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Technically savvy – ability to learn internal tools and new software - Dependable attendance and punctuality. - Well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills - Ability to resolve standard document issues with minimal assistance - Must have minimum $25,000 error and omission insurance coverage (E&O) - Must have a working desktop computer/ laptop, webcam, microphone, and high-speed internet connection How to Apply: Apply for this job here or submit your application through our Careers page at https://www.lawdepot.com/career/?loc=US.
