We’re admired by well-known civic orgs, influencers, candidations/politicians, and voters alike. Voting group leaders across the country and ideological spectrum use Sway to organize their communities, share ballot recommendations, and — most importantly — win elections. Our tight-knit team is looking to add an ambitious product designer to the team, one who wants to shape one of the most consequential consumer products ever. How we work together: We’re currently contracting with a senior product designer, and are ready to bring that function in-house. Our existing EPD team is consumer product-focused, but we’re also highly empathetic. We work long-ish hours in-person in SF, love team lunches, and are still happy to see each other on the weekend. We host civic-oriented events in our community. We have our power users on speed dial. We talk politics, and often do not agree. At the end of the day, we know that our work is critical, and that there are few cooler problem spaces to be working in right now. We strive to balance that gravity with lightness every day. Who you are: You’re someone who can bring our core user flows to life, whether that’s joining a voting group or filling out your ballot. You care about design systems, and you care about delight — especially when the object feels complicated or boring. You use AI to your advantage. You’re excited to have creative freedom and flexibility. Maybe you’ve built a consumer product from scratch or started something yourself. Politics would be better with you involved. Benefits: Competitive comp, flexible PTO, full benefits, and ground-floor equity in a company trying to reinvent political power. ## About Sway ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Sway is a material innovation company scaling compostable solutions for plastic made with seaweed. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage; $10.6M total funding) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2020 - **Founders**: Julia Marsh (CEO & Co-Founder), Matt Mayes (COO & Co-Founder) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Climate Technology Product Manufacturing; sustainable packaging / biomaterials - **Target customers**: B2B – brands in fashion, outdoors, home goods, personal care, and other industries looking for compostable flexible packaging; also partners with packaging distributors and manufacturers. - **Mission statement**: “Create materials that replenish the planet” – enabling a circular economy from sea to soil. ## Products & Services - **[Sway Flexible Film](https://swaythefuture.com/hello)**: Seaweed-based, compostable flexible film for bags (shopping, shipping, polybags, die-cut handle retail bags).
