We're focused on an ambitious goal to make generalized robots broadly accessible, enabling households to take back quality time. We have spent the last 18 months building a talented team, securing capital, and validating our technology. We are now seeking passionate individuals to join us in the next phase of our growth. If you are ready to apply your skills to the forefront of robotics innovation, we’d love to hear from you. What to Expect In building robots for the home, we are tackling a true grand challenge in robotics: dexterous mobile manipulation in unstructured environments. To make this possible, we are building across the entire robotics stack, and a lot of that work happens at the bench. As an R&D Engineering Technician, you'll be working hands on turning designs and test plans into working hardware. You'll partner closely with our systems, mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to build, wire, bring up, and test robots and subsystems. You will also help us keep our fleet of robots well maintained and continuously improving. This role offers significant ownership and a front row seat to cutting edge technology as it comes together into a real product. ## What You'll Do - Assemble, wire, and bring up robotic systems and subsystems including actuation and perception hardware, following engineering drawings and work instructions - Execute test plans and procedures developed by engineers; collect, log, and organize test data - Build, maintain, and improve test fixtures and jigs - Run standard test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer) under engineering direction, to triage and debug issues - Support cross disciplinary triage spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software systems, escalating findings to the responsible engineers - Aid our early robot deployments by going on site and potentially being on-call - Document build logs, write standard operating procedures, and surface recommendations to engineers - Perform soldering, crimping, rework, and light fabrication to support prototyping and repair - Maintain lab equipment, tools, inventory, and consumables; keep the workspace organized, calibrated, and safe - Provide feedback and work on improvements to robot assembly, bringup, and QA processes - Use basic scripting (Python) to run test routines or parse data where it speeds the work ## What You'll Bring - 2+ years of hands on experience building and testing robots (or complex electromechanical systems - those are robots too!) - Ability to read and work from schematics, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions - Comfort with soldering, crimping, hand tools, and basic mechanical/electrical fabrication and assembly - Familiarity with standard diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer) - Strong, detail-oriented record keeping and a habit of clear documentation - Comfort working in a fast-moving prototype environment Nice to Haves - Exposure to protocols including CAN, Ethernet, USB, MIPI - Hands on experience with actuators, cameras, microcontrollers - Soldering and rework to IPC standards - Comfortable with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) - Prior experience in a robotics startup At Sunday Robotics, we’re building technology shaped by real people — curious, creative, and diverse. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hold back unless they meet 100% of the criteria — we don’t want that to be the reason we miss out on great talent. ## About Sunday Robotics ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Sunday Robotics builds Memo, an autonomous home robot that learns household chores through a proprietary Skill Capture Glove™ and data collected from real homes. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series B) - **Headquarters**: Redwood City, California, USA - **Founded**: 2024 (founder dropped out of Stanford CS PhD in 2024 to start the company) - **Founders**: Tony Zhao ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Consumer robotics, home automation, artificial intelligence - **Target customers**: B2C – households (homeowners and families) - **Mission or purpose statement**: "Giving people their time back for the things that matter most" by automating repetitive household chores. ## Products & Services - **Memo (Autonomous Home Robot)**: A wheeled, single-armed robot designed to perform household tasks such as loading the dishwasher, folding socks, pulling espresso shots, and clearing tables. It uses AI trained on data from hundreds of real homes and features passive stability, compliant control, and a soft silicone shell for safety. - **Skill Capture Glove™**: A low-cost (~$400) wearable glove that mirrors Memo’s kinematics. A distributed network of “Memory Developers” (over 2,000 gloves shipped) record themselves performing tasks in their own homes, generating training data that enables Memo to learn new skills without human tele-operation. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: $1.15 billion (as of March 2026, Series B round) - **Key Metric**: Total Funding – $165 million (Series B, oversubscribed) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Coatue (lead, with Thomas Laffont joining the board), Bain Capital Ventures, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Tiger Global, Benchmark, Conviction, Xtal Ventures - **Growth Signals**: Engineering team grew 3x, Research 4x, Data Operations 5x ahead of the Series B. Beta program launching in late 2026 with “Founding Families.” Memo already learns multiple skills in parallel (dishes, coffee, laundry). Public deployment is the stated focus, moving beyond demos. ## Competitive Advantages - **Unmatched iteration speed**: The company can move from in-the-wild data collection to model training and real-world evaluation faster than competitors. - **Full-stack ownership**: Controls the entire stack – from the Skill Capture Glove and data collection pipeline to hardware design, manufacturing, and AI models. - **Data moat**: Proprietary data from thousands of glove recordings and the robot fleet creates a flywheel that improves over time, while also benefiting from public datasets. - **Safety-first design**: Memo has passive stability (won’t fall when power is cut), compliant control (limbs can be pushed safely), and a soft, cleanable silicone shell – making it safe for homes with children and pets. ## Strategic Focus - **Real-world deployment over demos**: The Series B announcement explicitly states “No More Demos” – the company is shifting entirely to shipping Memo to households via a beta program in 2026. - **Scaling skills**: Continuously expanding Memo’s Skill Library (new skills every month) and improving generalization so the robot works in homes it has never seen. - **Manufacturing cost reduction**: Current hand-built cost is ~$20,000; target retail price will be at least 50% lower after large-scale manufacturing. ## Why Work Here - **Mission-driven culture**: The team is united by the goal of giving people back their time through helpful robotics. Core value: persistence. - **Small, ambitious team**: 30+ engineers, designers, and researchers in Silicon Valley – offering high ownership and impact. - **Cutting-edge robotics & AI**: Work on the full stack – from hardware mechanical design to imitation learning and world models. Founders have deep academic roots (ALOHA project, Stanford). - **Open roles**: Hiring across Robotics, Hardware, Software, ML & Robotics Infra, Data Operations, and Product. Includes remote Memory Developer positions. - **Office location**: Redwood City, CA (likely hybrid/on-site for most technical roles). ## Sources 1. [sunday.ai](https://www.sunday.ai/) 2.
