Guided by our mission to make the world’s health data secure, accessible and actionable, we provide critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem - including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. From fulfilling a single patient’s request for their medical records to powering the AI revolution in healthcare, Datavanters are building the future of how data is connected and used to improve health. By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a driven and highly collaborative team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. ## About the Team The Portal team is embedded within the Life Sciences Product & Engineering Platform zone and owns the foundation of the Datavant Connect customer experience. The team is responsible for the core portal UI, platform APIs, authentication and identity, user and company permissions, and company onboarding workflows. Portal builds the secure, scalable platform capabilities that enable customers to seamlessly access, configure, and use Datavant products. In addition to delivering new functionality, the team ensures the reliability and performance of these services through monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence. As a platform team with significant customer-facing impact, Portal sits at the intersection of user experience, security, and developer enablement, enabling every customer interaction with the Connect platform. ## About the Role The Product Manager for the Portal team is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the platform capabilities that power the Datavant Connect experience. This includes ownership of the customer portal, authentication and identity, user and company permissions, company onboarding workflows, and the APIs that enable these experiences. In partnership with engineering, design, security, and product teams across the Life Sciences organization, you will also help define and execute a unified access and identity strategy spanning both the Connect and Real-World Evidence (RWE) Generation platforms. In this role you will: - Define and communicate a compelling product vision, strategy, and roadmap that aligns customer needs with business objectives and platform investments. - Lead the product lifecycle from discovery and strategy through planning, execution, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement. - Partner closely with engineering, design, security, and cross-functional product teams to deliver secure, scalable, and intuitive platform capabilities that improve the customer experience across Datavant products. - Champion authentication, identity, permissions, and onboarding experiences that balance ease of use with enterprise-grade security, compliance, and governance. - Be the voice of the customer by deeply understanding user needs and translating them into solutions that maximize customer value while making thoughtful tradeoffs between impact, complexity, and cost. - Reduce ambiguity by making informed, data-driven decisions, clearly communicating priorities, and aligning stakeholders around a shared direction. - Write clear, actionable product requirements that inspire teams and provide the context needed to build the right solutions. You bring people together, facilitate productive discussions, and understand the broader systems and dependencies that influence your product. - Drive execution by working closely with engineering teams across the Life Sciences organization, proactively identifying dependencies, mitigating risks, removing roadblocks, and ensuring successful delivery. - Measure product success through customer outcomes, adoption, operational health, and business impact, using data to continuously improve the platform. - Foster strong cross-functional relationships and lead through influence, collaboration, and accountability. - Operate with an ownership mindset, taking responsibility for outcomes and doing whatever is necessary to make your product, your team, and Datavant successful. ## About You - You have 3+ years in product management, ideally working in healthcare (or a similar industry) where security / compliance play a major role in how things get designed & developed. - You have at least 1-2 years experience working directly with end users and/or user-facing teams for product feedback. - You enjoy working with cross-functional teams and customers, where jumping on a customer call or internal security call to come up with solutions doesn’t scare you off. - You are comfortable with ambiguity. Diving into a project with little details doesn’t scare you. - You are highly organized and have strong project management skills: others are confident in a project’s outcome when they know you’re owning it. - You write exceptional documents, presentations, diagrams, and mockups. Your documentation leads to discussions about the content, not about what is intended. - You are a great communicator and have the confidence to lead planning meetings with anyone or any group within the company. You have the ability to explain strategies, rationales and products in terms that each audience can understand. - You work hard. You are at your best working at full speed, and you love what you do. - You are motivated by getting stuff done. You are wired to both set the big vision and to make continual steps towards that vision. Neither vision setting nor execution is satisfactory by itself to you - you want both. - You are a team player. You always put yourself in other’s positions and understand their motivations, needs, perspectives and potential points of confusion. - You are proactive. You define how the product should evolve and bias to action. - You have high bandwidth and high productivity: others wonder where you find time to do all you do. Your secret is that you are quick to understand, formulate and respond. To ensure the safety of patients and staff, many of our clients require post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot, Tdap, COVID-19, etc. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Datavant Human Resources and determined on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the state in which you will be working, exemptions may be available on the basis of disability, medical contraindications to the vaccine or any of its components, pregnancy or pregnancy-related medical conditions, and/or religion.
