We believe that eventually, all companies will be software companies, and the vast majority of coordination will be handled by autonomous agents, not people. To get there, we are helping software companies become "self-driving". Legacy software engineering operations software is built for humans to manually explore data and patch together brittle alerts. The last generation of tools like Datadog is designed to enable humans to understand how software behaves. Firetiger flips the script. We approach operations from first principles: customers define top-down what success looks like for a business and product, then deploy agents to constantly monitor to ensure those goals are met and close the loop. We are founded by [Rustam](http://linkedin.com/in/lalkaka) and [Achille](https://www.linkedin.com/in/achille-roussel/), former leaders from Cloudflare and Segment, and backed by Sequoia Capital and founders and executives at Cloudflare, Segment, Amazon, Anthropic, Cursor, and Plaid. We are looking for a Product Engineer to build the interfaces between humans and AI agents: the workflows, visualizations, and interaction patterns that make autonomous technical operations intuitive and actionable. ## The Role Firetiger's agents find production problems before your customers find them and your CEO hears about them. Here's how it works: - We ingest telemetry with high-cardinality detail and automatically model what your system is and how it works - Customers define objectives in natural language (e.g., "customers should have OAuth configured correctly") that stay relevant as infrastructure evolves - Agents autonomously investigate issues, determine root cause, and take action to remediate You'll build the product experiences that make this magic legible—turning complex autonomous investigations into something engineers actually want to use. You'll also build the agents themselves. This is not a role where you implement specs handed down from product. You will own problems end-to-end: talking to customers, defining what to build, building it, and iterating until it's great. ## What You Will Accomplish - Agent interfaces: Design how engineers interact with AI agents operating their software systems. What should autonomous software operations look like? How do you give humans the right level of visibility and control? - The agents themselves: Build the brains that turn messy natural-language objectives into the crisp outputs our customers rely on to run their businesses. You'll work on the core intelligence, not just the UI around it. - Real-time collaboration tools: Create experiences where engineers can watch agents work, redirect wayward chains-of-thought, and collaborate on complex debugging sessions. - Novel data exploration: Design new UX patterns for exploring high-cardinality data that agents surface. Think beyond traditional dashboards to new ways of understanding customer-specific issues at scale. ## Who You Are - High Agency: You don't wait for permission. You see a problem, whether a confusing user flow or missing feature, and you fix it. You ship. - Product-Minded: You care about the why behind what you build. You talk to customers. You have opinions about what makes developer tools great vs. frustrating. - Full-Stack Capable: You're comfortable working across the stack to deliver complete features. You've built complex, data-heavy web applications and know how to make them fast. - AI-Curious: You've built with LLMs, or at a minimum collaborated with agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc) to write software. You're excited about the design challenges of human-AI collaboration. ## Qualifications - Experience: You're excited about building and shipping user-facing software products. You have examples of projects you drove end-to-end that users loved. - Communication: You can write a clear product spec, explain a technical tradeoff to a customer, and give direct feedback to teammates. ## Compensation and Benefits - $120k salary prorated for internship term - In-person in San Francisco How to Apply We care more about your projects than your pedigree. In your application, please include a link to something you've built: a side project, an open-source contribution, a product feature you're proud of. Show us how you think about building software products. ## About Firetiger ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Firetiger provides an AI-powered agentic operations layer that automatically triages, monitors, and fixes production issues so engineering teams can ship software at high velocity without sacrificing reliability. