We closed a Series C and we're scaling fast, and building the financial infrastructure to match that growth is critical. This role is central to that. Note: This is a full-time, on-site role at our Glen Cove, NY manufacturing facility ## The Role We're looking for a Plant Controller to serve as the senior finance partner embedded at our manufacturing facility -- owning the plant's financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting, and working side-by-side with Operations leadership to ensure financial discipline is built into every operational decision. This role reports formally to the Senior Finance Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager. That structure is intentional -- it preserves independent financial oversight while ensuring close day-to-day partnership with the people running the plant. ## What You'll Do Financial Reporting & Close - Own the plant's full financial reporting: monthly close, variance analysis, and management reporting on plant performance - Serve as the primary finance point of contact for the plant during external audits (RSM), providing supporting schedules and documentation - Maintain internal controls at the plant level and flag risks or process gaps to corporate Finance - Present financial results, forecasts, and cost analyses clearly and confidently to senior leadership -- translating plant-level detail into business-level insight Budgeting & Forecasting - Lead budgeting and forecasting for the facility, partnering with the Plant Manager on labor, materials, overhead, and capital planning - Evaluate capital expenditure requests and provide financial analysis to support operational decision-making -- new equipment, additional shifts, headcount, and more Cost Accounting & Inventory - Oversee cost accounting for the plant: standard costs, BOM cost accuracy, landed cost methodology, and labor allocation (direct vs. indirect) - Analyze manufacturing cost variances (material, labor, overhead) and partner with Operations to identify root causes and corrective actions - Own inventory valuation, cycle counts, and obsolescence reserve analysis for the facility, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness Cross-Functional Partnership - Partner with Procurement on vendor cost analysis, tariff/duty impact, and supply chain cost trends - Provide financial training and guidance to plant operations staff on cost drivers and the financial impact of operational decisions - Build a trusted, credible relationship with the Plant Manager and Operations team -- you're their finance partner, not a corporate auditor ## What We're Looking For - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred - 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or plant finance role - Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory valuation - Experience partnering directly with plant and operations leadership in a dotted-line or matrixed reporting structure - Experience with ERP/MRP systems -- NetSuite or similar a plus - Advanced Excel skills; comfortable building financial models and forecasts from scratch - Strong presentation and communication skills -- you can walk a Plant Manager through a variance analysis and present the same material to a CFO - Comfortable working independently on-site while maintaining strong alignment with corporate Finance ## Nice to Have - Experience with international supply chains, tariffs, and customs/duty considerations - CPA or CMA credential - Background in a high-growth, venture-backed manufacturing or hardware company - Familiarity with standard costing in a multi-SKU, complex BOM environment ## Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $170,000. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. ## About Standard Bots ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Standard Bots is an American AI-native industrial robot manufacturer that builds affordable, easy-to-use six-axis robot arms designed and assembled in the USA. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series stage not publicly disclosed) - **Headquarters**: Glen Cove, New York, USA - **Founded**: 2020 - **Founders**: Evan Beard (Founder & CEO) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Industrial Robotics / Manufacturing / AI - **Target customers**: B2B — small to large businesses in manufacturing, machining, warehousing, and industrial automation - **Mission**: "Propel human productivity through the world’s most accessible robots." ## Products & Services - **Bolt**: Entry-level six-axis robot arm (900mm reach, 8kg payload) starting at $29,500.
