The most important companies of this era are private, and almost no one can own them. What's missing is the financial system public markets spent a century building: exchanges, custodians, brokers, and ways for ordinary people to buy in. Private markets, now $28T, never had the equivalent. AngelList is building it. The last decade of structural innovation in venture happened here: syndicates, SPVs at scale, Rolling Funds, scout programs. Today we have $200B+ in assets and 30,000+ startups funded on our platform. The rest of private markets is next. Funds is the software and services behind private funds, Nova is the banking network, Meridian is the wealth platform for accredited investors, and USVC is the brand behind a registered fund that lets anyone invest in venture. Working here means an unusual amount of agency on a problem that matters. Titles are closer to suggestions, and there are about 200 of us building what private markets never had. Come build it with us. ## About the role We are building the agentic extension of every team in institutional venture. A huge market, still manual. Venture capital is a $3.5 trillion asset class, and capital is concentrating in established firms managing $50M to more than $1B. Their back offices still depend on outside administrators and manual work: AngelList automates it. A fund administrator run by agents. Agents handle accounting, reconciliation, capital calls, and investor requests, people step in only on genuine exceptions. You are directly responsible for making that a reality. The default on Institutional Venture. Institutional is one of our fastest-growing products and wins most of the deals it competes for. Your job is to make it the obvious choice for established firms. You will: - Own the roadmap for our Institutional product. Decide which fund operations workflows to automate next, from bank reconciliation to journal entries to LP requests, and shape how CFOs and finance teams work alongside agents. - Talk to customers constantly. From managing partners to fund CFOs and controllers, turn what you hear into a sharp product point of view, and be in the room when a deal is being won or a relationship needs repair. - Grow revenue, assets under administration, and retention by building a product that is accurate, responsive, and efficient enough that customers recommend us to their peers. - Make switching to AngelList easy by turning migrations from incumbent administrators into a fast, predictable experience. - Write product requirements that turn complex accounting, tax, and operational realities into work engineering and design can ship. - Partner with sales, fund accounting, and operations to win new firms and keep existing ones successful. In this role, success is measured by Institutional revenue and AUA growth, retention, and customer satisfaction. You may be a good fit if you: - Have built something from early to scale. You have taken a B2B product from a handful of customers to more than a hundred, as a founder or an early product leader, and you have owned the revenue that came with it. - Have a point of view on where venture is going. You follow private markets closely and have opinions about how funds will be run five years from now. Fluency in fund operations (capital calls, capital accounts, NAV, K-1s, audits) is a plus. If you are not there yet, you have learned a domain this complex quickly before. - Build with AI every day. You use AI tools to prototype, analyze, and ship. You know where they still fall short when every number has to be right. - Design for trust. Finance teams adopt automation only when they can check it. You care about accuracy, auditability, and knowing exactly when a person needs to step in. - Are at-home with demanding customers. You can earn the confidence of managing partners and CFOs, present the product in a sales meeting, and turn an escalation into a better roadmap. - Own outcomes, not just roadmaps. You do whatever the product and the customer need to win, working closely with engineering, sales, and operations. Experience: 8+ years overall, including 4+ in product management or as a founder, ideally in fintech, accounting or finance software, data or platform products, or another operationally complex B2B domain. Based in San Francisco or New York. Working Here If you don't meet every requirement above, we still encourage you to apply. We value complementary strengths and operators who learn by doing. We operate out of hubs in New York City and San Francisco. For most roles on those teams, we work from the office at least two days per week (Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday). Compensation: The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $240,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate's professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process. Benefits: We support your life both in and outside of work. The company's stated goal is to solve the "ownership gap" for private companies — building the equivalent of public-market infrastructure (exchanges, custodians, transfer agents, brokers, retail distribution) for private markets, which now represent more than $28T in U.S. fund AUM. ## Products & Services - **AngelList Funds**: The administration layer for venture capital — enables fund managers to launch and operate venture funds, SPVs, and syndicates on the platform. - **USVC**: The brand behind retail access to venture investing, allowing non-institutional investors to participate in private-market deals. - **Meridian**: The wealth layer for private markets; a platform for managing private-market assets and portfolio operations. - **Nova** (coming soon): The banking and payments layer for private markets, announced as the next major product release. - **Scout Funds & SPVs**: Additional investment vehicles supported on the platform alongside venture funds. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (private company) - **Key Metric**: Total funding of $124.1M (8 prior rounds). Platform scale figures are conflicting across sources: LinkedIn reports **$171B in assets on platform, 25K+ funds and syndicates, and 72K active investors**, while Built In reports **$15B in assets for fund managers, 17K+ startup investments (including 287 unicorns), and 1.3K startups using founder services** — both cited below as conflicting reports. - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Not publicly available in the provided data sources. - **Growth Signals**: Acquired Nova (banking/payments layer) in July 2023; acquired Prospectify (2019) and Product Hunt (2016, for $20M); has delivered $10B in capital to startups with a stated ambition to reach $10T; active hiring across Engineering, Data, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Success teams. ## Competitive Advantages - **Network effects / de facto standard**: Positions itself as the default platform for startup investing, with 25K+ funds and syndicates and 72K active investors on platform (per LinkedIn data). - **Full-stack private-market infrastructure**: Unlike point solutions, AngelList spans fund administration (Funds), retail access (USVC), wealth management (Meridian), and soon banking/payments (Nova) — a vertically integrated stack for private markets. - **Data moat**: Years of transaction, fund, and investor data create switching costs for fund managers and investors alike. - **Founder-friendly brand equity**: Long-standing reputation in the startup ecosystem, including backing 287 unicorns (per Built In). ## Strategic Focus - **Launching Nova**: The banking and payments layer for private markets is positioned as the next major growth vector, completing the company's "financial system for private markets" vision. - **Scaling Meridian**: Building out the wealth layer to serve private-market asset management at scale. - **Expanding retail access**: Growing USVC to bring venture investing to a broader audience beyond accredited investors. - **Growing platform AUM**: Pushing from $10B in capital delivered toward the stated $10T ambition. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: The company emphasizes high agency and ownership — described as "no ladders, only roads," where employees are expected to pave their own career paths and take on more than peers in the industry, faster, with less. - **Work mode**: Hybrid roles available in San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY (e.g., Senior Platform Engineer, Investor Services Specialist, Investment Operations Associate). - **Funder & founders program**: Employees can invest up to $100K from an AngelList fund into deals they source and earn 20% of the profits from those investments. - **Financial wellbeing**: Competitive salary, 401K, equity, FSA, and access to a finance coach. - **Healthcare**: Premium medical, dental, vision coverage, One Medical, wellness coach, FSA, Carrot fertility benefits, and generous parental leave. - **Lifestyle perks**: Unlimited PTO, unlimited book stipend, wellness reimbursement, and a remote office budget (co-working/home office). - **Office perks**: In-office meals, coffee walks, team offsites, commuter benefits, and safe rides home. - **Team size (conflicting reports)**: The careers page cites a team of 140; LinkedIn reports 321 employees (-0.7% YoY); Built In reports 518 total employees across 3 offices. ## Sources 1.