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed stage – $7.6M seed round announced) - **Headquarters**: San Francisco, California, United States - **Founded**: 2024 - **Founders**: Rustam X. Lalkaka (CEO & Co-founder) and Achille Roussel (Co-founder) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Technology, Information and Internet (developer infrastructure / observability) - **Target customers**: B2B – Engineering teams that have already adopted AI-assisted code generation (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) and want to automate production operations at scale. Early adopters include teams pursuing “human-less software factories.” - **Mission/Purpose**: “We’re on a mission to help builders sleep better at night and customers have confidence in the software they depend on.” – Firetiger blog ## Products & Services - **Firetiger Agents** – Autonomous agents that continuously observe production telemetry, code diffs, and business context. They triage issues, propose runbooks, execute fixes, and close the loop by verifying that the intended effect was achieved. Agents work 24/7 across environments (staging, prod). - **Change Monitors** – Attached to every pull request. They analyze the diff, define what “normal” looks like in production, and monitor deployments to confirm the change’s intended outcome (not just error-free). Verifies intent, not merely errors. - **Platform Integrations** – Connects to GitHub, Linear, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, Snowflake, AWS, GCP, Slack, PagerDuty, and MCP to pull context and trigger actions. Available via API or native plugins for Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code. All offerings are SaaS, starting at USD $599/month (self-serve sign-up, free trial available). ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (seed stage) - **Key Metrics**: - Total funding: $7.6 million seed round (led by Sequoia Capital, announced concurrently with product launch) - Early customer results: 32% decrease in change-related issues within two weeks of installing Firetiger - Employee headcount: 7–8 (LinkedIn reports 7 employees with +12.5% monthly growth; Built In SF lists 8 total employees) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: - Lead: Sequoia Capital - Angel investors include Matthew Prince (Cloudflare CEO), Calvin French-Owen (Segment co-founder), Nico Rosberg, Dane Knecht, Eleanor Dorfman, Jeff Wilke, and Alana Goyal. - Integrations partners: GitHub, Linear, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc. - **Growth Signals**: - Product launch with immediate press and blog traction - Growing team (headcount +12.5% month over month per LinkedIn) - Hiring for Product Engineer roles (new grad and experienced) - Positioning as the “operations layer for the agentic coding era” ## Competitive Advantages - **Purpose-built data lake for agentic operations** – Rather than repurposing traditional observability stores, Firetiger built a high-cardinality, schema-on-read data lake on S3 that feeds rich context to agents (no sampling, no cardinality limits). - **Durable agent execution layer** – Allows agents to pursue long-horizon tasks: continuously consuming telemetry, updating knowledge graphs, and coordinating with LLMs reliably. This enables agents to “close the loop” by verifying fixes against intended business outcomes. - **Outcome engineering over observability** – Shifts focus from dashboards and alerts to automated, agent-driven verification of every change’s intent. Reduces the gap between code writing and production confidence. - **Founding team pedigree** – Rustam Lalkaka spent 7 years at Cloudflare building infrastructure used by billions; Achille Roussel led data plane teams at Segment and Twitch. Their deep operational experience is embedded in the product. ## Strategic Focus - **Enable “software factories”** where AI agents write code and Firetiger agents handle operations – triage, monitor, verify, and remediate without human intervention. - **Scale from early adopter teams** that already use agents heavily (Cursor, Claude Code) to broader enterprise engineering organizations. - **Grow the agent ecosystem** by expanding integrations and native support for more development tools and telemetry sources. - **Hire aggressively** to build out the product, engineering, and go-to-market teams (current roles: Product Engineer, likely more opening). ## Why Work Here - **Small, high-impact team** – Currently ~8 people with strong technical founders. Employees have direct ownership over critical components (data lake, agent execution, integrations). Monthly headcount growth indicates rapid scaling. - **In-office culture** – Headquarters in San Francisco, CA (in-person/on-site workspace). All employees work from the physical office, fostering close collaboration. - **Cutting-edge AI/operations stack** – Work on agentic systems, purpose-built databases, durable execution, and LLM coordination. Ideal for engineers passionate about infrastructure, AI, and reliability. - **Strong talent pool** – Early hires come from Cloudflare, Segment, Statsig, InfluxData, Yuma AI, and other top tech companies. - **Perks & culture** – Not yet detailed publicly, but typical for an early-stage Sequoia-backed startup: equity, autonomy, high velocity, and direct impact on product direction. Glassdoor rating 4.0/5.0 (based on 1 review). ## Sources 1. [Firetiger Website](https://www.firetiger.com/) 2.
