The Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, medical treatment, crisis intervention, and counseling to clients and their families. This position plays a critical role in supporting each person's journey toward recovery from mental illness, physical illness, and substance use. The ideal candidate embraces a person-centered, recovery-oriented approach and works collaboratively with clients, families, and an interdisciplinary treatment team. Our Recovery Model emphasizes hope, empowerment, self-determination, peer support, respect, empathy, individual strengths, and a holistic approach to wellness. ## Key Responsibilities - Provide psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, and medical treatment based on clients' behavioral health needs. - Conduct routine and emergency psychiatric evaluations and assessments. - Provide crisis intervention and individual and family counseling when clinically appropriate. - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement appropriate treatment strategies. - Support continuity of care between Arundel Lodge and community-based providers and services. - Participate in person-centered treatment planning and recovery-oriented interventions. - Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes. - Monitor and manage laboratory testing, medications, and other medical procedures relevant to clients' psychiatric care. - Maintain compliance with agency policies, professional standards, applicable licensing requirements, and COMAR regulations. - Maintain appropriate communication with clients, families, visitors, and coworkers. - Participate in required meetings, training, and quality-of-care activities. - Provide rotating after-hours cell phone coverage for approximately one week every 12–14 weeks. - Follow all health, safety, confidentiality, and infection-control requirements. - Perform other duties as needed to support program goals and client care. Required Qualifications - Master's degree in nursing or related field appropriate to the role. - Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/CRNP-PMH certification. - Current and unrestricted applicable professional licensure and certifications required to practice in Maryland. - Certification or qualifications as a Behavioral Health specialist. - Current authorization/certification required for prescribing Buprenorphine. - Board eligibility or board certification, as applicable. - Experience working with the client populations for which the candidate is credentialed, including children, adolescents, adults, and/or older adults. - Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and evidence-based behavioral health treatment. - Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy principles. - Competency in psychiatric medication management, medical treatment, laboratory testing, and related clinical procedures. - Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and clinical communication skills. - Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. - Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse and/or special-needs populations. - Commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality, and recovery-oriented care. - Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. - Ability to meet agency requirements for background checks, drug testing, and TB testing.
