We are looking for great people who thrive in a respectful, collaborative, inclusive, and productive culture to join the Xenon team. What We Do: We are advancing an [exciting product pipeline](https://xenon-pharma.com/pipeline) to address indications with high unmet medical need, including epilepsy, depression and pain. Our Phase 3 azetukalner program represents the most advanced, clinically validated potassium channel modulator in late-stage clinical development for multiple indications. In March 2026, we announced positive topline data from our Phase 3 X-TOLE2 study of azetukalner in focal onset seizures (FOS), and we anticipate submitting a New Drug Application to the Food and Drug Administration in the third quarter of 2026. Our Phase 3 epilepsy program also includes a second FOS study, X-TOLE3, which would support regulatory submissions outside the U.S., and the X-ACKT study in primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, which would support regulatory submissions for an additional epilepsy indication. We also have multiple Phase 3 azetukalner clinical trials underway in major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar depression (BPD), based on topline data from our Phase 2 X-NOVA clinical trial. In addition, we are proud of our strong heritage in human genetics, deep understanding of ion channel biology, and expertise in novel chemistries to enable potent, selective ion channel targeting. We continue to advance an early-stage pipeline of novel therapeutic candidates, including Phase 1 studies for XEN1701 and XEN1720 (targeting Nav1.7) and XEN1120 (targeting Kv7), which are being developed for pain. Backed by a strong balance sheet to support our growth plans, we continue to build a fully integrated, premier neuroscience company with strong discovery, clinical development, corporate, and commercial operations. About the Role: We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Enterprise Data Integration, to join our Information Technology (IT) team. The position will help lead the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Xenon’s enterprise integration, middleware, and data engineering capabilities. This individual will partner with leaders across IT, Commercial, Medical, Finance, Supply Chain, Clinical Development, Research, and Quality, and external partners to establish scalable, secure, and compliant data flows across Xenon’s enterprise application and analytics ecosystem. This role will be a key enabler of Xenon’s growth and commercialization readiness, helping connect core platforms such as ERP, CRM, data warehouse, master data management, clinical and research systems, quality systems, and external partner networks. The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on technical depth with strong architecture, governance, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership skills. This position reports to the Director, Data Architecture & Engineering and will be based out of Boston, MA, USA in our Needham office. The level of the position will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and industry experience. This role is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. ## RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manage the implementation and maturation of Xenon’s enterprise integration and data engineering capabilities, including middleware/iPaaS, API-based integration, event/message-based integration, file-based ingestion, and ELT/data pipeline patterns. - Partner with IT and business leaders to define and maintain an enterprise integration roadmap aligned to ERP, Commercial, Medical, Clinical, Research, Quality, MDM, and data warehouse priorities. - In consultation with assigned stakeholders, evaluate, select, implement, and govern integration and ELT platforms such as Informatica/IICS, Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, or similar technologies. - Design and oversee integrations and data pipelines between internal and external systems including ERP, Veeva CRM/Vault, commercial data providers, patient services platforms, EDC/clinical systems, safety systems, LIMS, eQMS, Dotmatics/ELN, HRIS/HCM, CLM, Concur, Adaptive Planning, banks, CDMOs/CMOs, 3PLs, and other partners. - Establish reusable integration standards, data contracts, interface specifications, transformation patterns, naming conventions, monitoring/alerting practices, runbooks, and documentation standards. - Collaborate with Xenon’s Architecture Review Board to ensure system and data-flow designs are consistent with company standards for security, infrastructure, data architecture, privacy, and operational supportability. - Partner with business data owners and data stewards to establish and maintain effective data governance including master data management, data quality, metadata, lineage, cataloging, access controls, and common data definitions across domains. - Provide technical leadership for data models, ELT transformations, curated data layers, and “gold” datasets that enable trusted analytics, self-service reporting, AI/ML, and operational decision-making. - Ensure integration and data engineering solutions are designed with appropriate controls for GxP, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11, auditability, data integrity, and role-based access, as applicable. - Provide technical guidance and support for Computer Systems Assurance (CSA), SDLC, regulatory/risk assessment, testing, validation, and change control deliverables for regulated systems and data flows. - Develop and manage the ongoing support model for integrations and data pipelines, including onboarding and managing qualified implementation partners and service providers. - Ensure ongoing compliance with Xenon procedures including Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, SaaS Release Management, and other applicable IT operating processes. - Monitor integration and pipeline performance, manage operational issues to resolution, drive root cause analysis, and lead continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, and support processes. - Translate business requirements into practical integration architecture, technical design, delivery plans, test strategies, and sustainable operating procedures. - Lead, mentor, or coordinate internal and external data engineers, integration developers, analysts, and vendor resources as the capability grows. - Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any. - Some international travel may be required. - Other duties as assigned. ## QUALIFICATIONS: - A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Engineering, Business Administration, with a minimum of 7-10 years prior experience with enterprise integration, data engineering, middleware, cloud data platform, analytics platform, or enterprise applications - Experience in Life Sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or another regulated industry is preferred.
